2024 is coming to an end and with it comes another great year for manga. Whether it was a manga that had been running since 2023 and beyond or those that had just debuted, there were a lot of great manga to read, and no matter what someone liked, there was always something for someone to invest in.

Many excellent manga were published throughout 2024, and naturally, some manga stood out more than others. Whether it's because of great artwork, stellar storytelling, or some combination of the two, The best manga of 2024 were those that had the best presentation both narratively and artisticallyand this is true for both ongoing manga and manga that just started in 2024. Some manga, in particular, deserve special mention, as each will be a great read for fans old and new in 2025 and beyond.

As is common in Sal Jiang's works, Wicked Place uses great artwork and panels, combined with engaging character writing, to tell a fun character-driven story with lots of good things Yuri to balance things out too. The story has only just begun, but it looks like a fun read nonetheless.

Eventually, Marie realizes that several women she despises are responsible, so to change her fate, she decides to seduce the women who would kill her, one by one.

The princess who defies death succeeds largely because of its parody style and unabashedly terrible protagonistwith Marie's selfishness always a great source of comedy. Add in a nice art style and it's a great series for anyone looking for a new villainess manga.

Hima-Dez!

Manga by Genki Ono; Serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump

Genki Ono Hima-Dez! stars Tenichi Iemori, a part-time cleaning lady, and Himari Yoshino, a popular influencer who has her own line of makeup products. The two initially don't have much in common, but this changes when Iemori is assigned to be Himari's new cleaning lady, forcing them to bond in many ways.

Hima-Dez!'s writing hits all the classic tropes of a harem romantic comedy, but thankfully, the seriousness with which Hima-Dez! executes its clichés does a lot to keep the story from feeling boring. Shonen Jump hasn't had a straight-up romantic comedy in a while, and thankfully Hima-Dez! did a great job filling that void.

Frieren: beyond the journey's end

Manga by Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe; Serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday since 2020

Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe Frieren: beyond the journey's end entered a new arc that sees Frieren and other mages protecting Serie from an assassination attempt by the Empire. Doing so pits them against the Empire's elite fighters, creating one of the toughest fights in the entire series.

In addition to having the same excellent art and distinctive writing as the previous arcs, Frieren: beyond the journey's endThe last arc of is great for how much life there is due to the return of older characters like Ubel, Land and fan favorite character Sein.. The series has just gone on another hiatus, but we hope it won't be long before it returns to such a phenomenal story arc.

Astro Royale

In Ken Wakui Astro RoyaleA sudden meteor shower not only destroyed most of Japan, but also gave some people dangerous supernatural abilities called Astros. The Astros' power has only added to Japan's chaotic state, and the only one who can make things right is Hibaru Yotsurugi, the heir to a notorious Yakuza clan with a noble heart and a powerful Astro.

Although the series started off a little slow, Astro Royale slowly evolved into a great manga with standout character writing and fun fight scenes. Astro Royale is Ken Wakui's latest series Tokyo Avengers fame, and anyone who was a fan of it will find a lot to love here.

CenturyArt's excellent action and incredible art made it a standout dark fantasy series from the moment it debuted; Simple fantasy stories are always great to see, and anyone looking for a new one would be remiss to pass on Century.

Manga by Osamu Nishi and Shiro Usazaki; Serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump since 2024

Osamu Nishi and Shiro Usazaki Ichi the Witch stars Ichi, a young hunter who kills a creature called Majik and gains magical powers. The act is treated as a marvel both because of Majik's power and because until then only women had magical powers.

Ichi the WitchThe panels, character designs, and overall artwork are some of the best of any Shonen Jump manga nowresulting in a series that only gets better with each chapter. The team of Osamu Nishi and Shiro Uzaki proved to be excellent, and Ichi the Witch It's easily the best new thing Shonen Jump manga from 2024, by far.

