The first batch of episodes of NCIS: Sydney Filled me with high expectations for the second season of the show. The Spinoff is the first show in the NCIS Franchise to take place outside the United States. The new location allows the show to create interesting stories that wouldn’t be possible in a diner NCIS Series.
This series is an exciting addition to the NCIS franchise and features a team of well-rounded characters. Season 1 also features a series of dramatic storylines and plot twists NCIS is known for. The first season has me excited about NCIS: Sydney Season 2 because it opened up several stories through its short eight-episode run. While The plot possibilities for NCIS: Sydney Season 2 are endless, there are a few I’m particularly looking forward to seeing.

JD’s expanded role in his family after the kidnapping scare
The kidnapping will likely make JD more protective
The NCIS: Sydney Season finale revealed JD’s son has been kidnapped By a wanted criminal for the exchange of the season’s villain, Ana Niemus. A previous episode revealed that JD had a son, but not much else was known about his family life other than that he was in the middle of a divorce. NCIS Shows are known for focusing on police work rather than the personal lives of the team members, but the integration of JD’s son into the case made the stakes that much higher for the team.
What I want to see for JD in NCIS: Sydney Season 2 is an expanded role in his family. NCIS special agents don’t have much time for a personal life because of their hectic workload, but because of the scare that JD had about the kidnapping of his son, Jack, I would like to see JD make more of an effort to be in his son’s life. He clearly cares a lot about Jack, and it was clear in the season finale that the guilt of the kidnapping was weighing heavily on JD since he wasn’t there to stop it.

Bluebird, Mackie and Evie spend time together outside of work
They may be friends with each other outside of work
when NCIS: Sydney First off, Mackey didn’t get along with her teammates, especially JD, but she also didn’t get along with Bluebird, the show’s quirky forensic scientist. The NCIS: Sydney Main characters all have their own personalities and skills, but over time, The series showed the characters warming up to each other. It would be nice to see this continue in season 2, especially with Mackey, Evie and Bluebird.
Episode 7, “Bunker Down,” showed the three characters working and spending time together. And even though it was for a case, it showed how the three agents can work with each other’s strengths and personalities. I would like to see more interactions with the three of them in the mornings before the investigations start or at the end when the cases wrap up. Evie, Mackey and Bluebird are all well-rounded characters with their own motivationsAnd it’s nice to see how the three interact, because they’re different from one another.

A look into Mackie’s mysterious past
Maki keeps her secrets close to her
Mackey is the lead special agent of the NCIS and AFP task force of NCIS: Sydney And it’s clear from the first episode of the series that she keeps her secrets close to her. From her interactions with her team, she is very guarded and composed. Her assembly is probably why she has trouble getting along with Bluebird in the beginning, as she and Blue are complete opposites. Mackie’s guarded personality also hints at a mysterious past.
Episode 4, “Ghosted,” offers a brief reveal In Mackie’s tragic past. While interrogating a murder suspect, Mackie uses her experience in the Marines to relate to the suspect and help him open up to her. Not much else is known about Mackie’s personal life, but from her brief dialogue in the scene, it’s clear that what she saw while on tour weighs heavily on her. I just hope so NCIS: Sydney Season 2 expands on Mackey’s past and helps unravel her guarded exterior.

A crossover with NCIS
It was before with spin-offs
A crossover with NCIS Or his other spin-offs would be an exciting addition to NCIS: Sydney. While a crossover with NCIS: Sydney Seems impossible because of his location, this can happen through video calls or international trips. The show’s creator, Morgan O’Neill, even spoke out and said to “Never say never“ About Ann NCIS Franchise Crossover. Previous NCIS Spin-offs have successful crossovers, which set the precedent for future spin-offs to do the same thing.
If a physical crossover isn’t possible, even a crossover via video call, mail correspondence, or name-dropping would be a fun way to add Easter eggs to long-time viewers of the series.
Crossovers are not limited to physically being in the same location. The Special Agent-in-Charge of the NCIS: Sydney Camera, Ken Carter, appeared via video calls to Mackey and JD. The director of NCISLeon Vance, is also mentioned by name. If a physical crossover isn’t possible, even a crossover via video call, mail correspondence, or name-dropping would be a fun way to add Easter eggs to long-time viewers of the series. A crossover would also help connect the franchiseSince the Sydney location adds distance to the other series.

