Notice! Spoilers ahead for Venom: The Last Dance.
from Sony Venom: The Last Dance features a grand climax to Eddie Brock and Venom’s journey with an epic battle between symbiotes and an army of Xenophages, several sacrifices, and the promise of a major Marvel event in the near future. Sony’s Spider-Man universe began with Poisonwhich introduced Eddie Brock and the titular symbiote with no connection to Spider-Man. Venom: Let There Be Carnage continued to establish Venom as his own antihero, and Venom: The Last Dance ends the Poison trilogy with man and monster parting ways as their adventure comes to an end.
Although Venom: The Last Dance doesn’t feature any Spider-Man, the trio expands on their Marvel lore with the introduction of the prison planet Klyntar, its prisoner and ruler Knull, and Knull’s servant creatures. “Xenophages”. Marvel’s Knull and Klyntar are central to Venom’s story, as Knull is the main ancestor of all symbiotes, and Kylntar threatens to conquer and destroy the entire universe if the Xenophages successfully bring Venom’s codex to Knull. Knull is unable to use Venom’s codex to free himself from Klyntar, but that doesn’t mean the universe is safe from his desire for revenge.

Venom dies to save the world from Knull
Venom makes the ultimate sacrifice to protect Earth and Eddie Brock from Knull’s invasion
The biggest turnaround in Venom: The Last Dance it’s the fact that Venom sacrificed his life to defeat the Xenophages that are hunting him. After fighting a single Xenophage for most of the film’s runtime, Venom and Eddie Brock find themselves cornered in the Area 51 research facility by multiple Xenophages. Almost all of the humans and symbiotes who joined the fight fell victim to the creatures, who continue to reassemble their bodies whenever they are injured. Realizing that the Xenophages are nearly invincible, Venom makes the decision to absorb them and throw acid on himself.
Before carrying out his plan, Venom says goodbye to Eddie Brock and puts a shield on him, warning him that it will just be goodbye. “for now”. This line not only acknowledges a previous exchange between Eddie and Venom, but also suggests that there is still hope for a reunion in the future. After all, Venom is also very difficult to completely kill in the source material, and Venom: The Last DanceThe second post-credits scene teases Venom’s return with a cockroach making its way to the canister that contained a piece of the symbiote that Venom left behind in the bar at the beginning.

Eddie’s criminal record has been expunged and he goes to New York
Eddie Brock is free to rebuild his life in New York City under one condition
Besides the two scientists who helped Venom fight the Xenophages, Eddie Brock is the only survivor of the Area 51 incident. And even though Orwell Taylor dies before recognizing Eddie Brock’s courage, the government takes note of Eddie Brock’s bravery, the which earned him a total record-clearing and a second chance at a fairly normal life after his adventures with Venom. Eddie Brock is visited by a high-ranking officer, who informs him that his criminal record has been expunged – on the condition that he not reveal what really happened at Area 51.
Venom: The Last DancePost-credits scenes tease more news for Sony’s Spider-Man universe
At the end of Venom: The Last DanceEddie Brock chooses to travel to New York as a heartfelt tribute to Venom, who wanted to see the Statue of Liberty before his death. Eddie remembers his time with Venom as he walks through New York until he sees the Statue of Liberty. Once there, the film ends, and Venom: The Last DanceThe post-credits scenes tease more things for Sony’s Spider-Man Universe and possibly the MCU as well.

Juno Temple’s Payne joins the symbiote’s agony
Dr. Payne is the only character capable of retaining her symbiote
Venom: The Last Dance features Dr. Payne from Juno Temple with a dream flashback to his childhood. According to the flashback, she witnessed her brother being struck by lightning, which also burned his left arm. Dr. Payne takes a small sample of a symbiote while defending Orwell Taylor’s symbiotes and helping Eddie Brock fend off the Xenophages. After her colleague loses her symbiote to one of the creatures, Dr. Payne breaks the canister and lets the symbiote take control of her body. As a result, the Agony symbiote is born.
In the comics, Agony and four of his fellow symbiotes are used by the Life Foundation as bodyguards. Instead of a scientist, however, Marvel Comics’ Agony initially chooses security officer Leslie Gesneria as its host. Some time later, Agony teamed up with Lieutenant James Murphy. Agony is also known for fusing with its fellow symbiotes to create a supersymbiote called the Hybrid.