In Makoto Raiku Zach Bell! 2Zatch and Kiyo went to see the only person who was already working on a plan for the new threat: Doctor Riddles. Unfortunately, Doctor Riddles was cursed by a new enemy and would die unless the caster or someone else died first, forcing Zatch and Kiyo into a race against the clock to save their friend.

In addition to the always beautiful art and fight choreography, Zach Bell! 2The latest arc did a phenomenal job of mixing heartwarming drama with incredible comedy.. Zach Bell! 2 continues to be a perfect sequel to the original series and 2025 will certainly be no different.

Dandadan

Manga by Yukinobu Tatsu; Serialized in Shonen Jump+ since 2021

After countless trials and tribulations in Yukinobu Tatsu's life, DandadanMomo and Okarun eventually tracked Okarun's missing testicle to Unji Zuma, a local delinquent with supernatural abilities based on an umbrella. Unfortunately, Momo's attempts to get him back result in her and Zuma becoming trapped in a bizarre board game, and getting out is as challenging as it is bizarre.

The unfolding of Zuma's tragic backstory gave the Danmara arc some of the best writing of all time. Dandadansomething that was perfectly complemented by the always stellar artwork and fight scenes. There has never been a bigger change to the status quo and it will be great to see where it goes from here.

In Mozuku Sora and Higoro Toumori The Bugle Call: Song of WarLuca and his troop continued to hunt Garland and finally cornered her at the right base. Unfortunately, opposition from the deadly Akira made killing her even more challenging, and after the fight, Luca discovered the incredible truth behind the Needles and the bewitched Branch.

The Bugle Call: Song of War continues to have some of the most inventive and engaging fight choreography of any manga todayand has just completed its second year of serialization. bugle call will be officially released in English in 2025, and it's a manga everyone should read if they aren't already.

Manga by Eiichiro Oda; Serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump since 1997

After the end of Kuma's flashback in Eiichiro Oda's film One piecethe Egghead arc only became more chaotic with the Five Elders' all-out assault and Vegapunk releasing a dying message into the world. New truths of the world were revealed both within and outside the universe, and this left the status quo of the series forever changed.

Between the various twists and turns of Egghead's ending and the excitement of the Straw Hats finally getting to Elbaph 2024 was an incredible year for One piece as the story continued effortlessly into its final saga. The long-awaited Elbaph arc will certainly be a highlight of 2025, and it will be great to see it finally unfold.

In Kei Urana GachiakutaAfter a major revelation of Rudo's heritage, he and the cleaners visit Kuro, an enigmatic information broker who can answer a single question about their world. The search for answers led to another dramatic fight against the Raiders, and from there, one great truth after another was revealed in-universe and out.

Between the elegant art and the huge story reveals and plot twists, 2024 was one of the strongest years for Gachiakuta to date and has firmly established him as a standout Shonen manga. THE Gachiakuta The anime is set to premiere in 2025, and with that in mind, 2025 will be an unforgettable year for the series.

After Sojo's defeat in Takeru Hokazono's match KagurabachiChihiro and friends old and new stepped forward to stop the Rakuzaichi, an annual auction that would include the Shin'uchi, the most powerful of enchanted blades. From then on, Chihiro joined the Kamunabi to protect the wielders of Hishaku's enchanted blade, but even that quickly turned into a problem.

2024 was Kagurabachifirst full year of serialization, and sure enough, the great writing and creative fight scenes of Kagurabachi continue to make it one of Shonen Jumpthe best manga currently running. Kagurabachi It's only going to get better, and anyone who hasn't read it is missing out on the opportunity to do so.

Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura's Neo Selfish League arc Blue Lock finally entered its final match: Germany's Bastard Munchen vs. PXG from France. Both teams were undefeated and featured the best players in Isagi, Kaiser, Rin and Shidou, and the winner would determine once and for all who was the best player in the Blue Lock.

Between big character moments and some of the series' most stunning visuals to date, Blue LockThe last match of is quickly proving to be the best match in the entire manga. Blue Lock has never been so exciting and easily stands out as the best manga of 2024.
