Spoiler alert for Ghosts season 4
Ghosts season 4 added another character inspired by Ghosts (UNITED KINGDOM)but they completely changed his personality. Many ghosts in the US series take inspiration from their UK counterparts. However, some connections are more apparent than others. For example, Pete (Richie Moriarty) from CBS Ghosts is surprisingly similar to Pat (Jim Howick) from Ghosts for the BBC. Both spirits died after a member of their Boy Scout troop shot an arrow into their necks, and they both have wives named Carol, who cheated on them with her best friend. Still, not all ghost counterparts have so much in common.
Some characters from the USA Ghosts the series only resemble the qualities of their UK counterparts. The oldest ghosts in both Ghosts USA and Ghosts United Kingdom, Thor (Devan Chandler Long) and Robin (Laurence Rickard), can control electricity since they died due to lightning. However, the longest-running ghost character is a Viking in the American series and a caveman in the British show. Patience (Mary Holland), the final ghost in the CBS series, is also inspired by a British ghost, but has some significant contrasts. Still, Patience’s ghostly story connection to the UK series could have implications for its future.
Patience from Ghosts season 4 is inspired by Annie from the UK
Mary Holland plays solitaire
Patience, a Puritan ghost introduced into the Ghosts season 4 premiere, is directly linked to Annie (Bridget Christie) from Ghosts UNITED KINGDOM. Annie was a Puritan ghost from the Stuart eraborn in 1670, who died and became a ghost in Button House after choking on a piece of bread. Although Annie adhered to a strict Protestant lifestyle in life, the character was determined to have as much fun as possible in the afterlife. Annie was good friends with Mary (Katy Wix), who was also from the Stuart era and resembled Patience in other ways.
Patience was banished from her puritan community in 1692 and died shortly afterwards. Her community did not want Patience due to her values, which were extreme even within the Puritan community. In the Season 4 premiere, Patience noticed that she was more “no joy” and “strong” than anyone in her religious community, to which the board member responded that she was also strong. Patience wanted a five-year-old girl named Elizabeth Prew to be tried for witchcraft because she was talking to her doll. Although Patience and Annie are of the same religion, the characters have more differences than similarities.
How Ghosts US’ Patience Is Different From Annie’s (And What That Means For Her Future)
Bridget Christie played Annie
Patience is a strict follower of Puritan ideologies in her life and death. In contrast, Annie mocked the values she had to follow while alive and challenged them during her afterlife. Annie encouraged Mary to speak her mind, and one of her favorite things to do was to insult and mock people. “the living”. Although Annie is technically Patience’s UK counterpart, the characters couldn’t be more opposite. Still, their fate may be the same. In the British Ghosts Season 4, Annie was “sucked.” The same could happen to Patience if she loosened her values to care about others.
Ghosts season 4 continues Thursday on CBS.
