Dragon Ball DAIMA introduces a new type of fusion, the first in the franchise since the Buu arc

Warning: Spoilers for episode 4 of Dragon Ball DaimaDragon Ball Daima I just teased a new fusion variety, the first time the idea of fusion has been changed since the advent of Potara Earring fusion in Dragon Ball ZBuu’s saga. Given the way the merger worked in Dragon ball universe so far, this new method raises a number of interesting possibilities for Daimathe future.

The fusion played an important role in the Buu saga in two different ways. The first was the infamous Fusion Dance, a special technique that requires two warriors of comparable size and power to perfectly execute a specific set of moves, leading to a fusion that lasts 30 minutes. The second was through the use of the Potara Earrings, special earrings given to the Supreme Kais that allow any two people wearing the earrings on opposite ears to merge into a single being which (unless a Kai is involved) lasts for 1 hour. These two varieties of fusion lead to different fused beings, such as Gogeta and Vegito, depending on the technique used.

Daima’s new merger opportunity could have a big impact

Daima could create a third fused being

In Dragon Ball Daima episode #4, Goku is at a roadside store, where he finds a display case with a variety of wonderful items, all made from insects. In addition to Senzu Bean-type respawn bugs, Goku also discovers an item, the Join Bug, which, if broken in half and shared between two beings, will allow them to fuse for a short period of time.. Goku ends up buying some of each of these items, including the Join Bugs, predicting that they could be very useful to have in the future.

Join Bugs offer an interesting new means of achieving fusion, and given that Fusion Dance and Potara Fusion create different beings, Join Bugs could create yet another new fused being. Although the Fusion Dance has some specific requirements that must be met, and Potara Earrings are exceptionally difficult to find, Join Bugs seem to be quite abundant in comparison, to the point that natives of the Demon Realm don’t even seem to find them. particularly interesting.

Daima may feature fusion combos never seen before

Membership bugs could offer fans some fascinating opportunities

Goku's bag of Medi Bugs, including at least 2 Join Bugs.

While the Join Bugs could obviously be used by Goku and Vegeta once the latter reached the Demon Realm, there’s no reason it would have to be these two.. Apparently, Piccolo will also be accompanying them, presenting the first real opportunity for Goku and Piccolo to fuse. The Supreme Kai and Glory have indicated that they are not particularly interested in eating bugs, but there is also no reason other than antipathy that would keep them from getting in on the fusion fun. A Goku-Supreme Kai fusion would certainly be an interesting concept, to say the least.

Join Bugs are actually a brilliant decision; they allow Daima to introduce new forms of fusion, while also explaining why they are not seen again in Dragon Ball Super or GT–Demon Realm Join Bugs are not available in the external universe. While it’s not yet clear how Join Bugs compare to other types of merges, their relative abundance and ease of use make them extremely valuable. Dragon Ball Daima will certainly deliver on the promise these items represent, and it’s only a matter of time before Goku puts them to work.
