Baldur’s Gate 3 isn’t a game that’s afraid to challenge its players, and nowhere is that more obvious than the game’s boss fights. Each should be approached as a puzzle to be solved with different strategies required each time. While all the bosses in BG3 are designed to be difficult, some are noticeably more difficult than others.
[Warning: The following article contains spoilers for Baldur’s Gate 3.]From the early stages to the end of Baldur’s Gate 3there are opponents for the party to face that may make them scratch their heads or tear their hair out in frustration. Obviously, with so many classes to choose from when creating a custom character and assembling a party, some will find these fights more difficult than others, as class abilities and synergies play a large role in the game. BG3. While some of these boss fights can be avoided through dialogue, they will all require a little more strategy should the party run afoul of them.

Viconia DeVir
Act 3, Lower City
Viconia is a drow priestess and Mother Superior of the Shar enclave who appeared in both previous games on Baldur’s Gate series. In previous games, Viconia could be recruited into the party as a companion, but in Baldur’s Gate 3 she is, instead, a powerful opponent.
Viconia can be found in the House of Pain in the Undercity, where she is accompanied by a large number of Sharran’s disciples. The fight is tough, as Viconia has the ability to transform into a wolf, heal massive amounts of HP, and cast the incredibly powerful Divine Intervention. Players can defeat her by casting Divine Intervention themselves, but should be aware that they can only use this spell once in the entire game.

Githyanki Inquisitor
Act 2, Mountain Pass
The Githyanki Creche is located in the Y’llek Creche, in a Githyanki base under Rosymorn Monastery. Here, the protagonists face Ch’r’ai W’wargaz, the Inquisitor of the mighty Githyanki warriors. The fight is made more difficult by the presence of four Githyanki companions, three of whom offer ranged support and a fourth who provides up-close support.
While there are many strategies for dealing with this struggle, one of the most effective ways to tackle it is to eliminate adds first. Using Command Drop or disarming ranged Githyanki will drastically reduce the damage they deal, allowing players to reduce support before turning the fight over to the Inquisitor.

Shade-cursed Shattering Mount
April 2, ruined battlefield
The Shadow Cursed Shambling Mound resembles winding tree branches, helping it hide in its environment. Once players enter the Ruined Battlefield, they must pass a DC 30 Perception check. Otherwise, the Shambling Mound will surprise attack the party, wasting the precious first turn and starting the fight at a severe disadvantage.
Facing this area boss at a very low level is inadvisable, as the Mount hits hard and summons many additional enemies to fight. The Mound is an especially difficult opponent because of its “Devour” attack. This move could mean instant death for any party member who is restrained, therefore, the most important part of the battle is avoiding being restrained and freeing trapped companions before the Mount has a chance to devour them.

Bulette
Act 1, The Underdark
The Bulette is a special enemy that hides in the Underdark like a mole rat and occasionally appears to cause problems for players. The enemy is extremely resistant to physical damage, but can be knocked down by high enough level magic.
The enemy usually appears while the player is exploring, as indicated by the ground shaking, attacks for heavy damage, and then retreats underground to reappear elsewhere. The best way to deal with Bulette is to not deal with him at all, as the fight is completely optional. Players can simply focus on surviving the encounter and escape to see another day.

Lord Enver Gortash
Act 3, Crossing of the Wyrm
Gortash is a member of the Dead Three and one of the main antagonists of Baldur’s Gate 3. Your fight requires reflection and strategizing, as running blindly is a sure way to lose. Gortash alone isn’t much of a threat, but the environment and additional enemies make it easy to be caught off guard.
The battlefield at Wyrm’s Crossing is a dangerous crossing thanks to many traps and explosives. Fortunately, these same traps can be used against Gortash and the rest of the enemies. Players can simply pick up bombs from the ground and throw them back at the antagonist for excellent (and free) damage.

Grim
Act 1, Grymforge
Deep within Grymforge lies the guardian of the forge, Grym, a massive construct capable of packing quite a punch and immune to all types of damage. If that wasn’t enough, the party will need to be surrounded by lava for as much of the fight as possible to overheat Grym and make the party capable of damaging him.
Grym’s fight requires a bit of strategy and intelligent use of the environmentas he will need to be drawn to the center of the area so that the forge’s hammer can be used to hit Grym. There is a Steam achievement called A Grym Fate for defeating Grym in BG3 without using the forge hammer, which requires a little more effort and thought, with the party needing to deal massive amounts of bludgeoning damage.

Aunt Ethel
Act 1, Riverside Teahouse
Aunt Ethel offers not one but two difficult boss fights in the game, but by far the hardest of these occurs in Act 1 when the party is still low level. Navigating her lair, avoiding traps and guards, the party will find Ethel deep underground.
Ethel is a difficult fight to face unprepared, as it will split into several illusory doublesMake yourself look like the innocent girl, Mayrina, and use the spell hold person. All of this can make for a pretty miserable time at low levels, but it’s even better when she finally drops.