Eddie Brock kills someone for the first time
Eddie Brock feels remorse for knowingly killing someone (in self-defense)
Venom and Eddie Brock are chased through the desert by a Xenophage, who can only track Venom’s codex when Venom fully takes control of Eddie’s body. Therefore, Eddie must travel alone, and Venom can only help Eddie with his tentacles and head. At one point, the military arrives to capture them, which forces Venom to transform and thus attract the attention of the Xenophage. A free battle ensues in a river, causing Venom and Eddie to become separated. Venom tries to jump back into Eddie’s body, while Eddie fights two soldiers. Eddie incapacitates one of the soldiers, but is forced to shoot the other with his own gun..
After surviving the battle and reuniting with Venom, Eddie Brock is deeply affected by his decision to kill the soldier. Eddie can’t shake the image of the soldier’s face and regrets having to use lethal force to defend himself. Up until this point, Eddie had relied solely on Venom to kill his enemies, which evidently allowed Eddie to shift the blame for the death onto the symbiote. However, pulling the trigger alone is a totally different story.

An army of symbiotes fights xenophages in Area 51
Xenophages are almost impossible to defeat, even by symbiotes
Venom: The Last DanceThe final battle is not limited to just Venom, the military and the Xenophages. At least six symbiotes are also stored at Area 51, held for research as the US government investigates extraterrestrial life. When the fight begins, the two heroic scientists release all the symbiotes, which unite with some of the workers and attack the Xenophages. Unfortunately, most symbiotes and their hosts die quickly, including Patrick Mulligan and his symbiote, Toxin, who provided information about Knull and his minions.
Each symbiote has a special ability. For example, one of them seems to be especially strong, while others can create more complex weapons. Toxin can fly and Agony has super speed and electrical abilities. However, most of these symbiotes are no match for the Xenophages, who can easily kill the symbiotes by eating them and pulverizing them with the saw-like teeth on the back of their heads. In the end, only Agony survives.

Knull is trapped in the void and needs a codex to escape
Knull can only escape Klyntar if he collects Venom’s Codex
Venom: The Last Dance establishes that Knull has been trapped on Klyntar for eons and is trying to escape with the help of the Xenophages. According to Venom and Toxin, Knull can only escape Klyntar when he acquires a codex, which comes into existence when a symbiote resurrects its hosts after their death. Since Venom resurrected Eddie Brock during the events of PoisonVenom has held the key to Knull’s escape for about a year.
It is possible that a new codex will be created if Agony ever resurrects Dr.
Knull’s story in Venom: The Last Dance follows his history in Marvel Comics very closely. Just like the source material, Venom: The Last Dance‘s Knull is also the creator of the symbiotes, betrayed by them when they gained free will. Following Venom: The Last DanceAfter the codex exposition, it is possible that a new codex will be created if Agony ever resurrects Dr. Payne, or if Carnage returns and brings Cletus Kasady back with him. After all, a resurrected Carnage is the key to Knull’s escape from Klyntar in the comics.

