10 Harsh Realities of Watching the Originals

Six years after its finale, rewatching The CW’s The Originals reveals some harsh realities about the series, as well as highlighting its undeniable strengths. The Originals had several good things going for it, including a captivating plot and the familial bond between the Mikaelson children. However, that doesn’t mean the series didn’t have shortcomings that could sometimes be difficult to ignore. The Originals It ran for five seasons, and although some of them had flaws, the series was still loved by audiences.

The Originals is generally seen as a successful accompaniment to the Vampire Diariesexpanding the franchise’s lore in inventive and intriguing ways. However, there were times when I could have done better. Some main characters of The Originals were hard to love, and the plot became repetitive as the series progressed. The show’s ending also proved incredibly controversial – both at the time and in the present. Not everyone who watched the show was happy with how some stories were wrapped up.

The originals didn’t have diverse characters

It became more problematic in hindsight

Like its parent series, the Vampire Diariesone of The OriginalsThe main shortcoming is that it didn’t have diverse characters. In the series, Marcel is the only black main character. The other characters who were people of color did not have major roles in the series. They were either killed, used by the main characters, or not given a chance to grow up. A great example of this is Vincent Griffith. Vincent was used by Finn and Esther and then was dragged into the war between Marcel and Klaus.

The fact that The Originals there were no more people of color, as the main characters in the series didn’t make much sense.

The lack of diversity in The Originals it’s glaringly obvious because the show is set in New Orleans, a city rich in black history. As a result, the fact that The Originals there were no more people of color, as the main characters in the series didn’t make much sense. Even as the show reached its fifth and final season, it still hasn’t fixed one of its biggest flaws.

Klaus wasn’t always a good father

He treated hope badly

When Klaus moved to New Orleans and discovered he was going to be a father, there was an expectation that his new role as a father would change forever. Instead, he took all of his unresolved family trauma into his relationship with his daughter. It’s true that Klaus loved Hope and would do anything for her, but there’s no denying that he was horrible to her as she got older.

After Hope accidentally caught him killing a vampire, Klaus chose to ignore her for years instead of talking to her like any normal father would and explaining the situation. His solution when he found himself in an uncomfortable emotional situation was to avoid. Additionally, he encouraged Hope’s worst tendencies, which was surprising since her family made so many enemies because of the damage they left in their wake. One would think he knew better than that and would teach his son that.

8

The originals were better on The Vampire Diaries

The feeling was a little discouraging

One of the biggest criticisms about The Originals was how the Mikaelsons changed their the Vampire Diaries. In the Vampire Diariesthe Originals had a certain air of mystery around them. Their names alone evoked fear in most of the characters in the series. They were the ultimate villains. Although they fought and fought among themselves, the Mikaelsons always chose each other in the end.

However, in The Originalsthe Mikaelsons were not as respected as they were in the Vampire Diaries. Several characters in the series tried to kill them, and there were times when they were overpowered when they shouldn’t have been. They weren’t the series’ ultimate predators or villains. Instead, they had to fight other characters who thought they were better, stronger, and faster than them. They did not live up to the stories that were told about them, making them seem somewhat underwhelming.

7

Some characters who should have stayed dead were resurrected

This led to repetitive stories

In a series full of supernatural creatures, it’s normal for characters to be resurrected after they die. However, there are some characters in The Originals who should have stayed dead because their story was no longer necessary to the series or because their resurrection didn’t add anything new to the show. Although characters like Mikael, Esther, and Finn were intriguing in the Vampire Diariesthe constant hunt for the original children was a tiring story. There were more convincing villains in The Originals to explore.

Davina was an intriguing character in The Originals season 1.

Even Davina’s resurrection on the show didn’t make sense. When she died, her death felt so final and it was a fitting end to her story. But Vincent somehow managed to master the magic of the ancestors and brought her back to life. Davina was an intriguing character in The Originals season 1. However, as the show progressed, she was something of an afterthought, which made her resurrection feel unnecessary.

6

Hayley deserved a better ending

The program did him a disservice

The Originals featured several heartbreaking deaths, and Hayley Marshall’s was one of them. Since the first season of the series, Hayley has been one of the most beloved characters. She was strong, smart and would do anything to save her daughter. The Originals did Hayley a great disservice. She was killed and then turned into a hybrid, lost her husband and Elijah, and had to raise Hope alone since Klaus was not a present father.

