10 Most Disgusting Soulborne Weapons, Ranked

Of Dark Souls to Transmitted by blood to Elden RingFromSoftware has filled its games with fun and powerful weapons for players to use. Combat is key in these games, and providing a huge arsenal for players to attack bosses with is key to making the games fun on repeat playthroughs. Practically each of these games is based on the number of weapons the characters can fight with; Elden Ringthe most recent game in the franchise, has four times as many weapons as the original Dark Souls.

There are royal swords, elegant bows, fancy staffs, and the list goes on. But among the most iconic weapons in these franchises are some truly disgusting options that become downright unpleasant if players stop to think about them for too long. Creating blades from enemy body parts It’s a pretty common experience; though the world may judge Godrick the Grafted, the Spotted, the Chosen Undead, the Gray, the Hunter, and the Curse Bearer as not much better.

Ghru’s rotten dagger and curved swords embody the word “Eww”

Descriptions of these weapons describe their horror

Rotten Ghru weapons are wielded by the Ghru in Dark Souls 3a horrible goat-people who live in swamps and are famous for their aggressive movements. The curved daggers and swords they wield are similar in both description and aesthetics.resembling rusty metal weapons covered in slime and barnacles.

The description of these items calls them “rancid“and specifies that they are”soaked in rotting rubbish.“Not only will these weapons kill you, but they will also smell bad and cover you with swamp water in the process. There is no denying that these weapons are disgusting, but according to lore, they are just blades that some goats have dipped into a swamp.”

Tooth whiplash is as bad as it sounds

Two words that should never have been combined

Elden Ringof Shadow of the Erd Tree DLC introduced the tooth whip

entered the game in a place called the whipping shack. It is close to Bonny Village, where shamans were tortured and killed, often having parts of their bodies used in rituals for the horns.

It is likely that the teeth that adorn this whip were taken from shamans and used against them. The item description here calls the teeth “rotten” and “misshapen“, which means that the previous owner of this whip didn’t even bother to give it proper dental care. It also inflicts wounds that”become inflamed and ooze pus“, which explains why This weapon causes deadly poison buildup.

8

Kos Parasite sees players weaponize a supernatural squid

By far Bloodborne’s grossest offering

For a game that leans so heavily into horror and gothic tones, there aren’t many weapons that would be classified as “disgusting.” The Kos parasite is the exception, found after defeating Kos’s orphan in the Ancient Hunters DLC. It looks like a translucent squid, with tentacles that wrap around the player character’s arm and fire during attacks.

The sound effects that accompany this weapon make it sound wet and damp, two descriptors most people would not want for their weapon. However, it pairs very well with the game’s Lovecraftian elements, allowing the player themselves to become a kind of supernatural horror. There is a version of this weapon called Kos’s “strange” parasite, which can be found later; It can be argued, however, that all versions of the Kos parasite are strange and that this name is a bit redundant.

7

Gargoyle weaponry is more disturbing than it seems

That ain’t wax on that ax

THE gargoyle’s twin blades

and axes in Elden Ring they have a strange appearance, with spots along the edges of the blades covered in a waxy substance. The double blade is somewhat reminiscent of a cotton swab that was used to clean someone’s ears. However, the description of these items says that they were repaired with “corpse wax.”

Unfortunately, corpse wax is exactly what it sounds like. Not only does this seem like an inefficient way to repair a blade, but it also seems like a horrible fate for anyone defeating these flying threats. The description calls this repair work “patchwork of champions“, while most people would just call it disgusting, and most champions would probably prefer not to have a living statue steal all their wax.

6

Weapons made from animal parts are as cool as they are disgusting

Players should probably wash their hands after fighting them

Since the chosen undead cut off the tail of a bell gargoyle to use as a battle axTurning the severed parts of monsters into weapons has been a staple of Soulsborne. It has the fang of a spider and the sting of a scorpion Dark Souls 2the falling star beast jaw

in Elden Ringand the many, many dragon tail weapons in the original Dark Souls. And while many of these weapons are objectively cool, they’re still quite disturbing when you stop to think about it.

