One of the most anticipated features Dragon Age: The Veil Guard is the creation of the character and the possibility of customization Towerthe playable protagonist. Arguably, The most important part of character creation is selecting a backgroundas it defines where the player connects to the overall story – affecting dialogue, character interactions, and gameplay bonuses. There are six unique origins that can be chosen from, which determine the faction Rook belongs to, his surname, and a small piece of his history.

Each of the backstories follow similar plots, with Rook often having to forge a new path after doing something that, although they believed was right at the time, angered or provoked another group of characters. The second will allow Rook deal greater damage to a specific type of enemymeaning that certain factions may have advantages in different areas of the game. The ultimate ability is truly unique to the faction and does not follow a specific structure.

There are seven companions confirmed in the fourth edition of Dragon Age franchise – six have a specific faction associated with them. The Antivan Crows are the best faction to play as a rogue

There are three classes in Dragon Age: The Veil Guard – Warrior, Mage and Rogue. If players choose to play as Rogue, then the Antivan Crows could be the perfect backstory to choose if you’re looking for an immersive RPG experience. Also known as The House of Crows, The members of this faction are elite assassins, thieves and spies. While the organization has an equal need for warriors and mages, choosing to be part of the Antivan Crows would provide great world-appropriate character motivations for someone playing a more cunning or sneaky Rook.

Despite the nature of the organization, the Antivan Ravens have a strong sense of honor and do not take betrayal lightly. The companion associated with this faction is Lucanis Dellamorte, a human Rogue with the title of Master Assassin. He has already appeared on Dragon Age: Vows and Revenge podcast and the Tevinter Nights book before Dragon Age: The Veil Guardthe story.

Of all six factions, the story given to Rook if the player decides to be a member of the Mourn Watch is by far one of the most interesting and in-depth. It’s the only option that provides context since Rook was a child – being found in a tomb by the undead and raised by the Mourn Watch Necromancers, eventually becoming a recognized name. This stands out because Rook has no one to definitively call his family in the other backstories. The companion of this faction is Emmrich Volkarin, who also has his own skeleton assistant.

If you’re looking to build a character that does a lot of necrotic damage or a story with necromancy and undead themes appeals, The Mourn Watch is the best choice for a suitable backstory. While there isn’t necessarily a singularly best backstory to choose from Dragon Age: The Guard of the Veil, some are perfect for certain classes and some encourage more player creativity. At the end of the day, Rook is the player who must customize, and he must choose the faction that suits him best.
