New game promotions caused controversy at last year's Game Awards, with many viewers criticizing the amount of advertising aired during the show. Some of the 2023 winners were hastily removed from the stage in the middle of their acceptance speeches, while photos of a teleprompter at the event urged presenters to “Please wrap” went viral on social media. Although there was a lot less rush this time, that doesn't mean there were fewer announcements. As always, a significant portion of The Game Awards 2024 runtime was dedicated to announcing games, DLC, and other new releases shortly.