JD and Mackey’s developed friendship
The two are starting to get along
Something else that would be great to see in NCIS: Sydney Season 2 is a more developed friendship between Mackey and JD. The show starts with them not getting along well and arguing about who is best suited to be the team lead of the combined task force. With Maki’s guarded personality, it takes a while for them to warm to each other. By the end of the season, it seems like the two have developed a trusting relationshipBut it would be nice to see that expand in season 2.
Season 1 reveals JD’s family history and one way that the show could expand on Mackey and JD’s friendship is if Season 2 shows Mackey revealing her family history to JD. It would show that a bond has been built between the two of them. Seeing how the team often works together under dangerous circumstances, A trusting relationship between Mackey and JD would help strengthen the teamHow characters need to trust their teammates in order to survive during stressful situations.

DeShawn and Evie Relationship
The romance was already hinted at in season 1
NCIS: Sydney showed a growing relationship between Special Agents DeShawn and Evie. Although there haven’t been any big moments yet, the two often flirt with each other in a charming manner, which makes me excited for what could happen in season 2. Their relationship also has similarities to Tony and Ziva’s relationship In the earlier seasons of NCIS. It is questionable whether the two will actually get together, or if they will just keep casually flirting.
The biggest moment for Evie and DeShawn’s romance was in episode 7, “Bunker Down,” when Evie thought she was going to run out of air and die in a bunker, so she created a voice tone for DeShawn to find. However, after being saved, Evie deletes the voice note and does not mention it to DeShawn. The mysteries surrounding the voice do as well Their want-they-will-they-they relationship hints at a possible relationship In future times.

NCIS: Sydney needs a new villain
Season 2 needs a replacement for Ana Niemus
NCIS: Sydney Did something that was quite unusual for those NCIS franchise; It has a time villain. typically, NCIS Episodes are self-contained, with each episode following a separate procedural case. Although there are exceptions, the franchise usually follows the typical procedural format. however, Season 1 of NCIS: Sydney Had a consistent antagonist. Ana Niemus was first introduced as a mysterious suspect in episode 1, “Gone Fission.” The team was unable to catch her then, but she reappeared in the last two episodes of the season and played a major role in the finale.
Ana escapes in the season finale after saving JD and his son Jack from being killed by Yaroslav, Ana’s colleague. Her kindness and exit show that this will not be the last time she appears in it NCIS: Sydney. It also opens up a lot for a new villain in season 2. Having an overarching story in the background of NCIS Cases pulls the time together and offers hints about what the finale might entail. Although I hope Ana comes back soon, I think season 2 should introduce a new villain.

Rankin’s role explained
The director poses the biggest threat to the team
The NCIS: Sydney Season 1 finale reveals a massive plot twist. The finale shows JD bluffing an exchange of a wanted felon, Anna, for his kidnapped son, Jack. While JD attempts the exchange in front of Yaroslav, his son’s kidnapper, the team watches via CIA satellite resources provided by Rankin, the team’s director. In a shocking twist, Ana kills Yaroslav and frees JD and Jack before passing Yaroslav’s phone to JD and telling him to “Phone a friend.” Just as JD dials the single number on Yaroslav’s phone, Rankin’s phone starts ringing.
The finale implies a connection between Rankin and NCIS: Sydneys biggest villains. The most shocking parts are that Rankin supplied the CIA with satellite resources to help find JD and his son and that Rankin was the one who encouraged Ana’s exchange for Jack. Had he not helped the team with locating Jack, his connection to Yaroslav would likely never have been uncovered. Currently, it seems like Rankin poses the biggest threat to these NCIS: Sydney Team.
NCIS: Sydney is an Australian crime-police procedural series and is another spin-off in the long-running NCIS franchise. Set in Sydney, Australia, the series follows Special Agent-in-Charge Michelle Mackey as she and her fellow partners deal with various high-profile cases and crimes.
