The story concerns Leila (Lauren Lee Smith) and David (Eric Balfour), a couple who have a deep sexual connection but lack effective communication skills to maintain a real relationship. Avoiding common romance film tropes, Lay with me uses erotic images to break the boundaries of what a healthy relationship is. The film received mixed reviews as it is a meditative film with characters that are almost impossible to relate to. The film also features scenes of unsimulated sexual contact, which is rare when it comes to erotic thrillers.. The fact that it stars some big names in TV, with Lauren Lee Smith a star of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and Eric Balfour of Six feet undermakes the watching experience even more surreal.
