The Dark Angels are coming for Warhammer 40,000: Marine 2and they will bring a lot of baggage with them. Later this year, Focus Entertainment will add Dark Angels content to Warhammer 40,000: Marine 2. Season Pass subscribers will have access to various cosmetics based on the famous Space Marine chapter, including new weapon styles, armor pieces, and color schemes. While War Hammer 40KThe Space Marines are best known for their iconic ultramarine blue armor, the Dark Angels use a beige and green color scheme for your armor.
The Dark Angels are the first chapter of the Space Marine founded by the Emperor and have rituals and traditions that date back to the earliest days of the Imperium of Man. Led by their primarch Lion El’Johnson (a superhuman demigod-like being who serves as the genetic blueprint for the Dark Angels), these Space Marines are known for their secrecy, which extends to the battlefield. The group is also known for its companies Ravenwing and Deathwing, which utilize assault bikes and Terminator armor to quickly dispatch enemies. However, The famous Space Marine chapter carries a terrible secret that defines its true mission.
The Dark Angels’ Dark Secret Revealed
Some dark angels turned to chaos and still roam free
During the conflict of the Horus Heresy that nearly tore the Empire of Man in two, the Dark Angels remained loyal to the Emperor of Man. However, in the final days of the great civil war, the loyal Dark Angels learned that some of their members had descended into chaos. The ensuing conflict not only destroyed the Dark Angels’ home world of Caliban, but it also led to the near-fatal injury of Dark Angels leader Lion’el Johnson. Furthermore, several corrupted Dark Angels have been scattered across space and time for War Hammer 40,000‘s Gods of Chaos.
These corrupted Dark Angels became known as the Fallen and served as a reminder of the terrible secret shame the chapter carries. Since the Horus Heresy, the Dark Angels have conducted covert operations to hunt and capture the Fallen. Only by hunting the Fallen will the Dark Angels consider themselves absolved of their secret guilt, and they have tasked the Ravenwing company with quickly intercepting any Fallen encountered in battle. The Dark Angels also maintain a level of separation from other Space Marine chapters and even maintain secret lines of communication during large-scale battles in case any Fallen appear.
Why the Dark Angels are more important to Warhammer 40K than ever
Their Primarch has returned, the Dark Angels are set to make a big impact in Warhammer 40,000
War Hammer 40,000The universe is slowly moving towards a massive conflict, foreshadowed by the return of the Primarchs loyal to the Emperor. Recently, the Lion Primarch of the Dark Angels, El’Johnson, recovered from injuries suffered 10,000 years ago and returned to lead the Dark Angels. Ten thousand years of stasis changed Johnson, giving him strange teleportation powers that allow him to travel between worlds instantly. Additionally, Johnson created a new unit within the Dark Angels called “the Risen”, made up entirely of former Fallen Dark Angels.
The group also looks set to make a big impact on War Hammer 40,000 universe as it moves towards whatever massive conflict is coming. Johnson’s current objectives are unknown, but he has an aversion to the state of the current Empire and how much it has fallen into stagnation over the last 10,000 years. With the Dark Angels refocused behind him, Johnson could be a catalyst for change within the Empire. It’s clear that the Dark Angels could be a major force in whatever happens next in the War Hammer 40,000 universe, although the exact nature of this conflict still remains unclear.
