The Winter Wonderland event is returning to Surveillance 2 in December, with lots of freebies for participating players – in addition to the return of 6v6 battles. Winter Wonderland was SurveillanceThe annual holiday season event since the original game's release in 2016, featuring exclusive game modes, exclusive cosmetics, and maps decorated with holiday flair. Since then, it has become an annual tradition, with players looking forward to the unique challenges and festive skins brought by the in-game event.
Last year's Winter Wonderland caused some controversy when instead of rewarding players with event items when they completed certain in-game quests, required players to earn and spend event-exclusive virtual currency called Tickets. Fortunately, things work a little differently this year, with many skins available completely free just for playing. 6v6 Experiments Explained
How Overwatch 2's new 6v6 matches work
Winter Wonderland 2024 also marks the return of 6v6 matches to Surveillance 2. 6v6 was the original match format in the first Surveillance; Surveillance 2 It changed to 5v5 at launch and has remained that way ever since. Outside of unofficial player-made custom games, this is the first time players have been able to participate in 6v6 matches since Surveillance 1 went offline.
To maintain balance and ensure 6v6 matches are fair, players are required to queue the game for rolesin a structure called a function queue. Role queue basically means that when a player queues for a match, they must select whether they want to be a tank, a DPS, or a support. They will be stuck with that role for the entire match, and while they can change characters within the role, they cannot switch.
Also according to justice in this new game mode, Several characters have been rebalanced for 6v6 play. Don't worry, the changes only apply to games played in 6v6 mode, although some characters have also been adjusted in 5v5. For a full list of changes, see the patch notes on the official website Blizzard website. For the highlights, keep reading.

What to expect from Overwatch 2 in 2025
Other updates and changes
Although the 6v6 format is classified as “try“, it's likely here to stay – although it remains to be seen whether this will happen immediately after the current season or some time later. This initial introduction likely serves as a testing period for 6v6 in Surveillance 2helping Blizzard determine whether it's still a viable game mode, and if so, which heroes, game modes, and maps may need to be balanced for it to work.
With the introduction of the new tank hero Hazard, it will probably take a few more seasons before Surveillance 2The list sees big changes. However, he is likely to maintain his regular character update, with the next introduction expected in season 16.
Surveillance 2 also now has another major competitor in the form of Marvel Rivalsa hero shooter that appeared on the scene just over two weeks ago and has already gained immense popularity. (Marvel Rivals also has its own winter event.) As a result, 2025 will likely see some major new content updates for Surveillance 2in an effort to keep it relevant and competitive amid an already oversaturated market. This isn't necessarily a bad thing; These updates will need to be truly innovative and interesting to keep players' attention. But if Marvel Rivals Keep your momentum going, 2025 could be the year of success or failure Surveillance 2.
For now, we can only assume that it will continue to move forward with new seasons as usual, as it is doing now with Season 14 and Winter Wonderland. However, with the absence of a real roadmap, it is difficult to say what the next 12 months will look like. Surveillance 2.
