With over twenty seasons to his name, Dimension 20Its varied and hilarious seasons have helped make Dropout one of the best streamers available. Dimension 20 is similar to other reality game shows like Critical roleWhere the cast of talented performers improvise their way through a massive story enhanced by TTRPGs like Dungeons & Dragons And Kids on bikes. But, though Critical role Campaigns can last over a hundred episodes, Dimension 20 Often hops between casts and settings for shorter seasons that range between 4 and 20 episodes. Trying to figure out which seasons are the best can be deceptively tricky.
Make no mistake, each of the show’s twenty-plus seasons has its own strengths. The nature-focused “Barrow’s End” and “Mice and Murder,” the noir-style Inside out World of “Mentopolis,” Monster College of “Scream Week,” and “Tiny Heist’s” fairy tale heist are all strong solo-season stories, and the various other seasons and spin-offs of the hit show are also hilarious and affecting. . Despite the overall strength of the show as a whole, some seasons are just point-for-point more compelling, dramatic and hilarious than the rest. These are the top fifteen seasons of Dimension 20, ranked.

Shrek awake
Season 12
Dimension 20 is so beloved among the many TTRPG shows out there due to how unique the settings of many of its campaigns are, and season 12, Scream Week, is one of the best examples of this. DM’d by Gabe Hicks, Shriek Week has a reduced group with only four players due to COVID-19 restrictions, although this ends up creating a more intimate viewing experience compared to some other seasons with a larger group.

Scream Week was also the first season of Dimension 20 not to include Brennan Lee Mulligan in any capacity (and only the second with a guest DM). Scream Week is set at Bram University, a school where monsters can enroll and learn about humanity with the goal of integrating better into human society.
Scream week was full of many nods and cameos of monsters from real-life myths and legends. Legendary horror author Bram Stoker founded Bram University alongside Dracula, for example. This spooky flavor combined with veteran cast members Ally Bearsley, Dani Fernandez, Ify Nwadiwe and Lily Du led to the four-episode season being one of the best bingeable short watches in Dimension 20 History.

Tiny Heist
Season 5
Season 5, Tiny Heist, was the second Dimension 20 Side Quest, and like Shriek Week, it stands out primarily due to its incredibly innovative setting. Tiny Heist involves the players taking on characters of an extremely tiny size, such as fairies, bugs and even living toys. The general idea is more-or-less honey i shrink the kids Although with a heist adventure thrown into the concept.

To make the combination of adventure and shrinking history even more hilarious, the group’s goal is to find and steal a roll of quarters. The various boards and maps add to the flavor, and still serve as some of the best examples of Dimension 20 Use the elements of TTRPG to enhance the viewing experience.
Tiny Heist takes inspiration from a variety of sources along with the simple idea of adventuring as tiny characters in the modern world. Many aspects are clear nods to existing movies, shows and games, such as the talking toys reminiscent of Toy Story. Brennan Lee Mulligan leads as the DM, who (as fans of Dimension 20 knowledge), more or less guarantees it will be a satisfying adventure to watch over. Adding to the hilarity is the presence of four of the McElroy brothers, whose natural chemistry with one another leads to many laugh-out-loud moments.

Mice & Murder
Season 9
Of Mice and Murder, the 9th season of Dimension 20Stands out for several reasons, although a key one is that it was filmed during the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, meaning that all 10 episodes only have the players remotely. Although this definitely detracts from Of Mice & Murder compared to the many seasons of Dimension 20 Where the cast is in-person, it also adds something lovable to many viewers.

Lockdowns and other restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic allowed many to discover TTRPG’s like Dungeons and Dragons For the first time, playing with one another on video messaging platforms like Zoom, Teams and Discord. This gave Mice & Killing something of a nostalgia factor for many Dimension 20 fans, because it brings back memories of similar gaming experiences they also had during the pandemic.
Most of the cast of Mice & Murder are newcomers to dungeons and dragons, Which also led to some hilarious moments. The setting is also particularly interesting, as it is set in the 1905 of an alternate universe where the Earth is inhabited by anthropomorphic animals. Throw in a mystery where the party have to solve a murder at Squire Badger’s 60th birthday party, and Mice & Murder makes for a unique and charming Dimension 20 season, even if most fans do not consider it the best.

