Smallville could be back in the next few years, and a sequel to the beloved DC series would have to bring back at least a few key characters and actors from the original series. Smallville is easily one of DC's best live-action TV shows. Over the course of ten seasons, the Superman prequel series followed Tom Welling's Clark Kent on his journey to become the Man of Steel. Clark would only transform into Superman in Smallvilleend of the series.
This made sense for the show, but it wasn't enough for the fans. Now, Clark Kent actor Tom Welling and Lex Luthor star Michael Rosenbaum are working on a lively Smallville sequential serieswhich would ultimately follow Welling's Clark Kent as Superman. In October, Tom Welling said Screen speech that they still need approval”from DC and Warner Brothers.” Welling and Rosenbaum want to bring back as many of the series' actors as possible, and some characters would be perfect for the possible Smallville sequential series.

Impulse
Played by Kyle Gallner
Smallville Several heroes have appeared in the series over its long run. One of those that left the biggest mark was Impulse, by Kyle Gallner. Bart Allen was the show's main sprinterhaving some funny interactions with Tom Welling's Clark Kent due to the use of his powers. Near the end of the series, Impulse would become a member of the Smallvilleof the Justice League, consolidating himself as a great hero.
Impulse's powers are perfect for an animated series, and after Grant Gustin has shown what The Flash can do in live-action for a decadeIt's time for the speedster to return to TV in a big way. ONE Smallville the sequel series would likely feature Welling's Superman as part of the Justice League, so Impulse has to be there. Your powers can lead to many fun scenarios.
9
Lana Lang
Played by Kristin Kreuk
Lana Lang, by Kristin Kreuk, is one of the Smallvillemost important characters. The romance between her and Welling's Clark Kent was one of the main driving forces of the DC series' early seasons. Although the characters had great chemistry, Lana didn't have much to do aloneand the protracted nature of their relationship ended up hurting the show towards the end of Lana's nearly 8-season run.
Lana's final Smallville The story saw her power suit, which she couldn't take off, absorb kryptonite, making her a danger to Clark. As such, Lana leaves, with Clark later falling in love with Lois Lane and marrying her. It would be interesting to see if the Smallville sequel to the series could find a way for Lana to remove her power suitshowing what it would be like to have her back in Clark's life. It doesn't have to be romantic, but a deep friendship would be exciting.
8
Aquaman
Played by Alan Ritchson
Alan Ritchson is a dedicated DC actor. After playing a young version of Arthur Curry, aka Aquaman, in Smallvillethe star would bring Hawk to life in Titans. Recently, Ritchson became one of fans' favorite choices to play the DCU's new Batman after stating that he would love to take on the role. In Smallvillehis version of Aquaman was powerful, sarcastic and even a threat to Clark Kent when he wanted to be.
As one of DC's greatest heroes and a member of SmallvilleFrom Justice League, Aquaman's absence would be felt if he didn't return for the possible Smallville sequential series. The Superman show could use Aquaman for world-building, with the character now complete and ruling Atlantis, having married Merawhich also appeared in Smallville. Ritchson's comedic and dramatic skills, in addition to his distinctive voice, would be perfect for the show.
7
Lionel Lutor
Played by John Glover
When talking about the possible Smallville animated series, Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum revealed that they created a poster for the project, and John Glover's Lionel Luthor stands out about the other characters in it. This ensures that Lionel will have a role in the series if that happens, as he should, given that the character was one of the Smallvilleone of the best villains, with a complex arc.
Lionel Luthor had one of the Smallvillethe saddest deaths knocked off a building by Lexyour own son. Glover's Lionel Luthor is dead in the Smallville continuity, and since Welling and Rosenbaum have said their goal is to pick up where the show left off, there are a few ways Lionel could return. Time travel, the multiverse, a clone and more are possible in a full Superman series.
6
Darkseid
Played by several actors
Smallville did a great job with Darkseid, given the show's budget. The character was the last major villain in the series and, therefore, Darkseid's return would make sense for the possible sequel. After all, as soon as he transformed into Superman for the first time, Tom Welling Clark Kent was able to thwart Darkseid's plans and fend off Apokolips of Earth alone. Clark had already destroyed Darkseid's host body by hitting him twice.
