The return of the Zombies game mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was well received by many players and praised as a return to form for the fan-favorite mode. The pinpoint gunplay, omni-movement system, and solo save files have been hailed as the best features since the game’s heyday. Black Ops 3. After disappointment with bizarre open-world attempts in Modern Warfare 3of Zombies, Black Ops 6 returns to traditional round-based Zombieswhich has been the structure of the mode since its creation in World at war.
Black Ops 6 launched on October 25th with two zombie maps: Terminus and Liberty Falls. The former is set in a laboratory on an island in the Philippines, while the latter is set in a small town in West Virginia. While both maps have been generally well-received by longtime fans and newcomers alike, there was some constructive criticism of them. Taking into consideration the main Easter egg quests, level design, and whether it’s best for zombie newcomers or veterans will help identify what might be considered best.
Liberty Falls Map Pros and Cons
Perfect for zombie beginners
Liberty Falls was considered a perfect map for Zombie beginners. Getting from one point on the map to another is easy and the crossing benefits a lot from taking ziplines and climbing rooftops. Due to the simplicity of the map, gathering zombies into a queue for slaughter (or “training them”) is efficient and forgiving. The Jet Gun Wonder Weapon for the map is also excellent at helping with this, creating a great combo.
The Liberty Falls Easter egg main quest is also great for beginners. After a bit of luck in getting a specific skill to drop, the steps are relatively simple after that, and there are no real boss fights – instead there are several mini-boss fights. The map is full of other secrets and Easter Eggs to reward the player, which shows that lots of care and attention made zombie enthusiasts attractive to explore every inch of the West Virginia city.
Liberty Falls might be considered too simple for zombie veterans.
Although Liberty Falls has some cool locations, like the bowling alley and the comic book store, the level design is pretty generic. The small town that was ruined due to a terribly violent event seems to have happened hundreds of times before in Call to action multiplayer maps. It is visually unattractive when considering the extraordinarily vibrant designs of previous Zombies maps like Shadows of Evil or Shangri-La.
Although the simplicity of interacting with the map is positive for newcomers to the series, Liberty Falls can be considered too simple for Zombie veterans. Fancy map designs and intricate Easter egg quests are synonymous with game modeso longtime players may find Liberty Falls’ undemanding layout obsolete. The aforementioned quest can be completed quickly if the player also has access to high-level power-ups, which is not comparable to the complex Easter egg stages of older Zombies maps.
Pros and cons of terminal map
A complex experience
Terminus is a step forward in complexity compared to Liberty Falls. The player can explore the ground, a huge underground laboratory, and other islands spread across the huge map. The narrow, claustrophobic corridors of the laboratory, combined with the vast open areas of the islands, create a stark contrast. The addition of a boat to explore the entire map is an excellent feature, both for a quick escape and for getting around the map safely. The omni-movement system also shines on this map, as there are lots of tight corners and ledges to jump over, making every move feel risky.
The complexity of the level design is comparable to the intricate Easter egg questline in Terminus. There are unique codes to remember, difficult boss fights, and challenging area defenses. The quest resembles old maps, which means that Veteran Zombies players will have a lot of fun in deducing and completing it. Additionally, there are several smaller secrets to find and solve, which reward players enormously. The Beam Smasher Wonder Weapon in Terminus is also incredibly powerful, with both of its main moves being useful for combating waves of enemies.
Terminus features a great lab design and thundering sea, but the level suffers from poor lighting. There are often parts of the map that have very low visibility levels unless the brightness is very high. This can be frustrating at times, especially when searching for items in specific corners of the map. Additionally, it can take a bit of time to fully understand the layout of the map, requiring a few extra runs to actually find your bearings. This might make some Zombie newbies angry.especially if this is your first experience with the game mode.
Which map is better and why
Both are excellent in their own way
Both Terminus and Liberty Falls were great additions to the Zombies catalog, thanks to the new features of Black Ops 6. They feature shiny wonder weapons, rewarding Easter egg questlines, and benefit greatly from the new movement system to traverse the map in unique ways. To truly identify which map is best, it’s important to reflect on the two main types of Zombies players: newcomers and veterans.
As an introduction to Zombies, Liberty Falls is an excellent way to start. The basic systems are shown to players in a very clear way, the level design is uncomplicated, and the Easter egg mission is relatively simple. Terminus benefits from a complex portrayal of all the previous aspects, making it more suitable for veterans. Therefore, the best map really depends on the player’s skill level and knowledge of Zombies. However, in terms of unique level design and mission enjoyment, Terminus can be considered a slightly superior map for most players.
Despite Terminus being the better map overall, Liberty Falls is still an excellent experience. The future of Call to action: Black Ops 6 Zombies looks brilliant and players can look forward to what comes next.
