Although Blue is an extremely popular show right now, it’s easy to forget the real voices behind the animated series, which means some of the show’s guest stars could be particularly surprising. Premiered for the first time in 2018, Blue is an Australian children’s show that follows the eponymous Bluey, an energetic Blue Heeler puppy who is curious about the world. Alongside Bluey, the audience meets his sister, Bingo, and his parents, Bandit and Chilli. In the last three seasons, Bluey has met some wonderful characters outside of her family although, and often, they are voiced by big stars.
Due to their Australian roots, many of Bluey’s guest stars are popular Australian figures, from actors and comedians to journalists and presenters. While American audiences may not recognize these stars, they definitely make an impact on Australian audiences, who are excited to recognize such iconic voices. However, Blue Nor is there necessarily a shortage of American stars. There are several major celebrities who have appeared in one or more episodes of Blueyand may return again, showing how comprehensive the children’s program is.

Adam Colinas
One particularly notable Australian celebrity who appeared Blue It’s Adam Hills. Hills is a comedian and radio/TV presenter who began his career at age 19 as a stand-up comedian. From then on, he started presenting programs such as Spots and stains, Adam Hills tonight, and The last step. Overall, Hills has been a significant presence in the Australian comedy world for decades, which makes him an especially exciting addition to the cast of Blue.
Hills appears in the episode titled “Cubby” in Blue season 3. In the episode, Hills plays a cricket commentator who appears on Bluey’s television screen. Otherwise, the episode follows Bluey and Bingo as they try to build a cubby for their favorite toy, Kimjim. To the American public, cubicle is another word for a special room or theater.

Hamish Blake
Hardware store employee (and Jack’s father)
Another Australian star to play a role Blue It’s Hamish Blake. Blake is more of a comedian and presenter which gained a lot of fame in Australia. Blake appeared in Spots and stains and Thank God you’re here, in addition to being the host of Lego Masters.
On Blue, Blake played two different characters. First, he appeared as a Labrador Retriever hardware store employee in the Season 2 episode, “Hammerbarn.” Blake’s wife, ZoĂ« Foster Blake, appeared in the same episode as a poodle who works the register. Furthermore, Blake voiced Jack’s father, a Jack Russell Terrier who became a recurring character in season 2.

Megan Washington
Calypso the music teacher
One final Australian figure that American audiences may not be as familiar with is Megan Washington. Since 2010, Washington has been a popular singer and songwriter. His style started out as jazz, but has since evolved more into the indie and pop spaces. Throughout his career, Washington has won many accolades, including three ARIA Music Awards. Washington also lent his iconic voice to Blue.
In Blue, Washington plays Bluey’s Blue Merle Australian Shepherd professor, Calypso. This is a recurring role, meaning Washington appeared quite frequently on the children’s show, unlike most of the guest stars. Notably, Washington also showed off her musical talents in the season 3 finale episode “The Sign” when she performed her song “Lazarus Drug.” Presumably, Washington will continue to play Calypso and hopefully be able to sing on the show once again.
7
Antonio Campo
A postal worker (and Rusty’s father)
Now one Australian star who is probably most recognized by the public is Anthony Field who is best known for playing Blue Wiggle in the children’s band and show The Wiggles. Similar to Bluey, the maneuvers started as a children’s group in Australiabut quickly gained international fame for beloved songs like “Yummy Yummy” and “Big Red Car.” Later, The maneuvers starred in her own TV show and began touring the world.
Field also took on two different roles in Blue. In the first place, Field took on the role of a postal worker in the Season 2 episode, “Dance Mode.” Field’s character must deal with Bluey’s father, Bandit, who just can’t stop dancing. After that, Field returned in the episode “Army”, as the Red Kelpie, Rusty’s father. Ultimately, Field’s time on the children’s entertainment scene made him the perfect choice as Blue guest star.

