UndeadThe iconic villains have been one of the series’ biggest selling points, but the franchise has lacked a central antagonist for years, leaving it in need of a replacement. Although names like Negan, The Governor and Alpha shine at various points in the original series, Undead entered season 11 without a main villain, and hasn’t found one since. Those who live finally revealed the CRM that had been built through a spinoff show, but despite the group’s size and strength, they were defeated by Rick and Michonne.
Although the faction still exists in the zombie universe, they have been freed and transformed into a more peaceful military operation, indicating that they will not become the franchise’s main antagonists as many expected. Despite CRM’s dismal performance, Daryl Dixon seemed to solve the villain problem by introducing Pouvoir, who only got stronger in season 2. Undead the death meant a replacement leader was needed for the group, and although Sabine stepped forward and took command, the spinoff’s decision to kill off such a crucial character continued to create a mystery about who the next main threat would be.
Fear The Walking Dead proved there are multiple threats on the West Coast
Although most of the franchise’s American villains originate from the east side of the country, Fear the undeadThe first few seasons focused on the West Coast, which suggested there were many potential threats. Most of the show’s biggest enemies don’t appear until the spinoff starts moving further east, but that just proves that viewers don’t really know what kind of dangers exist in the Western states. As a result, it is highly likely that some powerful groups have been formed, and many of them will inevitably be hostile to the main characters.
Considering that the Civic Republic was able to build such a populous community in Pennsylvania, there is no reason why states like Washington or California couldn’t also have large settlements. Even if there isn’t a threat like the CRM in the West, there could still be menacing villains out there who might make their presence known to the core survivors. With Undead By continuing to expand his universe across Europe, exploring more of America isn’t out of the question, which means it could lead to interesting new villains taking the spotlight.

UK leaders
The UK may have adopted some ruthless tactics to survive the outbreak
Daryl Dixon season two contained plenty of action and drama, but one of the biggest takeaways from the finale was that the UK apparently survived the zombie outbreak. Although the season 3 trailer shows some mossy environments and run-down areas, one character alluded to the UK being in pretty decent condition in the spinoff’s second season. Assuming the country still has a healthy population, it’s possible that some extreme measures have been put in place for the island to stay on top of the apocalypse.
Therefore, Daryl and Carol may arrive in a relatively stable United Kingdom, but they may not be accepted by the locals. Instead, some ruthless leaders could have been tasked with keeping the country safe, and they are unlikely to be friendly. They may be responsible for Daryl and Carol ending up in Spain, choosing to exile them instead of killing them. It’s also possible that the UK has adopted a similar plan to CRM and is pulling resources from elsewhere, this time on a more global scale, leaving the franchise’s main survivors having to fight them off.

CRM Loyalists
The CRM will likely have soldiers committed to the faction’s original objective
Despite the release of CRM in Those who liveAt the end of the episode, there is no guarantee that the evil side of the faction is gone for good. The deaths of Major General Beale and Pearl Thorne may indicate that the group’s inhumane message died with them, but the CRM has spies all over the world, which means that there are undoubtedly still some people loyal to the original objective. Given how quickly Thorne was won over, despite having long resented the CRM, it’s likely that there are several other soldiers out there who still want to see an elite community capable of surviving the apocalypse.
Just because the Civic Republic now oversees the military unit doesn’t mean all loyalists are gone, and while they may have to be more discreet than ever, the faction will still contain a number of dangerous fighters. The fact that they are spread across the world makes them even more dangerous, as it is impossible to know for sure who is still committed to Beale’s vision. While CRM’s defeat was disappointing, the group could be more fun than ever, becoming a parallel organization working in secret, and could even evolve into the franchise’s main villains.

Designation 2
The mysterious group of villains could become a problem for the Community

Designation 2 has been a relatively hot topic for Undead viewers since season 11, as fans still don’t really know who or what this group is. During one of the show’s final episodes, Connie was being transferred to a place called Designation 2, a community where Commonwealth outlaws are exiled and never seen again. Although the main survivors managed to save Connie, they never discovered the whereabouts of this group, meaning that Designation 2’s connection to the Commonwealth and true intentions remain a high-profile secret.
Fortunately, the group’s unresolved storyline makes them prime candidates to appear in a future project and cement themselves as the franchise’s new main villains. Lance Horsnby’s death alongside Pamela Milton’s demotion means that Designation 2 will not have the same relationship with the Commonwealth, and they may not be getting the resources they need to survive. In response, these mysterious villains may choose to attack the main survivors and start an intriguing war that may finally explain their agenda, while also making them one of the Undeadbiggest threats in years.

