Introduced in 2009 Hulk #15by Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness, Betty Ross became Red She-Hulk about a year after the debut of the first Red Hulk – revealed to be Betty’s father, General “Thunderbolt” Ross – a transformation that came about thanks to the evil machinations of the Intelligencia, a group of super-intelligent supervillains determined to create their own controllable Hulk. Kept alive after a harrowing incident nearly killed her, Betty was bombarded with gamma rays and cosmic radiation, resulting in the birth of the Red She-Hulk, giving the original Hulk a new hero/anti-hero to contend with.