Instead, she died in the most painful way. Her daughter, who knew nothing, put her in danger and Elijah, the man she loved and trusted, left her to die. It was unfair that Hayley didn’t get the chance to see Hope grow up or spend the rest of her life with Elijah. Her death seemed pointless, especially since she made it to the final season of The Originals.

5

The original seasons 4 and 5 were slow

They compare poorly to previous stories

The first season of The Originals It was a great start to the show. The story was interesting, the characters were intriguing, and the villains were a joy to watch. The second and third seasons continued to improve. However, when the show reached its fourth season, it became a bit slow. The stories weren’t engaging enough and the characters kept doing the same things and making the same mistakes.

The Originals season 4 was slow and season 5 had a lot going on. In fact, there is a strong argument to be made that The Originals should have ended with season 4 instead of adding a fifth season because it started to feel repetitive. The Originals Season 4 tied up the story relatively neatly, while Season 5 had a lot of unanswered questions and an anticlimactic conclusion.

4

Klaus took advantage of his family many times

He became an unlikely character

In both The Originals and the Vampire DiariesKlaus had a reputation for being a terrible brother. Not only did he control Mikaelson’s other children, but he also stabbed them when they did something that went against their will. Sometimes Klaus left his brothers to dry out in a coffin for decades, but he still expected complete loyalty from them. When he and Marcel were fighting over who would be king of New Orleans, he expected Elijah and Rebekah to help him, even though they didn’t deserve their help.

When Freya arrived on the scene, he treated her the same way. She must follow his orders, even when it does her more harm than good. Strangely, no matter how many times he used his brothers for his own benefit, they always forgave him. It could be because of the “always and forever” oath they had made to each other, or because, deep down, they feared what he would do to them if they truly abandoned him.

3

Elijah’s story revolved around Klaus

He wasn’t allowed to thrive alone

Klaus and Elijah were the main protagonists in The Originalsbut for the most part, Elijah’s story was heavily intertwined with Klaus’. In the series, Elijah seemed to have no life of his own. He was always looking for a way to redeem Klaus, who had no interest in being better. When he wasn’t doing that, he was fighting the enemies Klaus had made. Even when the opportunity arose for him and Hayley to be together, he once again chose his brother.

There were times when her self-sacrifice for Klaus’ happiness became frustrating.

The Originals is, of course, about the bond between the Mikaelson children, but that doesn’t mean Elijah had to be in Klaus’ shadow. There were times when her self-sacrifice for Klaus’ happiness became frustrating. The show missed an opportunity to get something more out of Elijah, mainly because he was a decent and honorable character. The fact that Elijah and Klaus were killed in The Originals it also made it all feel a little pointless.

2

The originals had several plot holes

Some elements of the story didn’t work

In a show that relies heavily on supernatural lore, it’s expected that some things might slip through the cracks. However, some of the series’ plot flaws could have easily been avoided. For example, the explanation that the Originals were the first immortals was debunked in the Vampire Diaries when Silas was introduced to the show. The Originals did not even attempt to correct this perception, although the audience who watched the Vampire Diaries I knew it wasn’t exactly accurate.

The Originals it also created the impression that the Mikaelsons were the strongest vampires. But at the same time, other vampires were able to resist these centuries-old supernatural beings who began the vampire bloodline. Various things in The Originals it didn’t match what the public had been led to believe about early vampires or some other aspects of supernatural lore. The misrepresentation of facts The Originals could be understandably irritating.

1

Klaus’ redemption arc took too long

Ultimately it fell

Klaus is one of the most beloved characters in the Vampire Diaries universe because of his villainous personality. While this has been fun for a while, there comes a time for a long-running show like The Originals to give the main protagonist some character growth. But that wasn’t the case with Klaus. His redemption arc in the series was a long time coming. Even though he knew that some of his actions were harmful to him and his family, he still chose his default setting of destroying everything whenever he was cornered.

Klaus has rarely been held accountable for his actions. It was only in the last season of The Originals that Klaus seemed to have developed a better way of dealing with his emotions. For the first time, he didn’t choose himself. He sacrificed himself so his daughter could live, and that was one of the most selfless things Klaus did throughout all five seasons of The Originals.
