Warning: There are spoilers ahead for Of season 3, episode 6.
Since its debut, Of introduced many intriguing mysteries and continued to add compelling questions in the third season. Ofmonsters, the Boy in White and bottle trees are among the sci-fi horror series’ numerous mysteries. This has naturally generated much speculation and fascinating theories that tie together many of the stories and answer Ofthe most pressing issues.
Some of these theories focus on specific individuals in OfThe cast of characters including Tabitha Matthews (Catalina Sandino Moreno) and Jade Herrera (David Alpay) and others focus more generally on the true nature of the city and its supernatural forces. Both aspects are equally important in explaining why Of became increasingly popular. While every theory can provide valuable insights, The best theories are those that address specific mysteries satisfactorily and that have broad potential to become reality.

The city is the lost colony of Roanoke
A real-life mystery could be the answer
The real-life Roanoke Colony is famous for its unexplained disappearance. One Reddit theory postulates that Of‘s Town Could Be the Lost Colony of Roanoke. One of the only clues left was a tree with the word “Croatoan” carved into it. When every resident gets stuck in the city, the first thing they see is a fallen tree on the road and a swarm of crows. This theory believes this is a reference to the tree with the word “Croatoan” carved into it.
The Roanoke Colony disappeared at the end of the 16th century. Jade’s visions of American Civil War soldiers, Ofstatues and forest huts, and others clues point to the city already existing long before the 21st centurypotentially as early as the same time that the Roanoke Colony disappeared. While there are merits to this theory, there is not enough evidence that definitively points to it being the Lost Colony of Roanoke. It is more likely that the City and its mysteries are an entirely original creation and not an explanation for a real-world historical mystery.

The numbers inside the bottle trees are addresses
They may be linked to the functioning of distant trees
OfBottle trees contain pieces of paper inside each bottle, with numbers written on them. ONE Reddit the theory states that instead of numbers being dates, they could be addressesand that these addresses are necessary to travel safely through the distant trees. Boyd Stevens (Harold Perrineau) made one of these slips in the first season and caught it when he traveled through a distant tree. The lunch box that Victor (Scott McCord) gave Tabitha had the address of her childhood home in Camden, Maine, and may have been the reason she was able to safely make it past the distant tree.
Meanwhile, Dale (Cliff Saunders) had no address when he passed by a distant tree, which may be why he was killed. The numbers being addresses seems more likely than dates. However, numbers alone are not enough to get someone to the right address. It is also important to remember that other characters, including Julie Matthews (Hannah Cheramy) in season 1, survived by passing through a distant tree without taking an address with them.

Abby was sent to save the children before Tabitha
Tabitha and Miranda may not have been the only ones with this mission
In the flashbacks that showed what happened to Boyd’s wife, Abby (Lisa Ryder), She mentions that she keeps thinking about a dream she had when she was young. ONE Reddit theory points out that this sounds similar to Tabitha’s achievement in Of season 3, episode 6, that she had a recurring nightmare about the city when she was a child. If Tabitha was destined to go to the City to save the children trapped in the Tower, it’s possible that Abby was destined to end up in the City for the same reason.
The city got the better of her and led her to believe that she needed to kill everyone in order for them to wake up and escape their nightmare.
If this is true, Abby lost sight of her mission, or never understood it to begin with, as the town got the better of her and led her to believe she needed to kill everyone so they would wake up and escape their lives. nightmare. There isn’t enough to support the idea that Abby found out about the trapped children and was trying to save them. The dream Abby had as a child suggests she was always destined to end up in the cityhowever.

The kimono woman is leading Elgin to a more powerful talisman
That would mean she really wants to help Elgin
That Reddit the theory ties together several threads, including the ghost lady Elgin (Nathan D. Simmons) sees, the Lake of Tears, and the Talismans. There are many clues that the ghost lady died by drowning and the most likely place for a person to drown in the city is the lake. She also told Elgin that she can help save him and his friends. The theory suggests that the woman’s real corpse is in the lake and that she holds a Talisman more powerful than the Talismans the villagers currently possess.
In the first episode, Ethan Matthews (Simon Webster) refers to the Lake of Tears, which is the name of a book where a powerful stone that can defeat evil is in a lake. A more powerful talisman within the city’s lake could do more than protect residents inside their homes at night and could be the key to finding a way out of the city. This is a tempting theory, but it may be tying together too many story threads at once and may be overly reliant on details from The Lake of Tears book in Deltora Mission series.

