10 things not many Jujutsu Kaisen fans knew about Gojo

Jujutsu Kaisen has become one of the most popular shonen anime in recent years with its manga by author and illustrator Gege Akutami. One of the main reasons why the anime was so successful was because of its iconic characters, including Satoru Gojo, who is one of the main characters. Gojo stands out as a fan favorite not only because he is considered the strongest character in the series, but also because of his friendly, charismatic and good-natured personality.

Even though Gojo is one of the most popular characters in his series, he is also known by every anime fan, but there are still some things that fans may not know about him. The lesser-known facts about Gojo’s background and personality are important to better understand who he is as a character.

He has no hobbies

Gojo was the first sorcerer in centuries to be born with the Six Eyes and Limitless techniques, two abilities that help solidify his reputation as the strongest sorcerer. Being born with so much talent and skill makes it seem natural that he would excel at everything he does, except he doesn’t mind having any hobbies.

Akutami stated that Gojo has no hobbies because he is naturally good at everything he tries. and that he is too busy focusing on reshaping Jujutsu society and doesn’t care about investing much in anything else. To Gojo, it seems like there would be no point in enjoying something if there was no room for him to improve, so he focuses on the bigger goal he can try to achieve.

Why does he cover his eyes

Gojo is known for his iconic blindfold, but many fans may not know why he uses it. The simple reason he covers his eyes is because of his Six Eyes ability. His Six Eyes ability allows him extraordinary perception and the ability to see the flow of cursed energy, but it still drains his energy.

If he doesn’t wear a blindfold, he will get tired quickly. When he is not fighting, he is blindfolded, but when he is preparing to fight, he takes off the blindfold to effectively utilize his Six Eyes abilities.

He’s a Sagittarius

At the beginning of the series, Gojo is between 28 and 29 years old. His birthday is December 7th, which makes him a Sagittarius. Very similar to others Jujutsu Kaisen characters and their Zodiac signs, Gojo embodies many characteristics of his sign. Sagittarians are said to be arrogant, direct, passionate and optimistic.

Gojo is overly confident in his abilities and reputation as the strongest sorcereras seen when he said he would win a fight with Sukuna. Additionally, he is brutally honest and unsympathetic towards people he considers his enemies. Although he sometimes shows traits of pride and callousness, he is also very optimistic and playful, especially with his students, as he believes in them when others do not.

It has two theme songs

Akutami chose theme songs for some of his characters that he feels best represent them. While it’s not exactly common practice for mangaka, it can lead to just a few insights into how manga creators view their characters, and Akutami’s choices for Satoru Gojo didn’t disappoint in that regard. For Gojo, Akutami chose “Into An Unseen Tomorrow” by Asian Kung-Fu Generation and “Shame on Me” by Avicii.

Both songs align well with Gojo’s characteras his upbeat and lively tempos reflect his vibrant personality. Gojo is known for his bombastic language and enthusiasm, making these songs and fast rhythms fit Gojo very well.

Its design was inspired by a naruto character, but not the one you most expect

Satoru Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen alongside Tonbo Tobitake from Naruto.

When Jujutsu Kaisen began airing, fans noticed that Gojo’s design resembled Kakashi Hatake from naruto. The two have many similarities, such as their spiky white hair, blindfolds and even the role they play as sensei of the series’ main trio. However, Akutami revealed that instead of being inspired by Kakashi, Gojo’s design was actually inspired by another naruto character.

Akutami stated that Gojo was actually inspired by Tonbo Tobitakea much less known naruto character who appeared as one of the Chunin Exam inspectors. Tonbo is seen wearing bandages on his head and upper face, while also covering his eyes with a forehead protector. Likewise, Gojo uses a mix of both. In Jujutsu Kaisen 0he wears bandages over his eyes, but when the series begins, he starts wearing a black blindfold.

He is unaware of how Utahime feels about him

Despite Gojo’s intelligence in reading certain situations like a sorcerer, he is not the best at reading how others feel about him, and this especially applies when he is with Utahime. Utahime is said to canonically hate Gojo, and this seems pretty obvious from the few scenes the two share together. When talking to or being around Gojo, Utahime always seems angry and annoyed.

Utahime’s annoyance with Gojo may be due to him making fun of her for being weak.. She constantly reminds Gojo how much she dislikes him, but he doesn’t take it seriously, probably due to the fact that he sees it as a fun friendship, completely unaware of the fact that Utahime really can’t stand him. Although some fans have advocated a romance between Utahime and Gojo, their relationship in the series is quite funny and shows how one of Gojo’s biggest flaws is that he often doesn’t realize how others are feeling.

He is a fan of Digimon

Fans learn from Gojo’s story that he is a fan of Digimon. In Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 66, Gojo and Geto are talking to Masamichi Yaga about the mission to escort the Star Plasma Ship to Master Tengen. Gojo compares the quest to specific Digimon characters, highlighting that he is a well-versed expert. Digimon fan.

By referencing specific characters like Metal Greymon, Skull Greymon, and Koromon, he proves he’s more than just a casual Digimon fan. Not only does this add a fun pop culture element to his character, but it also makes him feel more relatable to viewers who are also Digimon fans.

What is your source of stress

Although Gojo often appears laid-back and carefree, his life is full of stress. One of the hardest things he faced was the betrayal of his best friend, who turned against him and tried to create a world just for wizards. Additionally, he is constantly fighting curses, which would be stressful for anyone, even the strongest sorcerer himself.

However, what stresses Gojo the most is dealing with the superiors of the Jujutsu society. They often interfere with his decisions and make it more difficult for him to do what he considers right. Their strict rules and constant involvement frustrate Gojo more than anything else, adding to the pressure he already feels.

2

He gave himself a treat

The series nods to Gojo being a sweet tooth every now and then. Still in the second episode, Megumi judges him for finding time to buy sweet souvenirs while people die. His love of sweets is a quirky trait that adds some humor to his serious role as the strongest sorcerer.

Gojo didn’t always like sweets; he developed a taste for sweets over time. He started eating sweets to stimulate his brain, but ended up genuinely loving them. Although Gojo has dealt with many difficult issues in his life, there is certainly an air of childishness about the hero. His love of sweets really exemplifies this aspect of him by showing that despite his sometimes horrific power, There’s a kind of sweetness at your core.

1

He doesn’t like to drink

JJK's Gojo being captured by Kenjaku and forced into a prison during the Shibuya Incident arc.

Unlike his old friend and schoolmate, Shoko Ieiri, who drinks the most in the series, Gojo is the complete opposite. His least favorite food is listed as alcohol. The reason is unclear, but it’s safe to say that he leans more towards tastes opposite to those he dislikes, like sweets.

Gojo’s preference for sweets over alcohol adds an interesting layer to his personality. Despite his overwhelming power and serious responsibilities, his preference for sugary treats further highlights his playful and human side. There is also the element of his power. Someone as strong as Gojo always needs to keep himself under control so he doesn’t accidentally hurt anyone. Getting drunk can therefore risk Gojo losing control, which is why it makes sense for him to abstain from alcohol.
