From the ballroom fight to Hundreds of beavers for the post-credits joke Deadpool and WolverineThere have been many hilarious moments to be seen on the big screen in 2024 movies. Comic moments in movies create a special kind of magic because laughter is a communal experience. A funny performance or one-liner will provoke laughter in any context, but laughter is especially contagious when shared with a crowd at the movies.
The 2024 comedies brought some unforgettable scenes, like the gym fight in Jackpot! or the debut of Baby Betelgeuse in Beetle juice. Deadpool and Wolverine brought back a long-forgotten superhero for a hilariously anticlimactic appearance and Inside Out 2 introduced a lot of crazy new emotions. Even the Palme d'Or winner — who usually goes for the dull, serious Oscar bait — provided some of the biggest laughs of the year.

Nostalgia leaves too soon
Inside Out 2
When Riley turns 13 at the beginning of Inside Out 2a bunch of new emotions flood your subconscious: envy, boredom, embarrassment and the most uncomfortable of all, anxiety. But when they arrive at headquarters, another emotion emerges a little early: nostalgia. Since Riley is only 13, she isn't old enough to feel nostalgic yet, so the nostalgia is pushed behind the door.
Nostalgia only appears a few times, but she's the funniest new character in Inside Out 2. June Squibb's portrayal of Nostalgia as a kind grandmother who fondly remembers past events (even those that happened just seconds ago) is hilarious and accurate. In one of Inside Out 2In Anxiety's best lines, Anxiety tells Nostalgia that they won't need her until “10 years, two graduations and a best friend's wedding” Everyone passed by Riley.

The Notes app scene
Assassin
Gary Johnson's real-life undercover police work presented Richard Linklater and Glen Powell with the perfect high-concept premise for a crime comedy. Assassin revolves around a mild-mannered New Orleans college professor who works with a police surveillance team to catch people trying to hire a contract killer. When the killer actor is suspended, Gary is called in to take his place - and discovers he's a natural talent.
AssassinThe twisty farce is filled with hilarious moments, but the film's funniest scene is the climactic notes app sequence. Gary goes undercover for the last time to clear his girlfriend Madison's name and uses his iPhone notes to improvise. While Gary serves as Madison's director and scene partner, Madison simply gets on with it, and Powell and Adria Arjona play him spectacularly.

Toros and his henchmen arrive home
anora
The films that win the Palme d'Or and are swept up in the Oscar buzz tend to be dark, serious and dramatic. But Sean Baker anora is one of the funniest films of the year. It starts like a modern day Cinderella story, with a sex worker being surprised by a wealthy client - the spoiled son of a Russian oligarch - and impulsively marrying him so he can stay in the country. But when the oligarch's squad of henchmen shows up to annul the marriage, anora becomes a Coen brothers-style criminal stunt.
Ani's fights with Toros and his henchmen, and the fights between them, are endlessly hilarious. Ani's fierce, no-nonsense bluntness is a hysterical contrast to Toros's deadpan demeanor. This entire section of the film is a laugh riot.

The salon fight
Hundreds of beavers
Mike Cheslik's slapstick masterpiece Hundreds of beavers is the wildest original comedy of the year. It has plenty of hilarious moments, from a high-speed sled chase to a fight with a beaver-based Voltron and a showdown in a beaver dam the size of a Bond-villain's lair. But without a doubt the funniest (and craziest) scene in the film is the ballroom fight that occurs while Jean Kayak tries to escape the dam.
It's like a bar fight Shane through Looney Tunes. The scene's manic energy and cartoonish sound effects epitomize this film's unique style. The hand-to-hand combat is hysterically brutal, with beavers being thrown across the room and crashing into shelves and tables, and the stuntmen throwing themselves (literally) at every absurd beat.

The post-credits reveal about Johnny Storm
Deadpool and Wolverine
As with the previous Dead Pool films, Deadpool and Wolverine is full of laughter. Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and Matthew Macfadyen's Mr. Paradox were a perfect foil for Deadpool himself. Wesley Snipes' claim that there will only be one Blade was a great meta-gag and Channing Tatum's incomprehensible Gambit was a delight. But the Dead Pool threequel saves its funniest scene until after the end credits.
Deadpool and Wolverine has the best post-credits joke since Plane!returning to a previous scene. When Deadpool meets Cassandra Nova, he kills Johnny Storm by apparently making up a bunch of foul-mouthed insults that Johnny said about Cassandra. Deadpool and WolverineChris Evans' post-credits scene hilariously reveals that Johnny actually said all of these things - and Chris Evans' delivery is perfect.