In the original Dark SoulsPlayers can obtain many of these weapons mid-fight by repeatedly targeting certain parts of a boss with slashing damage. It would be cool to see this cool but ruthless tactic return in some form in later FromSoftware games.

With something like the double gargoyle blade or tooth whip, the player character finds and uses these pre-made atrocities. But in the case of these weaponsthe player is the one who commits these horrible crimestaking parts of another person and turning them into tools of violence. And that doesn’t even get into the implications of using a part-animal weapon against another enemy of the same type, which must be classified as some kind of war crime.

5

Many weapons are just a person’s hair

Magical equipment collected from shower drain

This may not be as morally objectionable as weaponry made from animal parts, but it is at least as uncomfortable. Conjuration tools like Velka’s talisman and the white hair talisman are powerful, but so are just a few strands of hair that have been tied together. Be it the hair of a god, a giant or some unknown sorcerer, It’s very disheartening to carry just a strand of someone else’s hair.

Also, visually, some of them are quite disgusting. Velka’s talisman appears withered and dry, and simply unpleasant to hold. Others, like the witch’s locks, are used as whips. It may not be as disturbing as being whipped with your own teeth, but It’s still pretty unpleasant to get hit by someone’s dead hair.

4

The Mad King’s Crucifix Looks Inefficient and Horrible

Decomposing bodies should probably be removed from weapons before using them

A corpse still attached to a spear centuries after it was used is not good weapon handling. However, the mad king’s crucifix technically does not contain a corpse. That’s because the man impaled by the spike is still alive.

In fact, he will actively scream and wave his arm when players use this weapon, implying that it causes him immense pain. After all, its wrinkled body acts as the weapon’s main blunt force, and seems to derive power from his suffering. What’s worse than using your enemies’ remains to kill others? Using a living person as a glorified halberd.

3

Using decapitated heads as weapons seems like overkill

Fight with skulls

Elden Ring contains several weapons made to look like human heads, but the only thing that really is a human head: the cranial ship candlestick

. At first glance, and from the name, this item looks more like a piece of furniture than a weapon. And, as the item description says, that was its intended use.

A monk named Birac cut off his own head and shaped it into the top of this candlestick, apparently as a lesson to the other monks who worship the giant’s flame to treat it with more respect. It appears that the lesson was not accepted by the other monks and instead This candlestick began to be used as a blunt force weapon. As a final insult, the spotted can use this weapon to help kill the fire giant and use the giant’s flame for their own ends.

2

The Blasphemous Blade deserves its name

Rykard’s scene alone earns this spot

THE blasphemous blade

it’s maybe the most disturbing and bloody weapon in its physical appearance. It is a broadsword coated with the blood and entrails of heroes who were eaten by the god-devouring serpent. Even dead, they writhe along the surface of the blade, and it is their combined strength that gives it power.

This is all pretty gross, but what takes this weapon to another level is the scene in which it is introduced. Praetor Rykard, a demigod now fused with the serpent, pulls the sword violently across the throat, bodies and blood falling from the serpent’s mouth all the while. This weapon is not just a symbol of violent assimilation and carnage, it has also been on someone’s lips for a long time. One of these things should be enough to put players off.

1

Elden Ring’s fascination with fingers is truly disturbing

Weapons that epitomize the strange

These latest weapons aren’t bloody, or even disgusting. Instead, they unsettle players through their mysterious nature and almost alien sense of strangeness. These are finger guns: ring finger

, finger looking

and great beyond team

. Each of these weapons is large, discolored and distended fingers severed from hand-shaped abominations.

It cannot be overstated how grotesque it is to wield these weapons. It’s bad enough with a sword made from the bones or remains of a beast. Fingers are very human, not yet decomposedand have a sense of awareness about them. They might not be the typical kind of gross, but gross Elden Ring players, however.