Eddie Brock has a short stay in the MCU
Venom: The Last Dance’s opening scene takes place in the main MCU timeline
Venom: The Last Dance begins with Eddie Brock talking to Cristo Fernandez’s bartender about Thanos and the Infinity Stones, shortly after Spider-Man: No Way Homepost-credits scene. Just like that post-credits scene showed, Eddie Brock is sent back to his home timeline, where he meets an almost exact copy of the same bartender.. However, this version of the bartender doesn’t know who Thanos is. He is also shocked when he sees Venom’s tentacles preparing a cocktail for Eddie, and even more so when authorities confiscate a piece of the symbiote that Venom left behind.
The MCU’s Earth-616 remains symbiote-free, at least until Spider-Man 4 reveals the opposite
Venom: The Last Dance from the Spider-Man: No Way HomeThe post-credits scene takes on a whole new meaning. While Spider-Man: No Way Home suggested that Venom had left behind part of himself in the main MCU timeline, Venom: The Last Dance confirms that he did this in Sony’s Spider-Man universe. Venom: The Last DanceThe post-credits scene reveals that the bartender survived the battle at Area 51 and escaped the facility, while the symbiote piece presumably attaches itself to a cockroach and escapes. Consequently, the MCU’s Earth-616 remains symbiote-free, at least until Spider-Man 4 reveals the opposite.

Knull is revealed as the King in Black
The real plot of Knull’s King In Black is only teased at the end of Venom: The Last Dance
Knull tries and fails to retrieve a Venom codex to escape Klyntar in Venom: The Last DanceBut that’s just the beginning of your story. In Venom: The Last DanceIn the end Knull promises to escape his prison and conquer the universe, proving why he is known as “The King in Black”. Interestingly, Knull never meets any other character in Venom: The Last Dance. In truth, Knull doesn’t even get up from his chair throughout the entire film. But this only suggests that Knull’s first appearance is just the beginning.
In the comics, Marvel King in Black The plot sees Knull successfully escape Klyntar and attempt to take over Earth. The Avengers, Fantastic Four and X-Men join forces to fight Knull and his army, while Venom is chosen as a new host by Captain Universe and defeats Knull with special help from the Silver Surfer. As a result, Venom becomes the new King in Black. To adapt this storyline, Sony and Marvel may need a new multiversal crossover and a Venom resurrection, which is unlikely but not impossible at this point.

Eddie and Venom go on a road trip (sort of)
Eddie Brock and Venom encounter two familiar faces while escaping the xenophages
Everything Eddie Brock wants to do after the events of Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Spider-Man: No Way HomeThe post-credits scene is about finding a place to rest and recover. However, authorities begin tracking him after Venom kills a gang in Mexico, and Xenophage forces Eddie and Venom to change their plans to travel to New York and change direction in favor of Las Vegas. Since Eddie cannot give Venom full control without alerting the Xenophage, Eddie and Venom must travel on foot. Fortunately for them, they meet a kind family who want to visit Area 51, and later meet Mrs. Chen at a casino in Las Vegas.
Eddie and Venom befriend the family and later save them from the Xenophages when the family invades Area 51. The father, Martin Moon, is played by Rhys Ifans, who previously played Dr. Moon. The Amazing Spider-Man and reprized his role in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Ifans’ new character has no connections to the Lizard, however. Meanwhile, Mrs. Chen’s friendship with Eddie gives him a place to rest, but Venom’s carefree personality leads him to transform and bring the Xenophage directly to Mrs. Chen.

No Spider-Man appearance in Venom 3
Spider-Man does not appear at any point in Venom: The Last Dance
While Spider-Man’s adjustments to the multiverse are what leads to Eddie Brock and Venom being momentarily transported to the MCU’s Earth-616, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man plays no role in Venom: The Last Dance. Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men are also completely absent from Venom’s final adventure, and no other Spider-Man variants are mentioned. As it stands, then, the Poison the trilogy ends with minimal references to Spider-Man, including Venom’s iconic white emblem, which the antihero always sports on his chest in the source material.
It’s still technically possible for Venom to meet Spider-Man in the future
Given that Eddie Brock is in New York City, Knull promises to return, and a piece of the symbiote appears to have survived the battle of Area 51, it’s still technically possible for Venom to encounter Spider-Man in the future. Perhaps the symbiote will regenerate into a full-size Venom and reunite with Eddie Brock. Meanwhile, Spider-Man’s potentially multiversal adventure in the next MCU film Spider-Man 4 could open new portals between timelines, which could allow Eddie Brock and Venom to finally meet Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and join forces to defeat Knull in a live-action adaptation of the Marvel Comics film. King in Black plot.
