14 years later, that part of Shrek Forever still bothers me (and Shrek 5 must fix it)

Fear forever after took the title ogre to an alternate timeline and back to its main, but there is one thing at the end that still bothers me and Alarm 5 Must fix it. Back in 2001, DreamWorks Animation brought fearLoosely based on William Steig’s 1990 picture book of the same name. The success of fear Founded DreamWorks Animation as a competitor to Pixar and helped the studio grow, while also spawning a media franchise that now covers movies, spinoffs, TV shows, musicals, short films and more.

fear introduces the audience to the titular ogre (voiced by Mike Myers), who, with the help of his new friend Donkey (Eddie Murphy), rescues Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz) and breaks her curse, which permanently leaves her as an ogre. The following movies continued the story of Shrek and Fiona along with Donkey and saw them forming a family. the fourth movie, Fear forever afterdoes it differently by introducing Rumpelstiltskin (Walt Dohm), who takes Shrek into an alternate timeline—and that’s why there’s one more part that bothers me.

Fear Forever still brings the ogres back for the dance party

Shrek Forever still continues the dance party tradition

Fear forever after ogres at the dance party

at the end of Shrek the thirdShrek and Fiona became parents to triplets, that’s how Fear forever after Catch up with them some time later. Shrek and Fiona were doing great with their new responsibilities and activities as parents, but it soon became monotonous for Shrek. Rumpelstiltskin, who was already mad at Shrek when he accidentally ruined his best deal in the events of the first movie, took advantage of Shrek’s boredom and frustration to make a deal with him: A day as a “real ogre” in exchange for a day of his childhood.

What was more shocking about this new reality was that other ogres were still around.

Shrek agreed and was taken into an alternate reality where he got his day as a “real ogre”. But he soon realized that the reality was completely different and his friends never met him, he never met Fina, and she ran away from the castle alone. Rumpel later reveals to Shrek that he took the day Shrek was bornWhich set off a chain reaction of events that included Rumple being the King of Far Far Away. What was more shocking about this new reality was that other ogres were still around.

Fiona became the leader of the ogres, forming a resistance against Rumpel with the goal of taking back the kingdom. In the third act of Fear forever afterShrek surrendered and Rumple had no choice but to grant him a wish that he used to free the ogres. Shrek manages to get a “true love” kiss from Fiona At the last moment and thus ending his deal with Rumpel, Send him back to his timeline, moments before he met Rumpel.

Fear forever after Continued the tradition of previous movies and ended with a dance party, and this is the part that bothers me.

This gave Shrek the opportunity to change the course of that day and not harm his marriage and friendships, and he finally did. And their love, appreciated. Fear forever after Continued the tradition of previous movies and ended with a dance party, and this is the part that bothers me. The dance party shows Rumpel in a cage and everyone else celebrating, but the ogres also show up. The ogres should not appear as Shrek returned to his original timeline And everything before he lost his temper in the party should be intact.

It was argued by fans of the fear Movie saga that the dance parties at the end of the movies are non-canon, but there is one detail in the one in Fear forever after Which could prove the opposite. It is in this scene that Rumpel is shown in a cage, and it is taken as canon that this was his fate. The ogres at the dance party, then, can be considered a plot hole, and it’s one that still bothers me.

Previous horror movies implied he was the last living ogre (before meeting Fiona)

The ogres in Shrek’s universe apparently have a tragic history

Shrek's Swamp in Shrek and the signs warning of ogres.

fear He was the only ogre aroundTherefore, he lived completely alone in his swamp and had many problems. Shrek’s line about the world apparently having a problem with him also indicated that he should be rejected by society, which would not be the case if there were more ogres around. Fiona was the only other ogre Shrek met, which is why the presence of ogres in the alternate timeline has so many questions.

Fear forever after Imagine that Shrek is somehow responsible for what happened to the ogres How they are all alive and living in a community in the timeline where Shrek was never born. Again, it makes no sense that the ogres show up at the end of Fear forever after How they should still be gone (no matter what happened to them), how Shrek’s actions in the alternate timeline are not carried over into the main one.

Shrek 5 must solve the mystery of the fate of the ogres

Shrek 5 is currently in development

After much speculation about it and anticipation, Alarm 5 is officially in development, with the main cast reprising their roles. At the time of writing, the plot details of Alarm 5 They are a mystery, but this is the perfect opportunity to solve some of the saga’s biggest mysteries. I hope mostly Alarm 5 Solves all questions about what happened to the other ogresNo matter how tragic or darkly funny the explanation is.

I guess Alarm 5 Would confirm that the dance party in Fear forever after Wasn’t canon, but in this case it would have to answer what happened to Rumple. Alarm 5 Has some key details and mysteries to address, but I really hope it puts an end to all the Ogre confusion.

In the fourth film in the series, Shrek finds himself overwhelmed and wishing for the days when he lived a simple ogre’s life. He is tempted into a contract with Rumpelstiltskin to earn a day of the life he wants, but it turns out to have dire consequences.
