Rangers are an often overlooked class. Baldur’s Gate 3 And Dungeons and Dragonswhich is a shame because it’s a superbly customizable class with a lot of great features. Larian Studios was able to tweak a lot of things for Rangers that weren’t working very well, making Rangers a lot of fun and great for multiclassing. So, whether you’re creating your own ranger or adding Minsk to the party, there are certain items that every ranger will need.

The classic ranger conjures up the image of a survival expert armed with a bow and ready to pick off enemies from afar. However, with three different ranger subclasses in Baldur’s Gate 3 to choose from there is a lot of versatility when it comes to gameplay and builds.. These items are ideal for repairing damage, enhancing ranger spells, or increasing overall durability.

Elven Chain – Rare Medium Armor

Can be purchased in the third act from Exxvikyap.

Elven chain

is a fantastic piece of armor that would work well for any character as it grants proficiency with medium armor rather than requiring it as a prerequisite. The armor’s base AC is 14 plus the wearer’s Dexterity modifier, up to a maximum of two. However, the Elven Chain is especially useful for rangers, as this provides advantage on Dexterity saving throws and a plus-two bonus on Initiative rolls.. This bonus is great for multiclass rogue and ranger builds that rely on high initiation rolls.

Agility Armor – Very Rare Medium Armor

Can be purchased in Act 3 from Gloomy Fentonson.

Rangers, like rogues, often have the highest Agility in the group and Agility Armor

helps them make the most of it while providing excellent protection. Armor offers basic AC 17, but then allows you to add the owner’s full Dexterity modifier. instead of being limited to two like many other medium armors do. Agility armor also works well with stealth-focused rangers, as it does not impose disadvantage on Stealth checks and provides a plus-two bonus on all saving throws.

While Rangers may not have access to many spells, they do have some excellent utility and damage-dealing spells that require concentration, perhaps the most famous being the hunter’s sign. Strange conductor ring

this is a great item because it allows the owner deal an extra 1d4 psychic damage with their weapon while they concentrate on the spellwhat a ranger should always have with hunter’s sign. The ring can be found in an elegant chest in the chambers of Inquisitor Illek’s manger.

Circlet of the Hunt – Very Rare Circlet

Can be bought in the second act from Arai Oblodra.

Talking about Hunter’s MarkThis is a must-buy for any Ranger as soon as they meet Araj Oblodra in Act 2. Wearing this hoop the ranger will have a 1d4 bonus to attack rolls against marked targets. To Hunter’s Mark

Sometimes, no matter how stealthy or how far from the main battle a ranger is, he will inevitably draw enemy fire. Cloak of Displacement is a great choice that will make them harder to hit as it imposes disadvantage on an opponent’s attack rolls against the owner at the start of the owner’s turn each round. The effect lasts for two turns or until the ranger takes damage.

Found in Act 2, inside the House of Deep Shadow.

The Ring of Mental Suppression is a great item that allows the wearer to work with other spellcasters in the group. When an enemy fails a saving throw against one of the owner’s spells or actions, e.g. call for barrage firethey suffer Mental Fatigue for two turns. This imposes a minus one penalty on Charisma, Intelligence, and Wisdom saving throws. while they are under the influence, giving other spellcasters a better chance of their spells working.

Harold – rare heavy crossbow

Many may be confused about missing out on a secret companion, but Harold is a shiny heavy crossbow that can be obtained as a quest reward in Act 1. When the ranger is holding Harold, every time he deals damage with the crossbow, the target must succeed on a Charisma saving throw or be affected Bane

Adamantine Scale Mail – Very Rare Medium Armor

Can be crafted in Act 1 of the Adamantine Forge.

is a fantastic early game armor that I usually keep in my group until Act Three. Wearing this armor, ranger Immune to critical hits, and all incoming damage is reduced by one.. Hell’s Twilight Boots – Very Rare Boots

Can be found in the third act in the Wyrm’s Rock Fortress.

Part of the Hell’s Dusk armor set, the Hell’s Dusk Boots, can be found in Gortash’s chambers in a locked, gilded chest. While wearing these boots, the ranger will be able to ignore difficult terrain, cannot be knocked down, and cannot be moved by force spells or enemy actions. Boots also give them the opportunity use your reaction to succeed on a failed saving throw once per long rest.

Dead shot Doubles the user’s proficiency bonus for ranged attacksand also reduces the amount required for a critical hit by one. This almost guarantees a hit with plus eight bonuses to Act 3, as well as other items such as Elixir of Malice

To further lower the critical strike threshold, the chances of dealing lethal damage are increased.

Another fantastic item for those looking to lower their critical strike threshold is Knife of the Undermountain King

which can be purchased from A’jak’nir Jira in Illek Manger. I love this short sword and will keep it on hand throughout the game for different party members, as it is also a great item for rogues in BG3. In addition to reducing the number of critical hits by one, the sword gives the wearer advantage on attack rolls against slightly or heavily hidden targetsmaking it especially effective in Act 2 Cursed Lands.

Heritage of the Masters – very rare gloves

Can be purchased in Act 3 from Dammon.

Increasing damage and accuracy is always good, especially as the game progresses and enemies tend to favor higher AC. Assuming he survives until the third act, Dammon sells Heritage of the Masters