Darkseid is DC's greatest villain. THE Smallville the sequel series will likely feature a full Justice League with heroes like Batman and Wonder Woman, similar to what the Smallville season 11 comics did. Darkseid is the perfect threat for a big Justice League eventtying into the final season of the DC series and giving Welling's Superman and the Justice League a major test against the forces of Apokolips.
5
Supergirl
Played by Laura Vandervoort
Laura Vandervoort's Supergirl didn't play the lead role she should have Smallville. Although Kara Zor-El/Kent was a major part of Season 7, the character would barely appear after that. THE Smallville the sequel series could do better for the character, with Kara being an important ally to Welling's Superman. After all, she is your only living Kryptonian familyso an exploration of the cousins' bond would be exciting for the sequel.
Supergirl never got to wear her iconic costume Smallville. The character wore regular clothes that teased her Supergirl costume, although Kara never went there. Well, the Smallville The sequel series could have Supergirl don her classic costume and join Clark in the Justice League. Supergirl being one of Earth's greatest heroes fits into the Smallville universe, and the sequel series could do for it what the original show never did.
4
Green Arrow
Played by Justin Hartley
Besides Tom Welling's Clark Kent, no other hero was as important in Smallville compared to Justin Hartley's Green Arrow. Oliver Queen's arrival transformed the showthe character being one of the few in Smallville Really come out like a hero in a clear superhero costume. It was through his interactions with Green Arrow that Clark would come even closer to becoming Superman, seeing what a functional superhero he was like.
Oliver grew up to become Clark's best friend. Green Arrow is the first leader of SmallvilleJustice Leaguea role he plays well, with Oliver being great at motivating others, coordinating heroes, and getting the job done. Since Chloe Sullivan is unlikely to appear in the Smallville sequel to the series due to Allison Mack's personal life, Green Arrow could be in a new chapter of his life in the possible series.
3
Lois Lane
Played by Érica Durance
There is simply no way Smallville sequel to work without Erica Durance's Lois Lane. Clark Kent is finished Smallville almost marrying Lois with a funny moment about how he always had to rush off to save the world before they could actually get married. When Tom Welling finally returned as a live-action version of Clark for the Arrowverse's Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover, Durance's Lois was by his side.
The duo's Arrowverse crossover showed that they had two daughters and Clark gave up his powers. However, Crisis on Infinite Earths and the Smallville sequential series do not have to share the same timeline. THE Smallville sequel to the series could give Durance's Lois Lane a more active role in Clark's superhero life as Superman and Lois did for its main characters, with Lois discovering ways to find and defeat villains through her journalistic skills.
2
Lex Lutor
Played by Michael Rosenbaum
Michael Rosenbaum's version of Lex Luthor still stands as the best live-action version of Superman villain. Smallville gave the character enough time to go from Clark Kent's best friend to his worst enemy. Everything was done organically, consolidating their bond as the strongest in the DC series. After Rosenbaum decided to leave the show Smallville it was never the same.
By the end of the series, the setup is set for Superman and Luthor to fight each other for decades, and possibly becoming the President of the United States as the Arrowverse has teased, Lex could be very powerful.
As such, the rivalry between Superman and Lex Luthor needs to be at the center of the story. Smallville sequential series. Since Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum are trying to carry out the projectLex Luthor should be firmly back in a major way if Smallville is to go back. By the end of the series, the setup is set for Superman and Luthor to fight each other for decades, and possibly becoming the President of the United States as the Arrowverse has teased, Lex could be very powerful.
1
Superman
Played by Tom Welling
Finally, a Smallville the sequel series would obviously feature Tom Welling's Clark Kent at its center. The original show focused on Clark's journey to becoming Superman. If the sequel series ever becomes real, it should be the opposite, following Clark's adventures as the Man of Steel. Welling played Superman for only a brief period in the Smallville series finalewith the actor never physically donning the Superman costume.
THE Smallville the sequel series would allow fans to see what Welling is like as a full-fledged Superman, even if it is in animated form. This is not a bad thing, as the medium allows the Smallville sequel series to go all out when it comes to superhero fight scenes and Superman's powers. With Welling defending the project, the possible Smallville the sequel series would certainly treat Clark Kent well.
