12 original and revival characters that may return in the sequel

Yet Dexter seemingly dies at the end of Dexter: New BloodHe is set to return in some capacity in the sequel series Dexter: Resurrection. The sequel series will pick up where New blood Left off, meaning that some characters from the original and revival series may appear in it. Dexter: Resurrection will be developed by New blood And Original sin Showrunner Clyde Phillips, who announced the sequel series at the “Dexter: Original Sin” panel at SDCC 2024. He also revealed that Michael C. Hall will return as the voiceover narrator as Dexter’s “Dark Passenger” In the highly-anticipated Dexter Prequel series, which will premiere in December 2024.

Dexter: Resurrection is expected to begin filming in January 2025, meaning that it’s more than likely that showrunner Clyde Phillips has already worked out a proper method for convincingly carrying the torch of Dexter, even after the titular protagonist is already confirmed to be dead at the end of Dexter: New Blood. This is entirely possible, but purely speculative Dexter could become a Harry-like figure from Harrison’s imagination in the new seriesWhich would be a full-circle way to expand the Dexter narrative. However, a Popular fan theory on TikTok suggests that Dexter may be incarcerated in the resurrectionAlthough that premise may be unlikely.

There are several keys Dexter Characters and villains that cannot appear in Dexter: ResurrectionAlthough the fact that Deborah and Harry have both returned as ghostly figments of Dexter’s imagination supposedly makes any character’s return from the dead possible. In that regard, it would be interesting to see a fan-favorite character like Rita haunt Dexter in some capacity, especially if her children Astor and Cody return in the sequel series after mostly disappearing. yet, Characters like Doakes, LaGuerta, Brian Moser, Trinity, Frank Lundy and Hannah McKay will almost certainly not appear.Unless, for example, Harrison lied about his “adoptive” mother dying in New blood.

Harrison Morgan

Harrison Morgan, played by Jack Alcott in New bloodIs almost guaranteed to return to Dexter: Resurrection. Besides Dexter himself, Harrison was the most central and crucial character in the 2021 revival series, going so far as to shoot his father dead in the heart. New blood Finale. There is always a chance that Harrison could be on the run after nearly killing Dexter, or if Dexter is actually dead, could become the new main protagonist of the Dexter franchise, with his father as his ghost as he sorts out his Dark Passenger. There are many directions in which Dexter: Resurrection Can walk, some good and others not so much, however Harrison seems like a safe bet to return no matter what.

11

Deborah Morgan’s Ghost

Debra Morgan, played by Jennifer Carpenter, appeared in all 106 episodes of the Dexter original series and New bloodWhich makes her another shoo-in to appear in Dexter: Resurrection. At this point in the franchise, Jennifer Carptener’s Debra is nearly as vital to the series as Dexter himselfConsidering their shared history as co-workers, confidants and best friends. As the franchise progresses, it may become more difficult to have Deborah in every episode unless she is confirmed to be the official replacement for Harry’s Ghost that was seen throughout the original series. Either way, it would be very surprising if Deb wasn’t in the new one Dexter Series.

10

Harry Morgan’s ghost

It might be a bit of a long shot for James Remar to reprise his role as Harry Morgan in Dexter: ResurrectionBut it is certainly not out of the question. Ramor was unfortunately not a part of Dexter: New Blood But is still very active as an actor in both film and television, most recently appearing in 2023 Oppenheimer and 2024s Megalopolis. Considering the new title of the series expansion, it would be as timely as ever for Remar to return as Harry’s Ghost in addition to Debra’s Ghost and potentially even Dexter’s Ghost. Considering how integral he was to the original series, Harry’s Ghost should indeed make an appearance in the resurrectionEven if it’s just for a cameo.

9

Angel Batista

Another beloved regular in the original series, and one of the few characters to appear in all 96 episodes of DexterIs Angel Batista. Batista was also in several episodes of New blood By the end of the series, however, viewers were certainly left wanting more after he was seemingly introduced and promptly forgotten. If the resurrection Really picking up right where New Blood left off, then Batista should absolutely be involved in an even bigger way. A scenario in which Batista leads the hunt for Dexter after discovering he is the Bay Harbor Butcher would make Dexter must-see TV for the first time in years.

