Everything we know about the It Prequel series

Welcome to Derry is the upcoming prequel to Andy Muscietti’s blockbuster Stephen King films This and It’s Chapter Two, and how I work This TV series is well underway on HBO Max, there’s already a lot to discuss. THE This The films and story focus on the town of Derry, Maine, which is plagued every 27 years by a malevolent presence known as Pennywise. Pennywise is a demonic clown with extradimensional origins, capable of assuming a variety of macabre forms.

Pennywise feeds on fear, and his favorite snack is children, which makes him a more than terrible opponent in This and It’s Chapter Two. Although Pennywise’s origins, including why he takes the form of a clown, are hinted at in Stephen King’s original novel and Muscietti’s book This films, much of his past is mysterious. The next This prequel series Welcome to Derry will expand the story of Derry’s killer clown and take a much longer look at how his reign of terror affects the fictional Maine town.

Latest Welcome to Derry News

With the highly anticipated horror series approaching its release date, the latest news comes in the form of new images from Welcome to Derry. Offering the best look yet at the Stephen King prequel, HBO has revealed a series of photos featuring many of the characters in period clothing. However the terrifying Pennywise is never seen in any of the photosone image features a sign painted with the word “Pennywise” and featuring an artistic representation of the clown.

Welcome to Derry and confirmed, with announcement made in March 2022 (through Variety) along with the revelation that Andy, Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs would be producing the This prequel series for HBO Max. Filming began in 2023, although it was immediately delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, which was eventually resolved in November 2023. Producer Jason Fuchs revealed that Filming ended after more than 200 days in August 2024.

Who is playing Pennywise in HBO’s It Prequel series?

THE Welcome to Derry The cast has been largely revealed, although there has been no tease about who the actors starring in the HBO film are. This prequel series are being played. Most of the actors announced so far make up the show’s youngest cast, following the trend of This which saw a group of young misfits face off against the interdimensional creature. Although there are probably some connections to the cast of the most recent film This films, the characters will likely be entirely new, as it’s set in the 1960s.

It has now been confirmed that Bill Skarsgård will reprise his role as Pennywise the Dancing Clown. Previous reports suggested that he would not appear in the prequel, but now the veteran actor will once again don the clown costume and also pull double duty as executive producer. Many ensemble members have been announced, including Alixandra Fuchs, Kimberly Guerrero, Dorian Gray, Thomas Mitchell, BJ Harrison, Peter Outerbridge, Shane Marriott, Chad Rook, Joshua Odjick, and Morningstar Angeline.

The series explores Derry in the 60s

There’s a lot of Pennywise lore that hasn’t been explored, and the book just teased a long history between the city of Derry and the strange interdimensional monster.

Very little has been revealed about the Welcome to Derry plot. Stephen King never wrote a prequel to This, then The story of the HBO show will be completely original. The only confirmed details are that it will contain an origin story for Pennywise and that it will be set in the 1960s. (through Variety). There’s a lot of Pennywise lore that hasn’t been explored, and the book just teased a long history between the city of Derry and the strange interdimensional monster.

A big tip is the story of the Black Spot, a club that served Derry’s black community and was burned down by white supremacists. The story is told to Mike by his father Will in the book, and footage from the show reveals that Welcome to Derry can explore this terrible event in the city’s history.

THE first filming for Welcome to Derry was revealed as part of HBO’s latest promotion for new and returning shows. The footage is a small part of the video, starting at 1:35 minutes, in the “Coming in 2025” part. It shows a group of children riding bicycles, as well as Pennywise’s red balloon and a voiceover of the words “This isn’t America, this is Derry.“While the new footage doesn’t reveal much, it does give a good sense of how the IT prequel show will approach the source material.

Another sizzle reel was released by HBO in August 2024 and featured a brief excerpt from Welcome to Derryupcoming debut season. Although the teaser barely reveals anything, it highlights the bloody narrative and general dread that will permeate the Stephen King series.
