Warning: Spoilers for episode 3 of Dragon Ball Daima
It very rarely has Dragon ball has already caused an environmental force on an alien planet to affect the way Goku and his friends fight. And even if Dragon Ball Daima episode #3 presents a dynamic of how the dense gas of the Third Demon World’s volcanoes makes your air feel heavy, the series, surprisingly, takes drastic measures to eliminate such effects.
Part of DaimaThe initial appeal of is how it makes Goku much weaker, reverting him to a child (like GT he did). In fact, the first few episodes explored this phenomenon, showing how Goku had to get used to not only fighting but also flying in his smaller body. However, Dragon Ball Daima Episode 3’s introduction of the gas-heavy air of the Third Demon World further aggravated Goku’s unfair situation. It also provided fans an environmental factor other than the strongest gravitywhich was used previously in the series.
Dragon Ball Daima makes his new gimmick useless very quickly
The Third Demon World environment could have been more impactful
When Goku inevitably gets into a fight, he seems to overcome what could have been a unique problem throughout the series. Not only does the young Saiyan defeat the demons in short order, as was expected, but his later comment confirms that: “I think I’m getting the hang of balance and the feeling of distance from my smaller body.” The ostensible effect that the atmosphere could have had on him has already been overcome, like it wasn’t even a problem to begin with. Some fans may point to the fact that Goku is fighting in a bar, but the air inside the building would still be composed of the same atmospheric gases present outside.
Furthermore, a previous incident made what would normally be considered useless even more useless. When some local bandits shoot arrows at him, Goku comments how slow they were, making it much easier for him to jump out of the way despite the heavier air. This does not bode well for future conflicts because it would suggest that demons in this third world are slower in general. It would have been much more worrying if the arrows were really fast, and Goku said something like, “Hey, it’s not fair! I thought the air was heavy.”
Dragon Ball Daima can get rid of flying battles
Of course, Dragon Ball Daima could present some explanation for these phenomena and use these situations as a kind of springboard for another development. For example, the planet could defy the laws of physics, where the air in a building could somehow resist the dense gases of the world. But this is unlikely. And even if that ends up being the case, it doesn’t make sense for the creators to eliminate an obvious form of conflict for the worse and then backtrack in a later episode.
The only hope viewers have at this point is the promising development in episode 3, when Glorio explains how ships can’t fly quickly or they risk being destroyed by the dense atmosphere. This could force Goku and his friends to fight on the groundif they ever learn to fly properly. Surprisingly, Goku can fly in this body, unlike GTas was clear in Daima episode #2. The only problem is that he has balance issues, just like Piccolo.
Fortunately, Goku has only been in the Third Demon World for a short time. Perhaps Dragon Ball Daima will reverse course in episode 4, but fans shouldn’t hold their breath, especially if they’re in the Third Demon World.