8

Vince Masuka

Masuka was one of the funniest characters in the original series But has no real purpose to be featured in New blood Given the change in setting. Masuka will be portrayed in Dexter: Original Sin by a new actor, but it would still be very enjoyable if he somehow came along for the ride in a hypothetical manhunt for Dexter in the resurrection. It would be even more impressive if Masuka somehow joined the search for Dexter and was able to use his investigative skills against Dexter as Batista. Which is arguably missing from Dexter At this point there is a sense of continuity for the original series legacy, which Masuka would certainly add a lot to.

7

Astor Bennett

Christina Robinson as Astor

Astor’s role in Dexter becomes complicated and somewhat purposeful after the shocking death of her mother Rita at the hands of the Trinity Killer in season 4. Dexter doesn’t really make an effort to hang around as a father figure after Rita’s death despite his great interest in Rita’s Kids in the early seasons of the series. Astor, played by Christina Robinson, Made her last appearance in Dexter Season 7, episode 8 titled “Argentina“, which is considered one of the best episodes of the series. In addition, she is completely out of the picture in Dexter Last three seasons but could make a Harrison-esque re-entry into the resurrection.

6

Cody Bennett

Dexter (Michael C. Hall) hugging Astor (Christina Robinson), Cody (Preston Bailey) and Rita (Julie Benz) in Dexter

Cody and Astor are basically a package deal in these Dexter universe because there aren’t too many characteristics that make them different. Cody, played by Preston Bailey in seasons 2 through 5, appears in just as many episodes of the original series as his big sister, which means that if Astor makes a comeback in the resurrectionThere is a very high probability that Cody will too. There is still so much unknown going in the resurrection And Phillips may want to turn the page for good on the entire Rita Bennett family tree. Still, the return of Astor and Cody would be a monumental and fascinating plot point in the new series.

5

Joey Quinn

Joey Quinn is almost in the same boat as Masuka since their emergence in the resurrection Still not appearing in New Blood would be exciting, but also strange and forced. Especially since Debra’s character is now only accessible through Dexter’s conscious, there are not too many clear paths to get Quinn back in the series, unless, again, he decides to join Batista in unraveling and exposing the truth about Dexter. Quinn could potentially follow the fact that Dexter killed Debra By taking her off life support in the original series finale. While his return may be a stretch, it would be intriguing to see Quinn back in the fold Dexter Universe.

4

Jamie Bautista

Cassie and Jamie smiling on the couch in Dexter Season 8

Jamie Bautista never really had high stakes or a greater purpose in the original series, but she is one of the few characters that could come together with Brother Angel in the new sequel series. Her emergence would seemingly not really add much to the plot though Could still add a layer of authenticity and nostalgia That New blood is arguably missing. Jamie was a series regular for the last three seasons of the original series and made it all the way to the season 3 finale, an accomplishment not many OG characters can claim.

3

Tom Matthews

Thomas Matthews is sitting on the couch in Dexter

Tom Matthews is another recurring character who never gets too involved in the main storylines Dexter Original series. despite this, Matthews, who is played by Geoff Pierson, has made appearances in all but one of Dexter Original seasons (He was not in season 3) and was featured in all twelve episodes of Dexter’s final season. What’s more, Pearson is still very active in film and television, having appeared in The terminal list, Grace and Frankie, City on fireAnd more all in the last two years.

2

Angela Bishop

Angela Bishop was one of the main new characters introduced in Dexter: New Blood And has a great opportunity to appear in the resurrection. Besides being Dexter’s love interest, she was also present when Harrison shot and presumably killed Dexter, meaning that if Harrison ends up in the resurrection As he very likely will be, Angela Bishop will also return. Whether Batista ends up returning or not, Angela will likely be a crucial part and witness in the potential hunt to find DexterMaking the chances of you returning very high.

1

Audrey Bishop

Audrey stands next to Angela in Dexter New Blood.

like Angela Bishop’s daughter and Harrison’s love interest who was also a series regular in New bloodAudrey Bishop also has a very high chance of returning in the resurrection. When it comes down to it, outside of any fan theories or dream scenarios, the resurrection Really has two options moving forward. Or it will pick up exactly where New blood Left off and be a sort of New blood Season 2, which would be odd considering the title change, or Dexter: Resurrection Will return to the roots of the series and have the returns of some nostalgia-based characters mentioned above.
