The Anthology Series Black mirror has managed to attract some big-name talent with his gripping stories about the dark side of technology. Edebiri was one of many famous faces who appeared in the season 6 episode “Joan is Awful”, which is the most star-studded episode of the series. It stars Annie Murphy as Joan, a woman struggling with various obstacles at work and her professional life, only to find a new series on a streaming platform with Salma Hayek playing Joan herself in the story of her life.

The sequel returns to the mind of the young child, Riley, and once again looks at the emotions in her head that guide her path in life, for better or worse. However, the ever optimistic Joy now has to contend with Riley in her teenage years and all the new emotions that come with that.
Edebiri is perfectly cast as one of the chaotic new emotions, EnvyAdding her own high-strung comic performance to the sequel. Although Pixar sequels have been hit-or-miss over the years, Inside Out 2 Is not just a cheap attempt to bank on the original. It builds on the strong story already established, finding new and profound ways to comment on the struggles of younger years and the anxieties children can face. It’s a movie that can speak to a lot of young people and also provide great family-friendly entertainment.
