Isekai anime give their protagonist a rare opportunity and a second attempt at life. Some protagonists arrive in their new worlds as they did in their previous lives. Others are reborn into a new world, retaining all memories of their past lives. Isekai worlds can vary greatly. Some are fantastic, some are futuristic and some are in the middle of science fiction. It’s not the most popular subgenre of isekai, but every sci-fi isekai brings something fun and enjoyable to the table.
To be a good science fiction isekai, the show doesn’t necessarily have to be about science fiction. Having sci-fi elements can be a great way to add interesting elements to the overall plot of the show. When protagonists like Cid Kagenou from The Eminence in the Shadow reincarnate in a new world, they bring a lot of technology with them, transforming your new worlds using science.

Mushoku Tensei: jobless reincarnation is a controversial and captivating isekai about Rudeus Greyrat. Most of the world runs on some form of magic, but it is not undetectable. Rudy can go to Magic University to study spells, transportation circles, and more. He meets Nanahoshi, another Japanese man who was transported to his new world.
Nanahoshi wants nothing more than to return to her past life in Japan. She is studying magic circles and is going crazy due to lack of progress. It’s an interesting subplot that shows another side of isekai. Most isekai protagonists were losers in their previous lives and have no reason to return home.
