8 Supes Are Much Badder Than Homelander Could Ever Expect To Be

When it comes to evil 'Superman' characters, there's no denying that Homelander is the most famous example out there. Thanks to the enormous success of The boysalmost everyone knows that Homelander is one of the most evil characters in the Superman archetype. He wasn't a saint in the comics either, but surprisingly, there is tons of Supes in the comics who are even badder than Homelander.

In The boys. Homelander is the main antagonist our heroes face, and the comics take time to explore more characters that threaten the villain. This focus allowed the comics to explore just how evil some Supes were who simply didn't get their time to shine in the TV series. Some characters like Stormfront were reworked to better fit the series, while other characters didn't appear at all. While Homelander may be the baddest Supe on the TV show, there are eight characters with superpowers that are even darker than everyone's favorite Anti-Superman.

This Supe Was a Dangerous Sexual Predator

You'll Never See Shazam the Same

The boys meet the Shazam analogue

Shazam is one of the kindest and noblest heroes in the DC Universe. A child named Billy Batson who is able to take the form of an adult with incredible powers when he simply says a magic word. It's a great character idea and, at one point in his history, Shazam even surpassed Superman. But as fantastic as the idea for the character is, it's also a very easy concept to take in a dark direction.

That's exactly what Garth Ennis did with this anonymous Supe. Although readers thankfully never get to see this, Butcher comments on his crimes and explains that he would use his powers to become an adult and then attack anyone he wanted. Clearly lacking Billy Batson's moral compass, this child was a deeply dangerous sexual predator. While Homelander has certainly assaulted people in the past, it wasn't as often as this Supe, who seemed to use his powers explicitly for this purpose.

Malchemical is much more sadistic than Homelander

Not even Homelander goes that far

The Boys' Malchemist.

There's no doubt that Homelander is definitely sadistic, but he's also kind of a jerk. Homelander really hurts people like a child throwing a tantrum. He doesn't intentionally make complicated plans to terrify those around him. He simply uses his superior strength to intimidate people when he feels the need. This is in contrast to Malchemical, who uses his shape-shifting powers to torture those around him. After using his powers to sexually exploit a teammate, he was demoted to Super-Duper leader.

This only made Malchemical even worse. Forced to lead a group of heroes he considered idiots and beneath him, he continued using his powers to sexually abuse them, as well as attempting to intimidate them into submission, such as taking on the appearance of one of his worst fears in order to attack them. Although Homelander has always been brutal towards those who irritate him, he has never gone out of his way to attack his teammates just for fun.

Lamplighter was a maniacal child killer

Pro tip: avoid lamplighter at all costs

While it's true that Homelander killed children, it took several years of being gaslighted by Black Noir to get to that point. Lamplighter, on the other hand, was more than happy to use her powers over fire to murder Mallory's grandchildren. This attack was so brutal that Homelander and the rest of the Seven happily turned Lampighter in, expelling him from the Seven and turning him over to the CIA. While it was the only way to avoid an all-out war between the CIA and the Seven, it's also likely that this was a crime that most of the Seven simply couldn't support.

Sevens are primarily concerned with money and sexual gratification. It wasn't until Homelander started going crazy that he started killing innocent people. With that in mind, it's clear that Lamplighter is one of the first members of the Seven to prey on innocents and, to make things even worse, kill children. This act alone puts him at a level of evil that Homelander took far away time to arrive.

Oh-Father committed one of the worst forms of evil possible

Oh-Father offers a hard-hitting insight into faith and the Church

There are many different types of evil, but abusing children is one of the worst possible things anyone could do. As evil as Homelander is, he has never tried to sexually exploit children, whether on the TV show or in the comics. This cannot be said of Oh-Father, who is a faith-based superhero. He specifically ran a group called Capes for Christ, which was just a ploy to attract young, vulnerable companions to him. It was well known in the superhero community that Oh-Father sexually abused his young companions, something Homelander even criticizes him for.

Fortunately, Oh-Father died a quick death. After Homelander spoke to him about his plans to take over America, Oh-Father decided to help him and was quickly killed by the American government during Homelander's attack on the White House. While Oh-Father's exploitation of children was certainly evil, there are some characters who did it to a much greater degree or did even more twisted things.

John Godolkin is one of the most evil superheroes

Super didn't stop at brainwashing

Godolkin and G-Men from the comic book The Boys

John Godolkin was the leader of the G-Men, a group of superheroes separate from Vought-America. Although on the surface the group seems like just a big family of superheroes who want to make the world better, their real nature is darker than expected. A twisted version of Marvel's X-Men, John Godolkin was a pedophile who routinely kidnapped children from their families. John would then attack and brainwash them into becoming members of his family.

Almost every member of the G-Men has been assaulted at some point, and anyone who dared defy or escape John was killed and reanimated as a zombie minion. There's no denying that Homelander is evil, but he was mostly gaslit and tricked into being the monster he is, while John Godolkin was more than happy to create a sex cult full of his victims.

3

Stormfront was even worse in the comics

Stormfront is a new kind of evil

Stormfront is one of the most hated characters in The boys due to the fact that he was a Nazi. But the TV show, Stormfront, at least had the decency to try to hide it, only bringing her warped beliefs to light when she felt she was in the company of similar thoughts. The comic version of Stormfront was much more open about the fact that he was a Nazi. Although the TV show changed many characters from The boys, Stormfront has perhaps changed the most with several facts, such as Stormfront being Homelander's biological father and not appearing in the show.

Stormfront was the first Supe in The boys universe, and he was frequently used by Vought to kill dozens of people who stood in his way. For Vought, this was a purely business-driven decision, like wiping out an indigenous tribe so they could drill for oil on their land. Stormfront, on the other hand, carried out these orders with glee, as he saw them as a means of ethnic cleansing, and it was something he did many times for the company.

2

Butcher is a lot darker than most people realize

Don't let the butcher fool you

Although most people don't think so, Butcher definitely counts as a Supe. Since the beginning of the comics, he has been injected with Compound-V, which gives him significant physical strength. Although he is in the protagonist position for most of the comics, he is eventually revealed to be the comics' ultimate antagonist. After killing Homelander, Butcher decides that all Supes on Earth must die and tries to implement a plan that would kill millions. Not only is he after Supes, but anyone with traces of Compound-V in his system.

This means that millions of innocent people would die from having a small amount of Compound-V, even if it wasn't enough to give them powers. To prevent anyone from stopping him from implementing his plan, Butcher kills almost all of his friends, with only Hughie being the last person left to stop him. It's a truly demented plan and definitely puts Butcher a notch above Homelander. Although Homelander intended to take over America, he had no real plans beyond that, while Butcher intended to kill millions of innocent people.

1

Black Noir is guilty of everything people attribute to Homelander

Black Noir is the realest threat, okay?

All over The boys comically, Homelander is accused of tons of horrible things. Like killing innocent people, eating babies, and assaulting Butcher's wife. But the final revelation of the comics is the fact that Homelander didn't do any of that. It was all Black Noir trying to frame Homelander. Black Noir was a clone of Homelander created specifically to kill Homelander if he went crazy. Of course, Homelander never lost it. Sure, Homelander is incompetent, but he tried to be a hero. Desperate to fulfill his life's purpose, Black Noir would frame Homelander for several serious crimes.

Although Vought became aware of this, and even believed that Homelander was the one doing it, they realized it was just a one-time occurrence and continued to let Homelander act as the leader of the Seven. As evil as Homelander has become, he never would have gotten to this point without Black Noir's influence, making Black Noir the most evil Supe of all time. The boys universe still above Homelander.
