Hogwarts Legacy Player Discovers a Cheeky Reference to an Iconic Ron Weasley Moment

Hogwarts Legacy is filled with fun nods and references to your loved one Harry Potter franchise, but a fan may have just discovered an Easter egg that managed to escape players. After players complete their first Potions class, they will have to undergo a quick debrief with Professor Sharp, after which they can head to Hogsmeade and trigger a particularly interesting side quest. After speaking with Clementine Willardsey in The Three Broomsticks, users will be tasked with venturing into the Forbidden Forest while tracking swarms of butterflies.

Posting on Reddit, user DreamingInfraviolet pointed out that the aforementioned quest is titled “Follow the Butterflies”, which is likely a reference to Ron Weasley’s iconic line in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets: “Why spiders? Why couldn’t it be ‘follow the butterflies’?‘”

While it is unknown whether the mission was specifically conceived as a tribute to the moment, the actor Rupert Grint’s line has often been praised, as the actor is actually afraid of spiders. The community was quick to defend the discovery, noting that it was likely an intentional reference to cinema.

Voldemort can only appear decades after the events of Hogwarts Legacybut it’s fun to see a small part of his origin story.

I have to imagine that only die-hard fans will understand the meaning behind the mission title, but those who may not be as familiar with the films will not feel left out because it’s such a small part of the massive game. We can only imagine how many similar references are still hidden, waiting to be discovered.
