Supernatural is famous for killing several characters. In fact, there are only a few Supernatural episodes without any deaths. Death has permeated the fantasy show since the beginning – with the death of Sam and Dean's mother, Mary Winchester, in the pilot – but also at the beginning of almost every episode, when a civilian is killed by a mysterious creature, establishing the premise of the episode.

However, their plan goes awry when a Hellhound attacks Jo, leaving her injuries too severe to treat. In a truly heartbreaking twist, Ellen stays with her daughter until Jo passes away, and then detonates a bomb to kill the Hellhounds chasing her.giving the rest of them some time to escape.
Jo and Ellen's deaths are easily among the most traumatic and shocking moments in Supernaturalas viewers see how much Ellen cares about her daughter. Jo was a somewhat sweet but capable young woman who wanted to take up hunting to be closer to her father, and she had a teasing relationship with Dean. So seeing Jo sacrifice herself for the Winchesters was bittersweet, and Ellen's dedication to staying with her daughter until the end, no matter what, made “Abandon All Hope” a memorable episode. Season 7, Episode 10, 'Death's Door'
Bobby Singer
The mid-season 7 finale contained another of the saddest character deaths in Supernaturalas a dying Bobby tries to escape a Reaper in his mind and ends up reliving some of his memories. Having been shot by the Leviathan, Dick Roman, the Winchesters take Bobby to the hospital, where they are informed that Bobby's brain has been partially destroyed by the bullet. The emotional episode takes Bobby through his best and worst memories, from facing his abusive father to Sam and Dean laughing on his couch, and “Death’s Door” gives Supernatural fans an in-depth look at Bobby's personality. Charlie Bradbury
Charlie Bradbury is without a doubt one of the most wasted characters in Supernaturalas Charlie's death was unnecessarily horrific and featured the most horrific elements of Supernatural. Fan favorite Charlie (played by Felicia Day) was first introduced in Season 7's “The Girl With The Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo” as a brilliant hacker and optimistic nerd who Dean comes to regard as a sister-like figure. . She makes several appearances throughout the show and her bubbly and relentless personality brought a light-hearted, comedic component to Supernatural.
Tragically, when Charlie hides out in a hotel looking for some peace, the Stynes come to get his notes.
While investigating a murder, Sam and Dean discover that the killer is a member of the Styne family, an ancient worldwide family of surgically enhanced individuals who are the root of Frankenstein tradition. The Stynes are searching for the supposedly burned Book of the Damned, which Sam secretly gave to Charlie, Castiel, and Rowena to decode and figure out how to remove the Mark of Cain from Dean. Tragically, when Charlie hides out in a hotel looking for some peace, the Stynes come to get his notes and “Dark Dynasty” ends with the Winchesters stumbling upon the traumatic image of Charlie’s corpse in the motel bathtub.

Season 12, Episode 23, “All Along the Watchtower”
Crowley
Over the seasons since his first appearance on the show Crowley went through an extreme character arcgoing from main antagonist to an unlikely ally of the Winchesters. Of the few non-human characters to befriend Sam and Dean in SupernaturalCrowley was certainly the most fun. His temper and exasperation often led to funny moments with the character, and he became a well-liked Supernatural character, making his death in Season 12's “All Along the Watchtower” more disheartening.
In Supernatural In the season 12 finale, the Winchesters discover an alternate universe ravaged by the Apocalypse. Realizing that they could use the world to trap Lucifer and protect Kelly Kline and her unborn Nephilim son, Crowley helps the Winchesters create a spell. Unfortunately, the spell requires a sacrifice, which the Demon offers when Crowley kills himself with an Angel Blade to close the rift in Lucifer. Crowley's Mark Sheppard commented on his departure from Supernaturalclaiming that his character had no purpose in later seasons and seemed weaker, although he did not want to leave the series.

Season 14, Episode 17, “Game Night”
Mary Winchester
One of the biggest changes from season 1 to season 14 of Supernatural it was the return of Mary Winchester in her hunting glory. However, despite being part of the main cast for a few seasons, since Amara resurrected her mother figure, Mary comes to an end in season 14 when Jack Kline accidentally kills her off-screen. The moment in which Mary is killed occurs during a blackout and viewers are subject only to Jack's voice calling for Mary, but the final scene highlights Jack's devastation, as his despair is frightening.
During Season 14 Episode 17, “Game Night,” Jack becomes increasingly frustrated with everyone's persistence in making sure he's okay. However, concerns about the Nephilim are justified as, when hunting Nick (Lucifer's vessel), Jack cruelly burns the man alive, showing a character completely opposite to Jack's generally cheerful disposition and highlighting Jack's soullessness. Mary's determination to help a grief-stricken Jack causes the Nephilim to essentially wipe her off the face of the Earth.marking yet another brutal and abrupt death of an important character in Supernatural.

Season 15, Episode 3, “The Rupture”
Rowena McLeod
Supernatural The final season started off strong as God began destroying his creations in revenge against the Winchesters. In continuation of the previous episode, “The Rupture” shows Sam, Dean, Castiel, Rowena and Belphegor trying to stop Hell from breaking loose and refortify the magical barrier that contains the ghosts. Rowena tries to strengthen the barrier, but the ghosts are too strong, prompting Belphegor to explain how Lilith's Bandit could help them lure the souls back to Hell.
While Castiel and Belphegor find Lilith's bandit in Hell, Sam helps Rowena create a spell to close the tear that God opened. However, when Dean uses the hexagonal bag, it doesn't work. With Belphegor betraying Castiel, he has no choice but to destroy Lilith's Demon and Bandit by returning to the surface. In an act of bravery, Rowena tries one last spell, demonstrating why she is one of the Supernatural most powerful characters: Rowena has Sam kill her (as prophesied), drawing the ghosts into her body, and then jumps into the rupture, sealing it.

Season 15, Episode 18, “Despair”
Castiel
Directed by Richard Speight Jr., season 15, episode 18, “Despair” sees one of the saddest moments in Supernatural this made all the fans cry. With Jack under Billie's control, she retrieves the Book of God from the Winchesters, seeing that its ending has changed. Thinking that Billie is sending characters from alternate universes back, the Winchesters gather their friends in a sheltered location while Dean and Castiel return to the Bunker to kill Billie with their scythe.. However, upon her arrival, it is revealed that Billie is not the cause, but she wants to kill Dean anyway for hurting her with the scythe earlier.
Trapped in the Bunker, with Billie knocking on the guarded door, Dean laments the desperate situation when Castiel suddenly remembers his deal to save Jack; the Void (a being powerful enough to defeat Billie) will come after Castiel when he is truly happy, something he was sure wouldn't happen. Yet Castiel is finally able to achieve true happiness by telling Dean that he loves him and that Dean is the reason he cares about the entire world.. The heartbreaking admission causes the Void to appear, taking Castiel and Billie away, while Dean mourns Castiel's death.
