Danny and Baez open up the story of Gang Mayhem as they investigate the murder of a judge
The crime appears to be an isolated incident at first in the final episode of Blue Bloods
Danny and Baez (Marisa Ramirez) open the latest episode by arriving at the scene of the latest homicide they were assigned to. The case involves a judge who was shot to death while sitting in her backyard reading the newspaper early in the morning, while her husband was inside and heard nothing. This suggests a hit orchestrated by someone the judge put in prison, but it's not immediately clear whether it's the work of Ace Double Tres.
The pair talk to the judge's husband and discover that she had been receiving death threats that she ignored, despite his pleas to take them seriously. Later, Danny and Baez discover that the judge's killer forced her to record a video shortly before executing her. where she says the lives of police officers, judges and jurors are in danger until arrested gang members are released. This video not only connects the judge's murder to other violent crimes in New York, but provides an inadvertent clue when the cops realize they can see the killer's face reflected in the judge's sunglasses.
Badillo is killed during an ambush on a call with Eddie
Badillo leaves behind his mother and adopted son on Blue Bloods
Eddie (Vanessa Ray) and Badillo's (Ian Quinlan) normal day is turned upside down when a call comes in about a possible carjacking. The duo runs to the scene, but as they get out of the vehicle, a motorcycle stops to shoot at them. Eddie shoots back and hits one of the attackers, despite being shot in the arm. After subduing them, Eddie finds Badillo lying on the ground, bleeding. This leads to some substantial scenes for one of the Blue Blood' best characters like Eddie begs Badillo to stay alive and later finds out he has died.
Badillo's death is devastating for Eddie and heartbreaking for his mother and the adopted son he left behind. However, at his funeral, Badillo's mother is presented with an NYPD flag to honor Badillo's service, and an officer places Badillo's police cap on the boy's head, whom Badillo helped care for after the child's biological father died in the line of duty.
Cops link the attempted assassination of the mayor and the kidnapping of Amelia Ramirez to the murder of the judge
The Ace Double Tres threatens to continue harming public officials
More violent crimes occur throughout the city at the hands of the motorcycle gang, culminating in the mayor being shot at a press event where he designates a building used on the Underground Railroad as a historic monument. The mayor's security team appears absent until after the shooting, but nothing happens. Instead of, Frank (Tom Selleck) visits Mayor Chase (Dylan Walsh) in the hospital, who tells him that he is giving Frank the keys to the city.saying: “You take us out of this.“
While Frank speaks with Mayor Chase, the DA's office receives a threat informing them that all the gangs are now united and will not stop their reign of terror until “hostages are released,“referring to the desire for the prison members to be released. Further investigation determines that Carlos Ramirez is behind the new gang alliance, causing Danny to realize that Ramirez's daughter, Amelia, is in danger of being kidnapped or killed, linking the case to Ramirez's disappearance at the end of Blue Blood season 14, episode 11. Unfortunately, Amelia disappears before Danny and Baez can protect her.
Joe convinces Jamie to help him find the Badillo shooter
Jamie wants to stay in the hospital, but Joe says it won't do any good

He and Joe (Will Hochman) talk in the hospital waiting room, demonstrating a marked difference in their relationship from the past, while Jamie accepts Joe's support. However, Joe disagrees with Jamie's decision to stay put while Badillo's killer is still at largesaying” “Are you her doctor… or are you the cop who arrests one of these guys?” So Jamie reluctantly agrees that his best move is to help find and arrest the shooter.
This decision leads to a new partnership between Jamie and Joe, which later ties directly into the outcome of Joe's story. Although the two have butted heads while working together in the past, this time they work together seamlessly to find and take down the shooter. Jamie makes only a half-hearted effort to insist that they follow the rules, giving up without a word when Joe points out that they've already ignored protocol to gain access to the criminal's pregnant girlfriend. Their last-minute teamwork leads to the shooter's arrest later.
Eddie demands Danny let her help find Amelia Ramirez
When Amelia calls her, Eddie refuses to be sidelined
Eddie also has a special relationship with Amelia Ramirez, whom she and Jamie raised for a few days in Blue Blood season 14, episode 11. Additionally, she is frustrated about being stuck in the hospital while Badillo's killer is on the run and she can't help avenge his death. So when Amelia secretly calls her and whispers that she's scared before being forced to hang up to avoid being caught, Eddie is determined to help.
Eddie meets with Danny in the hospital waiting room and demands to work with him on the investigation, telling him not to take care of her or to sideline her. Surprisingly, Danny makes no effort to convince her to rest and recover, probably because he understands the need to work after a devastating loss. Instead, he tells her that she is the “toughest police officer [he knows]“ and agrees to work with her to find Badillo's shooter.
