Tim Burton Fantastically Expands the Afterlife Beetle juice with a variety of new characters, some of which he couldn’t even properly introduce. Although half of the film is set in the world of the living as Beetle juiceThe Deetz family comes together to mourn the death of Lydia’s father, Charles, the other half takes place in the frightening and absurd realm of the afterlife. In the 1988 film, the depiction of the afterlife was largely confined to the Nemworld waiting room.Juno’s office and the hallway to the room of lost souls, but Beetlejuice 2 delves much deeper into the tradition of this world.
Some of the new afterlife characters introduced in Beetlejuice 2 include B-movie actor-turned-detective Wolf Jackson, the call center office full of “Shrinkers,” Betelgeuse’s ex-wife Delores, and Astrid’s father Richard, who works in the immigration department. Still, there are many departments, aspects, and figures in the afterlife realm that have yet to be explored and that could make interesting additions to a potential Beetlejuice 3 film. An example can be found in Beetlejuice 2newly introduced pages of Manual for the recently deceasedwhich confirms the existence of a horrible dead character.
Beetlejuice 2 Manual for the Recently Deceased Confirms Grim Reaper
The Grim Reaper performs death for the dead in Beetlejuice’s afterlife
When Astrid reads Jeremy Manual for the recently deceasedshe opens the book to the pages about how to tame a sandworm and the specifics of Code 699. On the other side of the Code 699 page is an image of the Grim Reaper opening the stomach of a deceased individualwith a synopsis about the spirit being provided below. Although the Grim Reaper is a real-world mythological figure who personifies death, Beetlejuice 2The Tim Burton Easter egg offers Tim Burton’s own version of the character and kingdom’s beliefs about his purpose in the afterlife.
According to Beetlejuice 2book, it is unknown why the Grim Reaper “attacks”against the dead, but there are several theories. Some believe the Grim Reaper kills once.”someone’s passage into the afterlife was determined by some higher power, such as.” Others in the afterlife believe the figure attacks after making a joke they don’t like. The book also gives details about the appearance of the Grim Reaper who could finally come to life in Beetlejuice 3like a menacing red glow clouding your eyes when you’re angry or a cold blue glow appearing when you’re “high spirits.”
How Beetlejuice 3 Could Expand to More Afterlife Characters
Handbook for the Recently Deceased opens up more possibilities for Beetlejuice 3
Beetlejuice 2 has already given a few more glimpses into different departments of the afterlife, but there are many more that can be explored, such as the inner workings of the afterlife newspaper that Betelgeuse often reads, a look at the firefighters as opposed to the police force, or even the politicians who can govern the bureaucracy of the afterlife. There are also several groups mentioned in the Manual for the recently deceased that can be expanded through additional knowledge in Beetlejuice 3.
Tim Burton has already expressed doubts about making Beetlejuice 3. The director said The Hollywood Reporter“Well, if [the same] Time passes, I will be around 100 years old. So maybe. I doubt it.“
For example, Delores’ soul-sucking cult is mentioned in Manual for the recently deceased. Beetlejuice 2The flashback showed what appears to be a traditional Soul Sucker wedding, which included biting off a chicken’s head, but didn’t delve into any of his fellow cult members or where the others are in the afterlife. If Beetlejuice 3 happens, then the next the sequel could explore the Soul Suckers wanting revenge on Betelgeuse for Delores Beetle juice fate, which could then pull the Grim Reaper into the plot as a way to expel one of the villains from the afterlife.
