She was beginning to realize that she was in love with her best friend, Emmy, but struggling to come out of the closet.
Because of this, instead of considering Quinn’s proposal, She told him she could never love him like that. Quinn was bullied throughout high school, and there were times when Summer was a bystander when his older students picked on him. He was already resentful of many of his schoolmates and became even more isolated after Summer’s rejection.

Quinn’s hatred for Summer and his friends consumed him
After Summer rejected him, the letter Quinn wrote to her became a reminder to him of how badly everyone treated him at school. As a result, his hatred for Summer and her friends gradually grew. Over the years, Quinn continued to pursue his passion for time travel and physics to ultimately design a time machine.