Erin and Jack decide to secretly get married
The proposal comes after Jack does Erin a big favor
Erin (Bridget Moynahan) and Jack (Peter Hermann) work together to help Frank locate a confidential informant whose son is a person of interest in the mayor's shooting. For a brief second, it seems like their relationship is going to fall apart as quickly as it started, just like Jack is reluctant to do this favor without guarantees that Frank will let go of his grudge against him for breaking Erin's heart. when they got divorced and is only willing to get the information Frank needs if Erin considers it a favor to her and not Frank.
After Jack finally recovers, Erin tells him that Frank was heartbroken that they broke up and that besides, they work well together. That's why, Blue Blood takes a break from the intense drama for Erin and Jack to have a serious talk about their relationship that they haven't had before. Although this conversation doesn't completely make up for Blue Blood tricking the audience into not experiencing their reconciliation, this allows them to take the next step on screen, and the two decide to secretly get married at City Hall and not tell their family until it's over.
Frank uses Joe's death to discover the mayor's shooter
In a chilling confrontation with a prisoner, Frank Reagan appeals to a father's love
Two legendary actors give one of their best performances when Frank Reagan confronts Lorenzo Batista (Edward James Olmos), the long-imprisoned father of the man who shot the mayor. Batista refuses to tell Frank where his son is. From his point of view, Frank is the villain who is trying to do it”snitch [his] son with a blurry video and a Judas,” while he is the hero protecting his son. Frank has little influence on the situation because Batista is already serving a life sentence.therefore, threats of additional prison time are meaningless.
However, Frank eventually gains the upper hand in an unusual way. He tells him that his son was killed by the police and that if he could choose between his son being alive and incarcerated and his murder, he would choose to visit his son in prison as much as possible, adding that he knows very well how the alternative feels. This speech helps convince Batista to speak, thus honoring Joe's memory by using it to bring justice and restore order to the city.
Henry advises Danny on his professional and personal life
The older Reagan has a small but important role in the Blue Bloods finale
Although Henry (Len Cariou) doesn't have a major role to play, his conversation with Danny is a pivotal moment. Danny comes to talk to him about his fear that he has brought violence to the city, but Henry astutely points out that Danny cannot follow his advice not to take work home, saying, “you don't have anyone you can't take your work home to.” Although Danny initially resists talking about it, he eventually promises that he will make it right after the case is over, thus resolving Danny's main storyline of not wanting to move on after Linda's death in Blue Blood season 8.
Danny finally finds Carlos and Amelia, leading to an intense confrontation
Danny must convince Carlos not to get hurt
Danny and Baez find Carlos and Amelia, breaking into the house where Amelia is being held. Carlos assures Amelia that she is safe and allows Baez to accompany her upstairs so he can face Danny alone. Carlos then makes an unmotivated threat to harm himself by pointing the gun at his chin, but Danny points out that he would only further traumatize Amelia if she lost him so soon after her mother's murder. Ultimately, Carlos surrenders and Amélia is reunited with her worried grandmother.
Eddie pays tribute to Badillo during his shooter's arrest
Eddie uses Badillo's handcuffs to restrain the shooter
Jamie and Joe use the shooter's girlfriend as bait, making sure he knows she has gone into labor. They manage to arrest him when he arrives at the hospital to see his baby in the nursery. After subduing him, Jamie tells Joe that “the handcuffs are coming,” and calls Eddie, who arrives to handcuff the suspect with Badillo's handcuffs. So, Eddie is able to honor his late partner and use the handcuffs to get justice for his death.
Danny takes Henry's advice and asks Baez out
This Blue Bloods relationship begins, but doesn't move very quickly
With the case solved, the characters' story remains to be concluded. Blue Blood' Danny and Baez get the perfect ending, with Danny ordering Baez pizza and her accepting the invitation. This short scene avoids the problem of their relationship moving too quickly, while also honoring their long friendship and suggesting that it could develop into something more after the end credits roll.
At the Reagan family's final dinner, Eddie announces her pregnancy
The Reagan family celebrates together for the last time
The Reagans reunite for the final Blue Blood family dinner, where Erin plans to tell her family that she and Jack have remarried. However, Eddie arrives with a wooden high chair that was hers when she was a baby, explaining that she and Jamie plan to use it with their own child. As the series comes to an end, everyone celebrates the fact that Eddie is three months pregnant.
Joe Hill's reaction is particularly touching, as his opinion that the baby is lucky to be a Reagan demonstrates his changing feelings toward his family. Erin chooses not to share her news right now so the family can celebrate the pregnancy together, and Blue Blood ends with Frank expressing his gratitude and pride for all of his family members before Jamie says Grace.