The boy in white was a former “Anghkooey” boy
He could be proof of Miranda’s partial success
The Boy in White was one of the Ofone of the biggest mysteries since the first season, but this Reddit the theory argues that the truth about him is linked to Miranda and the children who say: “Anghkooey.” The premise is that Miranda was partially successful in her quest to save the imprisoned children, with the Boy in White being one of the children she successfully saved. This could explain why the Boy in White has always been seemingly friendly and helpful towards Victor.since Victor’s mother was the one who saved him.
However, Miranda died before she could complete her mission, which is why Tabitha now has to save the rest of Ofof “Anghkooey” children. This theory answers several important mysteries in a convincing way and explains more about what Miranda did before her death. The only dubious part of the theory is that the Boy in White seems more sinister and manipulative than the “Anghkooey” childrenwho are trapped and desperately want Tabitha’s help to be free.

Miranda made a deal to keep Victor safe
Victor May Have “Plot Armor” for a Good Reason
It is well known that Victor has been in the city longer than anyone, somehow surviving there for years alone, even when he was just a child, and did not have the talismans for protection. That Reddit theory explores the possibility that this was only viable because Miranda made a deal with the monsters, Christopher, or the city itself to save Victor’s life. One of the monsters even recently acknowledged how they continue to let Victor stay alive even when he enters the tunnels.
This could explain the “plot armor” that Victor appears to have and why he was allowed to live all these years while so many others were killed, including the night Miranda and all the other residents were massacred. This idea does an effective job of addressing Victor’s long-term survival. The part that is hardest to accept is the monsters or the city continuing to honor this agreement long after Miranda’s death. and when there would be no repercussions for breaking the promise.

Henry is the overarching villain
It was Henry all along
Although Victor’s father, Henry (Robert Joy), seems like a kind man, this Reddit theory proposes that Henry is Ofis the real villain. The argument is that Henry is an evil entity who has somehow been driven out of town and is trying to find his way back.n. The Boy in White may be in league with the entity that is Henry, which is why the Boy in White pushed Tabitha out of the lighthouse, while sending her to unknowingly fetch Henry and bring him back to the city.
This would make the overarching villain more personal to Ofcharacters, especially for Victor and Tabitha. This would significantly increase the risks of the story moving forward and be a genuinely shocking and devastating plot twist. While it may work well in terms of emotional storytelling and increasing overall tension, Henry being an evil entity doesn’t line up with many of the other details that have been established. He is probably exactly who he claims to be, a kind man who is unexpectedly reunited with the son he thought had died years ago.

Tabitha’s nightmare is actually a memory
This could explain its unique connection to the city
That Reddit theory postulates that Tabitha’s recurring nightmare was not just a dream, but a memory from her childhood. The idea is that Tabitha was in the city as a child, somehow escaped and lost her memories of her time there, but her nightmares reminded her of the truth. Tabitha clearly has a stronger connection to the City than most other residents, and the fact that she was there as a child could explain the strength of that connection.
The theory also suggests that Tabitha may have been in the city as a child, before or during the same time as Victor. This seems less likely, as Tabitha is significantly younger than Victor and the show would need to introduce time travel or some other means to deal with Tabitha’s lack of aging. Tabitha’s nightmare being the key to unlocking more mysteries is answered through this theorybut there are too many gaps in it for it to fully work.

The boy in white and Jasper are the same entity
This could be another form of manipulation
Both the Boy in White and the ventriloquist dummy named Jasper are powerful and mysterious forces whose loyalties remain unclear. That Reddit theory states that the Boy in White and Jasper are not two different entities, but they are the same. It is also part of the entity’s manipulation, with the Boy in White offering false hope, including helping Victor survive and making Tabitha believe that she escaped the city and made it to the real world.
This would also explain how a ventriloquist dummy could be sentient, as it is actually just another disguise that the Boy in White uses to torment and control various residents.
Meanwhile, Jasper is more obviously sinister, including in his manipulation of Christopher, but the Boy in White is just another form the entity takes to be manipulative. This would also explain how a ventriloquist dummy could be sentient, as it is actually just another disguise that the Boy in White uses to torment and control various residents. The theory answers the main questions about the Boy in White and Jasper in one fell swoopbut it is not as rigid as another of Jasper’s theories.

Jasper won’t talk to Victor unless Jade is there
Jade has seen the ventriloquist doll before
Victor believes that Jasper contains vital information that is necessary to survive. According to this Reddit theory, Jasper won’t talk to Victor until Jade is also present. Victor has memories of Jasper talking to Christopher, but it was at that moment that Christopher began to see the same symbol that Jade sees. Jasper can only talk to people who can see the symboland since Victor doesn’t see it, he may need Jade to get Jasper to talk.
In season 2, Jade had a vision of the symbol and Jasper, which presents an association that still needs to be explained. Jasper’s vital information could finally explain what the symbol means and why Jade has been seeing this since season one. Both Victor and Jade hold many of the same pieces of the larger puzzle that is Ofbut only together can they make Jasper talk. This will allow them to get a full picture of what they have been missing all along and is one of the best theories about Of season 3.