The Lady
Dead City’s main villain could go beyond New York
The Croatian may have been the main antagonist for most of the Dead Citybut it was revealed that The Dama was pulling the strings, and her influence could expand beyond New York. Her goal in the spinoff appears to be to consolidate control over Manhattan by recruiting Negan, but once she accomplishes that mission, her power could spiral toward other areas. Given that she had enough resources to kidnap Hershel and put her plan into effect, it’s clear that The Lady is a cunning villain who has solid ideas and knows how to get what she wants.
Managing to reduce someone as powerful and unbalanced as the Croatian to a companion makes it clear that his potential as an antagonist has not yet reached its limit, indicating that a run as the franchise’s main threat is still possible. The fact that The Lady wants Negan Dead City may suggest that she isn’t capable of doing everything herself, but knowing that she needs someone charismatic and influential like Negan on board to truly take power is a sign that she is competent and should be feared. Therefore, the spinoff could elevate her to main villain status.

Negan (again)
The Walking Dead’s biggest villain could return to his evil past
As exciting as it would be to have a new villain like The Dama take charge UndeadNegan’s main antagonist, having Negan return to his reign of terror is equally compelling. He remains one of the best villains the franchise has ever had, and while it would be sad to see him return in his redemption arc, it’s undeniable that the evil Negan is a huge draw to the zombie universe. His charm and charisma mixed with a menacing aura make it difficult not to get involved whenever Jeffrey Dean Morgan is on screen.
Whether he simply accepts the position given to him by the Lady and the Croat or takes it a step further by completely taking control of New York, Dead City teased the return of villain Negan and it would be a big deal. It’s highly possible that the Season 2 trailer is a red herring and that Negan is simply pretending to revert to his old personality. However, if he has truly embraced his dark side once again, there is no way back for the former antagonist, suggesting that Negan could become even more brutal and destructive than ever.

The Remnants of the Pouvoir/Union Alliance
Pouvoir and the Union still have healthy control over France
Pouvoir and The Union teamed up on Daryl Dixon Season 2 after Genet was killed, creating a seemingly stronger front. Although the Union appeared to be one of the largest resistance groups against France’s ruling faction, they eventually formed an alliance with Pouvoir as they attempted to capture Laurent. Their mission ended with Losang and Jacinta dead at the end of the finale, but despite the defeat of the antagonists, the two groups still appear to be together and are arguably more powerful than ever without the adequate resistance to challenge them.
Assuming the joint faction is able to convince its followers to abandon the dream of finding a cure, its dominance over France could extend to neighboring countries and, potentially, abroad. Knowing that Daryl and Laurent will have returned to America, the group can travel there in an attempt to get revenge, or if they still want Laurent deep down. Either way, the Pouvoir and Union alliance has enough personal connection to be interesting and their firepower is also impressive, meaning they have all the tools they need to become Undeadis the next big threat.

Daryl’s spinoff offers the perfect opportunity to introduce the franchise’s biggest threat yet
Daryl DixonThe move to Spain opens up the possibility of a new enemy, giving the spin-off the perfect opportunity to introduce one of the UndeadBiggest villains yet. Without knowing who Daryl Dixon what season three’s main antagonist is or what their intentions are, it’s hard to be entirely convinced that they’ll become the franchise’s next nemesis. On the other hand, the tabula rasa is exactly what the series needs to create an unknown threat worthy of crossing over to America with the main survivors, and would fill the void currently left by CRM and Genet.
Instead of trying to revive or elevate one of the existing enemies, a new face would offer an entirely new storyline. This would mean that, outside of Daryl and Carol, none of the core survivors would know what they were up against, adding an extra layer to the inevitable Community reunion. While it’s difficult to establish a revolutionary antagonist that feels truly unique, Daryl Dixon There’s no need to rush this process, and if done right, Season 3’s villain could become the kind of threat that Undead is desperate for.
