Notice! This post contains SPOILERS for Venom: The Last DanceMarvel has already set up how Poison you can come back later The last dance in the Sony universe. As seen in the final film of the Sony film Poison In the trilogy, Eddie Brock and his symbiote were separated thanks to a major sacrifice in hopes of ensuring that the main cosmic villain Knull the Symbiote God could not be freed from his prison in space. However, it looks like there are a few different ways The Lethal Protector could still return in the future.
In Venom: The Last DanceIt is revealed that Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock and Venom possess a codex, the result of their shared bond and life force created after the symbiote revived Eddie from his lethal injuries at the hands of Riot, as seen at the end of the first. Poison film. This codex is the key to Knull’s liberation from the symbiote homeworld of Klyntar, explaining why he sends his symbiote-hunting creatures, known as xenophages, to go after him. Although this motivates Venom to sacrifice himself at the end of The last danceThere are still a few ways the titular symbiote could eventually return and bond with Eddie in the future.
There are still bits of poison left in the Marvel multiverse
There are still bits of poison that survived the last dance
Venom: The Last Dance made it clear that the death of Venom or Eddie would destroy the codex. As such, this is why Venom turns himself in at the end of the film, not only to save Eddie, but also to destroy the key to Knull’s freedom. However, both the beginning and the end of the Venom: The Last Dance establish ways in which Venom is likely still alive.
Although it has been addressed and shown in The last dancethe piece of the Venom symbiote that was left in the MCU seen at the end of Spider-Man: Now, Way Home it was never collected. As such, it stands to reason that a small piece of Venom still exists on Earth-616, which could eventually return to Eddie in the future (if not Tom Holland’s Peter Parker for the MCU’s own Spider-Man Symbiote Saga). In the same way, Venom: The Last Dance The post-credits scene saw the piece of the Venom symbiote that Area 55’s Rex Strickland collected after surviving as a cockroach crawled through the rubble of the secret government facility. As such, it’s not hard to imagine one or both pieces of the symbiote eventually reconstituting themselves as Eddie’s symbiote partner once again.
Venom 3 Strongly Implies Eddie Brock Will Become a Father
“You would be a good father”
It is also important to note that a good time in Venom: The Last Dance is spent teasing a potential future where Eddie Brock will become a father. Having encountered hippie and alien believer Martin Moon (Rhys Ifans), Venom and Eddie end up hitching a ride with Martin’s family, who help him get to Las Vegas. To this end, Eddie ends up having a relationship with Leaf, Martin’s son, more than once.
When Leaf expresses her fears regarding aliens, it is Eddie who provides comfort to the boy and eventually helps him overcome his fears once it is revealed that Eddie is the host of an alien. Likewise, the Venom symbiote himself comments on The last dance that Eddie would be a good father. Bearing that in mind, this could very well be a reference to Eddie Brock’s status in the original Marvel Comics, where he is in fact a father, a revelation that happened shortly before Knull invaded Earth in 2020. King in Black crossover event. Likewise, the fact that Eddie has a son in the Sony universe could have some interesting implications.
Venom may return linked to Dylan Brock instead of Eddie
The current poison in Marvel comics
In the original Marvel Comics, Dylan Brock’s mother was Anne Weying, Eddie’s ex-girlfriend. However, both Eddie and Venom are technically Dylan’s father, explaining the boy’s impressive power and control over the symbiotes that emerged during King in Blackmaking Dylan an important target of Knull himself. Following King in Black and Eddie’s defeat of the Symbiote God, Eddie becomes the new King in Black, while Dylan Brock becomes Venom’s new host. As such, this could perhaps also be a possible future in Sony’s live-action universe.
If Dylan were to be featured in a future Sony project and ended up teaming up with one of Venom’s parts, we could see him becoming a new Lethal Protector on screen, just as he has been on the page since 2021. As such, this would allow Venom: The Last Dance truly be the end of Eddie and Venom’s story, as actor Tom Hardy often said during interviews and in the film’s general promotional campaign. The symbiotic reins could effectively be handed over to the next generation.
Sony’s Marvel Universe Has Already Set Up Another Venom Replacement
The agony of Juno Temple is certainly an option that was created
If Sony decides to leave Venom in its live-action universe, It’s worth noting that they created a replacement symbiote hero at the end of Venom: The Last Dance. After all, one of the few survivors during the battle between the Area 55 symbiotes and Knull’s xenophages was Doctor Teddy Payne (Juno Temple). Having bonded with the purple symbiote that looks a lot like Agony from the original comics, it’s possible that Agony and Payne could make future appearances in Sony projects, especially when and if Knull ends up breaking free to drown the universe in darkness.
“After all, it would certainly be strange if Venom wasn’t involved in a future film where Knull would become the main villain and the main threat…”
That being said, Venom’s eventual return seems much more likely than not. While it may not include Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock, it’s pretty clear that Sony intentionally created more than one way for the Lethal Protector to return later. The last dance. After all, it would certainly be strange if Venom wasn’t involved in a future film where Knull would become the main villain and main threat.
Venom: The Last Dance it is now being shown in theaters by Sony Pictures.
