Tom Hanks’ New Forrest Gump Reunion Movie Debuts With Bad Rotten Tomatoes Soundtrack

Tom Hank’s long-awaited reunion with Forrest Gump director Robert Zemeckis in Here had a difficult start. His new film is based on the acclaimed graphic novel of the same name by Richard McGuire. The film, starring Hanks and Robin Wright, has an unconventional structure, exploring different moments in time entirely within a single space. However, despite the project’s high expectations, Here failed to impress critics, raising concerns about audience reception.

At the time of writing this article, the film has a 32% rating on Rotten tomatoesmarking a disappointing start to the highly anticipated film. While many reviews praised Zemecki’s risk in making the film, they also criticized its lackluster execution. The score, however, may vary throughout the opening weekend as additional reviews are added. Here premiered at the American Film Institute Festival on October 25th, ahead of its theatrical release on November 1st.

What the low score means here

This could affect box office performance

Critics noted the the film’s experimental structure is more confusing than convincingwith some describing him as emotionally detached and charmless. The Hollywood Reporter David Rooney says: “No one can fully escape the film’s preoccupation with visual technology at the expense of the heart,” he said.hile Odie Henderson’s Boston Globe it says, “Add the broad acting and cliché-filled script to the still-frame format, and “Here” looks like a bad comedy or, worse yet, a school play put on by a group of fifth graders who decided to take on Eugene O’Neill and ‘Death of a Salesman’.”

While Hanks and Zemeckis’ reunion raised hopes for another emotionally charged film, it appears that Here fell short of expectations. This lukewarm reception could compromise the film’s box office performance and awards campaign. Films with low critical scores often struggle to create positive word of mouth, which is crucial for smaller, high-concept films like Here. Furthermore, given the intense competition this awards season, Here may struggle to stand out among other competitors who have already received positive reviews and festival buzz, such as Emilia Perez, anoraand Gladiator II.

Our opinion here is the critical reception

The reviews are still coming

Given the high standard set by Hanks and Zemeckis in their previous collaborations, such as Forest Gump and Castawayboth fans and critics expected a return to form. However, the film’s experimental approach may have turned off some viewers who were expecting a more accessible narrative. That said, it’s not uncommon for ambitious projects like Here receiving mixed reviews before release, only to gain popularity later on.

Even if the film fails to achieve mainstream success, it still has the potential to attract a niche audience due to its innovative concept and beloved cast. If Here Can it overcome its rocky start will depend on how viewers respond when the film is widely released. If audiences can embrace its unique proposition, the film has a chance to create a lasting impression on audiences, even if it isn’t the awards contender many were hoping for.
