Black Clover is an exciting shōnen series with a lot to offer both on the surface and just below it. It's a series starring Asta, a boy without magic in a world where magic is valued above all else. Although he is at a severe disadvantage because of his inability to use magic, Asta overcomes obstacles better than any other character in the series and most other anime characters. He is a strong-willed, good-hearted boy who turns into a ball of fun and destruction as the series progresses.
Black Clover does a great job of portraying genuinely heartfelt themes throughout the series. Asta's individual story has many of them, showing a helpless boy turning into a magnanimous young man through hard work, determination, courage and the help of those around you. With these powerful features, it's easy to see why Black Clover could have some great messages throughout the entire series.

Don't judge people before understanding them
Characters in Black Clover Have more depth than most
Most of the characters in Black Clover they are more than they appear to be on the surface. Characters like Noelle, Nozel and even Gray first appear in the series hiding their true selves before revealing who they really are in moments of battle. Noelle begins the series as a proud and naive young woman who despises the rest of the Black Bulls and especially Asta. While it might be quick to write her off as a rude and selfish character, she is much more than she appears on the surface.
After some introspection and help from her fellow Bulls, it is revealed that Noelle in fact, he had a brutal childhood. She is unable to control her magic without the use of a wand, which is looked down upon in the wizarding world. black clover, especially since Noelle comes from a family of nobles. Her brothers, Solid and Nebra Silva, bullied her relentlessly, and her powerful older brother, Nozel, said horrible things to her, blaming her younger sister for their mother's death.
Once everyone could see what Noelle had to endure as a child, it became much easier understand and even empathize with her character. The rest of the Black Bulls worked even harder to protect her, allowing her to relax and become the girl she truly was. Noelle's story is at the forefront black clover, but it's just one of many that tells the story of someone who is much more than he seems. If the Black Bulls had cast her aside, she wouldn't have had the opportunity to grow into a protective and caring character.

Everyone deserves a chance at forgiveness
Forgiveness is a key component of Black Clover
Forgiveness is a popular trope in many mainstream shōnen series. Naruto Uzumaki is famous for using his 'Talk-no-Jutsu' where he can convince a villain to come down from their metaphorical mountain of villainy and help them become the caring person they once were. This worked especially well with Nagato when Naruto convinced him of the error of his ways, allowing Nagato to see from Naruto's perspective, sacrifice himself, and revive all the Hidden Leaf Villagers he had just killed.
Following in his footsteps, there are not many characters better at redeeming villains than Asta. He is exceptional at finding the inherent humanity in those who fight alongside him, just as he can find the good in those he fights against. Characters like Mars, Patry, and even the Witch Queen are influenced by Asta's sheer determination and hopeful outlook. When Asta first met Mars, Mars was one of the anime's deadliest one-man armies, fighting the Clover Kingdom's magic knights with fierce power and an unbreakable spirit.
Asta saw potential in his opponent and, over time, made Mars redeem himself. Not only did he not need to kill anyone, but Asta also gained a powerful ally at the same time. It's a great way to show the power of forgiveness for both the person being saved and the person saving them at the same time.

Overcome your limits
Sometimes you have to do more than you thought possible
Yami Sukehiro is the king of getting stronger when it seems like there are no other options. It's another extremely popular trope found in all good shōnen anime series, such as Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, and much more. When it seems like all is lost for Goku, he will go Super Saiyan and prove even the villainous Galactic Emperor Frieza wrong. When Naruto sensei is killed by the all-powerful Pain, he heads to Mount Myoboku to learn Sage Jutsu. When Yami and Asta's backs are to the wall against Dante, they throw caution to the wind and unlock new abilities in the heat of battle.
There are many moments when Black Clover when it seems like everything is lost. The Eye of the Midnight Sun invades the Black Bulls' battles against the deep-sea dwellers, trapping Yami in an unbreakable prison. Your Bulls fight their hardest against an overwhelming opponent and almost lose their lives in doing so. Instead of giving up or running away, however, each of them goes beyond its own limits in the middle of a struggle to perform moves that even they thought they couldn't do.
Yami becomes incredibly inspired by his own team and decides to do the same – push his limits. He creates an entirely new move called 'Dark Cloak Dimension Slash' that allows him to cut through entire dimensions with just his Katana, dark magic and his unreal willpower. He leaves prison, goes into battle and takes down Vetto with a single blow of his sword. It's that kind of determination mixed with courage that does Black Clover a great watch from start to finish.

Don't give up on yourself
You can always achieve your goals
All themes found throughout Black Clover are top notch, including one of the most prevalent themes found throughout the show - a person should never give up on themselves. Just like those who overcome their limits, those who don't give up on themselves start and end there. While other characters in Black Clover are there to support each other, each character as an individual works hard to ensure that they are always protected, no matter how bleak the situation may seem.
The Black Bulls are the best example of this philosophy, as their leader, Yami, would never allow them to falter in battle. Asta is also a shining starhow there were many times in his life when it seemed as if the whole world was conspiring against him in an attempt to shake his will and break his spirit. After the Grimoire Acceptance Ceremony, Asta is being bullied by a magic user for not having magic. The bully uses his overwhelming power to back Asta into a corner that he cannot physically escape from.
As the bully ridicules Asta, mocking his inability to compete in such a dangerous world, Asta could have given up on himself. He could have resigned himself to his bully's insults and given up before he even really started. Instead of listening to his pessimist, however, Asta He searches within himself for an inner strength that the aggressor could never compare to. He finally pulls out the Demon Slayer Sword, negates the magic attacking him, and quickly knocks out his bully. It's a great example of why never giving up on yourself is one of the best mindsets anyone can have in life.

Hard work beats talent every time
Asta is one of the hardest working characters in the anime
There are many talented characters in Black Clover. The Silvas, the Vermillions and the Kiras make up the noble houses in the series. Each house character has access to a huge amount of mana and even more physical resources to allow them to exist in a different league from everyone else without having to lift a finger. Characters like Asta, however, prove that It's not the talent you receive that makes you who you are, but what do you do with it.
Asta quickly becomes one of the strongest characters in Black Cloverbut it's important to remember that he started out as the weakest. He was a peasant without magic. He has no noble lineage to draw from, no wealth to use, and no real experience in battle. Instead, he had an absolute determination that made him train day after day. His raw will makes him who he is, more than any talent ever could. By showing Asta as the hard-working and unmoving character he is, Black Clover does a great job of reminding everyone that hard work always beats talent.

Trust others for the things you can't do alone
You can't do everything alone
Black Clover is a humbling series because no matter how powerful a character may be, they are just a fraction of themselves without their allies around them. Each character in the series only gets better with their allies, proving that it's always good to count on others for things you can't do alone. Vanessa's Red Thread of Fate ability is a perfect example of this. There have been a few occasions where members of the Black Bulls would have met certain death, but with Vanessa around, they are able to live and fight another day.
Luck is one of the strongest, fastest and most battle-ready characters in the series. He is always the first to enter the fight, and with Rouge by his side, he can fight at his best without worrying about what comes next. It's a great reminder that allies can get the best out of each other, regardless of the situation or opponent. Every time the characters in Black Clover face unbeatable odds, they can count on each other to get the job done.
