Even in a huge year for the entire X-Men franchise, 2024 has evolved drastically On your ownrole and powers. The iconic Southern Belle not only revealed that she is hiding all of her strength, but she also gained an extra superpower which she is using to keep her team of rogue mutants alive. We'll see how Rogue's true strength was exposed and how she gained her new mutant ability.
2024 saw the transition from the 2019-2024 Krakoan Era of the X-Men to its new 'From the Ashes' relaunch, with a slew of new series establishing the status quo that will apply to Marvel's mutant going forward. In Gail Simone, David Marquez, Clayton Cowles and Matt Wilson Strange X-Men #1, Rogue assembled a team including Wolverine and Gambit, taking on the responsibility of protecting a quartet of young mutants known as the Outliers.
The Outliers are being pursued by the horrible Hag – a ruthless killer who has been trying to capture the young mutants as part of her revenge against Charles Xavier. When Wolverine fought the Witch, she tore the seemingly unkillable mutant to pieces. Fortunately, when Rogue flew to the rescue, she ended up revealing that she is underestimating her strength.
Rogue's new physical strength makes her one of the strongest beings in the Marvel Universe, and certainly the strongest of the X-Men.
X-Men Rogue has the strength of two god-level Avengers
She has kept her true strength a secret until now
In Strange X-Men #4Rogue senses that Wolverine is in trouble, charging into battle against the Witch. Despite the Witch's immense strength and her "darksteel" claws (a new combination for Wolverine's adamantium), Rogue managed to do real damage. She revealed that this was because she possesses the combined strength of Wonder Man and Captain Marvel - two Avengers heroes that exist in the upper echelons of Marvel's physical strength.
Rogue has long possessed an early version of Captain Marvel's powers, forcibly stolen before her redemption alongside the X-Men. However, it appeared that these powers were replaced by Wonder Man's after The Strange Avengers volume 1, when the super-strong hero willingly gave Rogue his abilities to help her save the entire world. It was a redemptive moment for Rogue, who went from a hero using stolen powers to someone trusted with godlike strength.
However, in Strange X-Men #4Rogue admitted it wasn't that simple. Upon defeating the Witch, Rogue reveals that she is "I still have a little mess, a Captain Marvel hidden on the back shelf," despite also having the incredible ionic strength of Wonder Man. Captain Marvel and Wonder Man are incredibly powerful, with only the Hulk existing at a distinctly higher level. This makes Rogue one of the strongest beings in the Marvel Universe, and certainly the strongest of the X-Men.
However, the revelations did not stop there, as Mysterious X-Men went on to reveal that, in addition to exposing his true level of strength, Rogue has acquired a new power that it looks like Marvel intends for her to keep.
Rogue's new superpower seems perfectly poised to become a permanent part of X-Men lore.
Rogue also has a new power
The Leader of the Strange X-Men Absorbed Harvey X's Precognition
Rogue is only able to fight the Witch in the first place because she inexplicably senses that Wolverine is in trouble, so she somehow knows where to find her enemy. It was initially unclear whether Rogue's powers had evolved further, allowing her to sense other mutants, or whether the Witch's magic was at work, and it eventually turned out that neither was the answer. At the beginning Mysterious X-MenRogue and her team paid a visit to 'Harvey X' – a young mutant with a fatal brain tumor. In Strange X-Men #5it is revealed that Rogue accidentally absorbed Harvey X's powers, giving him precognitive instincts.
Although they believed Harvey to be a low-level mutant at the time, it was later revealed that he was an incredibly powerful precog, capable of seeing and manipulating the future. Harvey assembled Rogue's team to find and protect the Outliers, while also ensuring that her powers were passed on to Rogue, giving her an intuitive understanding of the future. An imprint of Harvey X's mind lives in Rogue's subconscious, sharing hints of the future to help her on her mission. And that's where this new power begins...
Rogue is apparently replacing X-Men's iconic Cerebro in the franchise's lore.
X-Men's Rogue Can See the Future, Becoming the New Brain
And Marvel might actually let her keep this update
Harvey X has been shown to have a immense present, the full extent of which Rogue has not yet accessed. Harvey shared visions of the future, including the new 'Bloodhound' Sentinels killing Colossus, Xavier putting on Magneto's helmet, and a new Cyclops taking Scott Summers' place. So far, Rogue can't see the future in such detail, with the remnant of Harvey X feeding her instincts and hunches that will help her face the mutants' enemies. However, in the future, she will be able to harness the full power of Harvey X.
Rogue's new power is a huge change to the status quo, but It's also a small enough update that Marvel doesn't need to remove it quickly once it's served its narrative purpose.. It is possible that from now on Rogue always has precognitive flashes, allowing her to operate as a one-woman Cerebro - sensing the location of mutants in trouble. This is even more likely because the X-Men are feuding with Xavier and don't have access to the equipment they used to locate mutants in need.
2024 turned Rogue into one of two new pillars of the X-Men franchise, but with this added responsibility comes extra power, as the X-Men franchise increases On your ownHe already has impressive strength and equips him with enough precognitive power to keep his friends alive... at least for now.