Gerringothe Thorm
Act 2, The Toll
In Act 2, the party will encounter several members of the Thorm family and each will present their own unique challenge. One of them comes in the form of Gerringothe Thorm, a burly woman made entirely of gold, who will demand that the party give her more gold in order to pass. It is possible to avoid a fight with Gerringothe in BG3 completely, choosing the correct dialogue options, and This is highly recommended as not only will it give you the Penny Pincher achievement, but your fight is ridiculously difficult..
Gerringothe deals more damage to characters the more gold they have and is supported by several Visages to disrupt the party. Despite its appearance, Gerringothe moves very quickly and has very high health, which makes it very difficult to wear down. Eliminating the Grim Visages will reduce her hit points by 100 each time, and collecting the gold scattered around the area to prevent her from using some of her special abilities is the best tactic if a fight is unavoidable.

Malus Thorm
Act 2, The House of Healing
Another member of the Thorm family who will be a tough fight for the unprepared is Malus Thorm, the surgeon found in the House of Healing. Supported by the undead Sisters, Malus can quickly deal a lot of damage as the Sisters dominate the party.
When facing him and his entourage, Ranged attacks work best here, keeping the party moving. However, just like Gerringothe, the fight with Malus can be avoided entirely by choosing the correct dialogue options and having him and the Sisters kill each other.

Yugir
Act 2, Challenge of Shar
Yet another boss fight that can be avoided with the right dialogue, Yugirr is an orthon that the party is sent to kill as a favor to Raphael. If a fight breaks out, then the party will immediately be at a disadvantage, as Yurgir and his merregons and displacer beast will surround them from an elevated vantage point.
With numbers on your side and high ground, this fight could go wrong quickly unless the party manages to reach the same level as Yugirr and his minions. If Yuurgir is killed in Act 2, he will return in the House of Hope during the fight with Raphael. Here it is possible to convince him to help the party, although the DC is very high.

Ketheric Thorn
Act 2, Moonrise Towers
As one of the Chosen of the Dead Three, Ketheric Thorm is the first of BG3main villains that the party will face. The fight is divided into three partsthe first two with Ketheric himself, after his defeat as Apostle of Myrkul.
Ketheric is supported by undead and mind flayers, and that’s before you even get to the Myrkul Apostle fight section. The whole thing is hard work, which gets even worse if Nightsong is killed, so it’s recommended to rest for a long time after the first fight.

Sarevok
Act 3, Sewers of Baldur’s Gate
The antagonist of Baldur’s Gate returns in BG3In Act 3, the party faces Sarevok Anchev in their quest to find Orin. Sarevok alone would be a difficult fight, but he is supported by three Echoes: Illasera, Sendai, and Amelyssan, all of which have appeared in previous games. Baldur’s Gate games.
As each of the echoes is killed by the group, they strengthen Sarevokwho is permanently under the effects of haste, has an impressive 262 hit points and an AC of 20. The fight itself is about managing the party’s buffs and health to counteract everything that Sarevok and the Murder Court can throw at them .

Hunter
Act 3, Cazador Palace
At the end of Astarion’s personal quest, the party will face the master vampire, Cazador. Cazador’s fight is timed and he must be defeated in four to five turns, or he will complete his dark ritual and Astarion will die.
This adds a sense of panic to an already difficult battle, as waves of undead will aid Cazador as he roams the battlefield. The trick to this fight is to use radiant damage and the daylight spell, which will give the party some advantage. Overall, to beat Cazador, the party will have to understand what is strengthening him and what vulnerabilities he has.

Ansur
Act 3, The Way of the Serpent
Ansur is a boss that many may miss on their first playthrough. BG3as the undead dragon is hiding beneath the city. There are no quests directly tied to his location or the Path of the Wyrm, so exploration is really the only way to find him.
That said, some parties may regret doing this, as Ansur is a formidable foe. The fight with Ansur is long, made even longer by his Gather Power ability, which allows him to become resistant to all forms of damage and then release Stormheart Novaa powerful AOE attack that can easily destroy the group.

Rafael
Act 3, The House of Hope
Finally, the hardest boss fight to BG3 this is undoubtedly when the group faces Raphael. After breaking into his House of Hope, the party will end up facing the scheming devil in a fun but difficult battle.
Raphael has many minions at his side, along with your own tricks and a whopping 666 hit points and AC of 27. By focusing on the Soul Pillars and using radiant damage, the party will be able to take down Baldur’s Gate 3the scariest boss.