The seven
Season 11
For fans of Disney princesses, the seven is probably the best season dimension 20, As the side quest has a lot of fun with the various tropes of the leading ladies of classic Disney movies – as well as a healthy number of parodying teen movies and the high school experience in general. The Seven takes place in the Fantasy High setting of the first ever Dimension 20 campaign, although it focuses specifically on the characters of the Maidens.

The adventuring party in The Seven are all female players, which adds to the hilarity as each is able to draw on their own personal experiences in high school. While this Dimension 20 Season may not be the most serious (even by the standards tongue-in-cheek approach to Dungeons & Dragons (which makes the entire show so popular), the 10 episodes manage to be laugh-out-loud funny without sacrificing a cohesive narrative.
The Seven was the second season to be filmed in-person with all cast members present following the COVID-19 pandemic, though with some restrictions still in place, there remains a notable absence of group shots. The season is also notable for using 3D virtual maps to represent the action taking place, rather than actual maps on the table or 2D representations.

A crown of candy
Season 13
The third Intrepid Heroes campaign of Dimension 20 was season 6 of the show overall, and it featured one of the most innovative settings for a Dungeons & Dragons Adventure so far. A crown of sweets took place in the world of Kalorum, a world where each kingdom represents a different food group in the nutritional pyramid. These include Candia, land of sugar, Vegetania and Fructera for vegetables and fruits, and even the Milky Islands.

A crown of candy is one of those Dimension 20 Seasons that epitomize what makes the show so popular. Despite the map and general aesthetic, it seems like the adventure takes place somewhere not different from the candy kingdom in adventure time, A Crown of Candy manages to perfectly balance bombastic weirdness with solid fantasy role-playing and epic adventure.
Surprisingly, given the bubble aesthetic of the maps and set pieces, A Crown of Candy is also one of the deadliest Dimension 20 campaigns as far as the player characters are concerned. Each player had to create a backup character just in case (although only two ended up being used). All in all, A Crown of Candy remains one of the most unique seasons of the show, and it would probably be higher if it weren’t for later returns to the world of Kalorum to do the setting even more justice.

The rest of the cast is equally solid, with May, Sasha and Wetzel each bringing unique energy to the season. Bhullar also matches their skills, especially with her surprisingly effective wildcard Florina. An orphan the Fang gang encounters, Florina and her multi-pronged presentations about why they should hire her Highlight the relentless comedic energy that propels “Coffin Run.”

Escape from the Bloodkeep
Season 2
A breakneck pace full of unexpected deadly turns Helps keep the hilarious “Escape from the Bloodkeep” on track. What highlights the season is the core cast and their interplay with Mulligan. The manic Avanash and dark-witted Percival are both hilarious NPCs in their own right, but it’s the cheerful halfling Galfast Hamhead and her unexpected rivalry with Matthew Mercer’s Leiland that stand out as One of Dimension 20’s best comedy duos.

The Ravening War
Season 17
The prequel to the previous season’s “A Crown of Candy,” The tight focus of “The Ravening War” helps keep the sprawling fantasy epic grounded. Both stories are set in the land of Kalorum, a take on Candyland pictures with a Game of Thrones Do. The Ravening War is set years earlier and reveals how a massive conspiracy set the stage for the events that took place in A Crown of Candy. The only season of Dimension 20 so far DM’ed by Critical roleMatthew Mercer, “The Ravening War” benefits from a tight character focus.
While the previous season in Kalorum established the massive world, the sheer scale of the cast can make things difficult to follow. rather, “The Ravening War” has a compelling cast of five main characters Who find their morals tested by promises of power and purpose that still remains hilarious. Already a famous DM, Mercer fits in perfectly Dimension 20‘s silly and loose approach to epic storytelling.

Season 1 is honestly just as strong as the second season and does a great job of building the setting. However, characters like Cody Walsh and villains like Null Elevate season 2 to new comic and supernatural heights.
Even being filmed during the height of the pandemic (forcing the season to be largely conducted remotely) couldn’t bring down the energy for an exciting season. The unsleeping city will return with a live show at Madison Square Garden, Which could build off the events of previous seasons and potentially push the world forward in unexpected ways.

Misfits and Magic
Season 10
The first campaign DM’ed by Aabria Iyengar, “Misfits and Magic” is one of the best parodies of Harry Potter out thereWith a strong sense of commentary on the source material that never gets lost from the audience. “Misfits and Magic”, which takes place at a magical academy in Britain, focuses on a pilot program to bring four American magic users – Jammer, Dream, Sam and Evan – to the school as older teenagers.

