Set aboard a historic recreation of an 18th century schooner, ENDEAVOR witnesses a group of children from elite families invited on a luxury recreational cruise with modern amenities. When unexpected chaos erupts, seven children are trapped on the ship and adrift at sea. As supplies dwindle and children battle the elements, a fierce fight for survival emerges as factions (and betrayals) develop. Phillips and Laming’s sea epic explores primal fears and the desecration of social norms, offering fans an intense, character-driven narrative. In an environment where fear and betrayal reign, each child must decide who they can trust – or if they can trust anyone at all. |
Along with the action expected from a “stranded ship” story, Enterprise promises to be as much cultural commentary as suspense tale, focusing on the abandoned children as they form alliances and factions to survive their plight. Like all DSTLRY titles, it will be available digitally and in prestige-format single editions, with a range of engaging covers to choose from.
DSTLRY Officially Announces Survivalist Stort Thriller ENDEAVOR
Stephanie Phillips and Marc Laming team up for modern style Lord of the Flies
Phillips is a rising comic book writer and Enterprise continues its first DSTLRY project, Life, with collaborators Brian Azzarello, Danijel Zezelj, Lee Loughridge and Jared K. Fletcher, which is currently in the stands and expected to end in January 2025. After a two-year run in Harley Quinn at DC Comics, Phillips is currently also writing for Marvel Comics Phoenixintroducing Jean Gray into the new era of the X-Men, as well as Spider-Gwen. Laming, known for his work on American Century from Vertigo and Marvel’s Star Wars line, joins Phillips to Enterpriseexciting ride, saying:
I was anxiously awaiting Stephanie’s next script, and bringing that vision to life was equal parts stressful and rewarding. ENDEAVOR is a super-taught thriller and, in equal measure, a horrific story that was a pleasure to draw.
If EnterpriseThe story of feels familiar, it should: although the comics play with contemporary social structures, “amenities” and issues, it also clearly extracts and honors the plot of the classic novel Lord of the Flies by William Goldingwhich follows a group of British students who are stranded on an uninhabited island. The novel offers a scathing commentary on humanity’s partisanship and violent tendencies, especially after Golding’s experiences in World War II and the early years of the Cold War. We can only imagine what Phillips and Laming will have to say about human society in the 21st century.