Joel Edgerton
A police officer
Another familiar face lending his voice to Blue It’s Joel Edgerton. Edgerton is an Australian actor who has a long resume of screen creditsranging from Star Wars movies for movies like Zero Dark Thirty, The Great Gatsby, and more recently, The boys on the boat. Edgerton appears in the exciting penultimate episode of Blue Season 3, “The Signal”. In the episode, Edgerton voices a German Shepherd police officer. This is quite in line with some of Edgerton’s braver and bolder film roles. Since Edgerton appeared at the very end of the Blue In season three, there’s a chance he could reprise his role in another season, especially since Bluey’s family decides not to move after all.
5
Eva Mendes
A yoga instructor
A sneaky cameo that audiences might not have noticed Blue It’s Eva Mendes. Mendes is an actress who achieved notable fame in the early 2000s for projects like 2 Fast 2 Furious, Ghost Rider, and A place beyond the pines. In 2014, Mendes decided to retire from acting, focusing on his family and other endeavors. Thus, Mendes’ appearance in Blue It’s quite an achievement, as it was his first role in nearly a decade.
Mendes appears in the 3rd season of Blue in the episode Born Yesterday. She plays a glamorous yoga instructor who Chilli is following on TV. The rest of the episode follows Bluey and Bingo as they drive their father from place to place while he pretends he was born yesterday. Although Mendes’ role is quite small, it’s still incredibly notable because of how it technically brought her out of retirement.
4
Rose Byrne
brandy
A celebrity with one of the biggest Blue roles is Rose Byrne. Byrne is an Australian actress best known for her performances in the 2010 comedies. as Bridesmaids and Neighbors, and the horror franchise, Insidious. Although Byrne has dipped her toes in several different genres, she is definitely no stranger to children’s media, as she starred in the Pedro Coelho films. Therefore, its appearance in Blue it’s just another typical Byrne role.
Byrne plays the central character of Chilli’s sister Brandy in Blue. Brandy is first introduced in the season 3 episode “Onesies”, where it is revealed that she has fertility issues that make it difficult for her to have children. Later, Brandy returns in the episode “The Sign”, to reveal that she is finally pregnant. Byrne may not have much screen time, but she Blue the plot is enough to make parents cry, making it one of the most memorable in Blue season 3.
3
Natalie Portman
A documentary narrator
By now, it should be clear that many of the Bluey’s Guest stars appear briefly as characters on Bluey’s own TV, and this scenario is no different for movie star Natalie Portman. Portman was introduced to the world of acting at age 12 in the film LĂ©on: The Professional. Since then, she has racked up some truly iconic roles in the Star Wars franchise and in iconic films such as Black Swan, V for Vendetta, and the Thor films. However, her huge film roles didn’t stop her from appearing in Bluey.
In Blue, Portman’s voice can be heard in the Season 3 episode, “Whale Watching.” Portman is the narrator of the whale documentary that can be seen on Bluey’s TV. Again, this is a minor cameo, but it’s definitely still an interesting addition to the series. The rest of the episode finds Bluey trying to take Bingo on the best ride ever in a game called Whale Watching, although her parents need some persuasion to join in on the fun.
2
Robert Irwin
Toy store employee
THE Blue The guest star who stands out among the rest for his unique career is Robert Irwin. Alfie is a character who could make a wonderful return in Blue season 4.

Irwin plays a toy store employee named Alfie who is recruited to help translate what Bluey and Bingo are saying.as they have committed to playing the Silent Game. It’s Alfie’s first day on the job, but he manages to understand what the girls are saying, which leads to a happy celebration at the toy store. Alfie is a character who could make a wonderful return in Blue season 4.
1
Lin-Manuel Miranda
Major Tom
One of the only Blue The guest star not to play a dog in the series is Lin-Manuel Miranda. Miranda is best known for writing and starring in blockbuster musicals, Hamilton and In the Heights. After his success on Broadway, Miranda wrote soundtracks for films such as Moana and Charm. Ultimately, Miranda is very familiar with children’s entertainment, which makes him perfect for Blue.
Miranda appears in the 3rd season of Blue, in an episode called “Stories”. Unlike most Bluey’s characters, Major Tom is not a dog, but a gentle horse. He offers some guidance to the characters Indy and Winton as they attempt to make a wax horse. Major Tom ends up being an inspiration for children. Overall, Manuel’s cameo in Blue is a sweet and fun addition to the series.