A decidedly meta take on the premise, these four teens are largely aware of real-life pop culture as Harry PotterEstablish an effortlessly funny back-and-forth between Aabria and the cast. Dream and Sam are uniquely specific and universally stupid teens, And Jammer is one of the best examples of Dimensions 20’s surprising gallery of well-meaning goofballs.
But Evan is the highlight, a reluctant and exhausted “dark one” who just wants to be left alone. One of a handful of times Mulligan was a season one cast member, his Evan is simultaneously one of the show’s most tragic and stupid characters.

Dungeons and drag queens
Season 18
“Dungeons and Drag Queens” is one of the shortest seasons of Dimension 20Only running for four episodes. However, the unique cast comprised entirely of drag queens prove to be perfectly suited for a short and silly exploration of the underworld. These seasons focus on Troyánn, Princess, Gertrude and Twyla, otherwise known as the Questing Queens.

The four performers quickly adapted to the improvisational elements of the show, bringing unique perspectives to the series thanks to their high-energy performance and play. As famous drag queens in real life, the four players adapt to the fantastic and silly world with ease.
The foursome (especially Twila) are especially great additions to the pantheon of the 20 dimensions.Whose antics throw even a seasoned DM like Mulligan for a loop. While the adventure may have been relatively short, the show will return to the setting with the upcoming “Dungeons & Drag Queens” season 2.

A lot of flowers and flowers
Season 15
DM’ed by Aabria Iyengar, “A Court of Fey and Flowers” is a unique entry in Dimension 20 For actively resisting combat as a key element. Instead, inspired more by the works of Jane Austen than expansive fantasy settings like Lord of the Rings Or Harry Potter“A court of fairies and flowers” ends A much more cerebral and character-driven season.

It’s also a consistently hilarious season thanks to some really wild decisions made by Mulligan, Wilson and Oxford, who use their characters to push the comedy as far as possible, up to and including Mulligan eating an actual feather at the table. It is a silly and highly sweet time, and arguably Dimension 20The best showcase for how well romance can work in this show format.

Fantasy High (Freshman Year)
Season 1
“Fantasy High” is the first and perhaps most wide-reaching season of Dimension 20. Described by Dropout as “John Hughes meets D&D,” the (currently) three-season series focuses on six students dubbed the “Bad Kids” as they attend the Aguefort Adventuring Academy.

The loose improvisational approach enhances the comedy as Fabian, Kristen, Gorgug, Adaine, Riz and Fig explore the world of Spire, a fantastic approximation of the typical suburban setting of most teen-centric films.
The unexpected swerves taken by both the players and DM Brennan Lee Mulligan Add in the unexpected tense moments between comedic digressions, with the sheer scale of the universe benefiting the comedy in impressive ways. What elevates season 1 above the rest is the surprisingly open and vulnerable emotional moments, like Adaine’s late-game panic attack. There’s a reason this season has three more seasons, as well as a number of spin-offs like “The Seven” and “Pirates of Leviathan.”
2
Never yet
Season 16
“Neverafter” serves as Dimension 20’s self-proclaimed “horror” season, focusing on twisted versions of classic folklore. As the stories of Cinderella, Puss in Boots, The Frog Prince, Pinocchio, Red Riding Hood and Timothy Goose become increasingly warped, they find themselves exploring a fantastical realm filled with malevolent monsters and unspeakable evils.

While “Misfits and Magic” uses the story’s meta-elements to satirically poke fun at the source material, “Neverafter” fuses that Self-aware storytelling with mystical and cosmic horror that would feel perfectly in place alongside the creations of Guillermo Del Toro. Nevertheless, the show retains its Core focus on character-driven comedy and dramaWith the show’s central cast delivering some of their finest dramatic work over the course of the season.
The comedy also remains as solid as ever, including some of the cast’s best digressions. This is also the season that is still together with the behind-the-scenes show Adventuring Party is highly recommended, as the interplay between the cast in the aftermath of such high drama is often just as funny as the show itself.

It also features some of the best action of the series, with the Red Hot crew using creative methods to avoid (and survive) truly staggering threats. The season is playing with Dimension 20s underlying themes in compelling waysWith a strong moral about the strength of the collective and resistance to unrestrained capitalism, rough control, and deserved power. It is also, like every season of Dimension 20, an often hilarious affair. “A Starstruck Odyssey” is the best season, determined by the show’s core cast firing on all cylinders and some of Mulligan’s best work as a DM. Dimension 20.
