The anime’s Kuudere characters are some of the calmest, rarely showing emotions and instead remaining in a constant state of stoicism. Although a tsundere character in anime might hide their true emotions, kuuderes don’t hide anything – they are actually calm. Kuudere’s characters, however, are not devoid of emotion. There are rare moments when a kuudere character breaks down, showing a brief flash of feeling. These moments are often more rewarding because of his stoicism, highlighting how important the situation must be if it is a kuudere care.
Kuuderes are always some of the best secondary characters in anime. They are reliable, predictable and are usually the last people to panic. They come in all shapes and sizes, showing that no matter who or where the character is, they can also be as cool as the other side of the pillow.

Kei Tsukishima
Haikyu!!
Tsukishima Kei is harder to break emotionally than physically and that’s saying something. He is the tallest of all Karasuno players, a statistic that matters a lot in volleyball. Although he is a monster on the court, he is a soft-spoken young man off it. Apart from some rudeness at the beginning of the series, Tsukishima does not show much animosity towards anyone. He’s a normal guy who doesn’t like to work that much, which seems like most boys his age.
Although Tsukishima doesn’t normally show emotions, he has one of the best moments in the series when he finally manages to block the unblockable Ushijima. He celebrates loudly in a moment of pure euphoria, causing everyone around him to almost cry with joy. Bokuto told Tsukishima that there would be a moment when he would fall in love with volleyball. He just had to fight one of the best volleyball matches ever Haikyu!! to make this happen.

Shinei Nozen
86: EIGHTY-SIX
Shinei Nozen is the most stoic character in the world of 86: Eighty-six. He is an incredibly talented pilot and a menace on the battlefield. Shin isn’t just tasked with defeating his enemies; he also has to carry the weight of his fallen comrades on his shoulders. He is the only person strong enough to survive this war, and it is his job to bring the spirits of his comrades with him. Shin has such a heavy burden to carry that he shows no emotion.
It’s not surprising that he’s a kuudere character. He has seen more battlefields than most other anime characters and has also had to wipe out most of his comrades. If he hasn’t finished them off, he can probably hear the echoes of their voices as their minds are trapped by the enemy. It’s a harrowing existence for the Grim Reaper. 86 This doesn’t seem to be getting much better.

Jotaro Kujo
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure
Jotaro Kujo is the most straightforward kuudere character. He is not interested in most things outside his direct objective. If he has a problem with someone, he’ll probably just throw a punch. One of his greatest strengths is his calmness under pressure. There are many moments when JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure where Jotaro’s panic would have been the end of him and his friends. Instead, JoJo turns to his inner stoicism to figure out the solution to just about any problem.
It’s strange how stoic Jotaro is considering his lineage. All the other JoJo’s are at least a little hot-blooded, causing them to throw themselves into situations they should probably stay out of. Although he’s not a great father like most other JoJo’s, he’s still willing to do what he can and try to get his daughter out of prison. And he will do this without changing his facial expression once.

Aquamarine (Aqua) Hoshino – Oshi no Ko
Starchild can’t let anyone know the truth
Aqua Hoshino has a strange existence and this can increase her overall stoicism. In his past life, he was a doctor who was a big fan of Ai Hoshino, but was stabbed to death to protect his secret. He then reincarnated as her son, retaining all of his old memories. When he was a baby, his mother, Ai, was murdered in front of him. Since then, he has spent his days tracking down his mother’s killer. He doesn’t have many genuine feelings other than pure contempt for the man who took Ai from him.
When around other people, Aqua says whatever she needs to keep the conversation flowing. He isn’t focused on anything outside of his goal and doesn’t have the emotions to care about much else. Once Aqua finds her father, the man who killed her mother, perhaps he will open up more.

Ai Hayasaka is one of the most adorable secondary characters in the anime. She is adorable, diligent, and a great friend to Kaguya. While Kaguya acts like a Kuudere, putting on a brave and stoic appearance at school, Ai is the genuine article. She really is as cool as she looks and she doesn’t need to pretend to show it. She is always there for Kaguya and can be picked up when her boss/friend is freaking out. If it weren’t for Ai, Kaguya wouldn’t have made so much progress with President Shirogane.
Ai Hayasaka is a delight every time she appears on screen. It appears in most Kaguya-sama: Love is of war moments of humor and never changes his facial expression during them. With her help, Kaguya definitely has an edge over Shirogane in their love war.

Ryouji Masuyama
2B is the ideal YoRHa soldier. She has the task of not showing her emotions and she is excellent at it. She’s so good at being a kuudere character that it’s no wonder her partner, 9S, will do anything just to see her smile. The world of Nier: Automata It’s as dark as it sounds. YoRHa units are fighting a losing battle across the planet and it doesn’t look like things are getting much better. When 2B spends time with 9S, however, she shows the slightest hints that she might be having fun.
Their chemistry is a big reason to watch Nier: Automaton Ver1.1a. 2B is one of the best androids in anime and her kuudere nature only makes her more interesting. She is one of the strongest fighters in the world Nier, is smart enough to see through the machine’s abilities and is even willing to let 9S take her shopping when the war finally comes to an end.

Shoto Todoroki
My Hero Academy
Shoto Todoroki has ice and fire powers, so perhaps it makes sense that his emotions are always somewhere in between. He is never hot-headed or cold-blooded. Instead, Shoto is the kuudere the Todoroki family desperately needs. His father and brother are close to being considered clinically insane. Your mother and considered clinically insane at the start of the series, so it’s no surprise that Shoto rejects his emotions for those around him.
Shoto is another incredibly trustworthy kuudere character. He is selfless, unlike his father and brother, and truly only wants the best for the people around him. He understands the pain his brother has gone through and is stoic enough to fight with him in battle when he knows he probably can’t win. If the Todoroki family has the chance to get back together, Shoto will be the key.

Sasuke Uchiha
naruto
Sasuke is one of the first famous kuuderes in anime. As a child, he threw tantrums and even behaved arrogantly. After his entire clan was massacred, his emotions became muted and rarely showed. He left Konoha to avenge his family, and even after he finished the job, he barely returned. Even as a father in Boruto, Sasuke is one of the last characters to show emotions.
It’s sad that Sasuke is so reserved. Perhaps if he hadn’t been crushed by such a senseless tragedy at a young age, he would be more expressive. Even though he doesn’t choose to smile very often, he’s still a force for good in Boruto. He has overcome his anger and hatred and is finding meaning in his new life.
2
Mikasa Ackerman
Attack on Titan
Mikasa is another character whose family was killed in front of her when she was young. When she was little, human traffickers broke into her home and killed her mother and father. She’s been quiet ever since, only speaking when absolutely necessary. It’s hard to see what Mikasa is thinking. She doesn’t give any hints on her face and doesn’t focus on anything outside of her mission or Eren. Like Sasuke, she still has the strength and resources to get the job done.
When Eren started to end the world, Mikasa knew it was her job to stop him. She loved Eren more than anything in her life, but even she knew that ending him was the only decision. She ends up with Eren by decapitating him, sharing a rather romantic but disgusting kiss at the end.

Frieren
Frieren: beyond the journey’s end
Frieren: beyond the journey’s end took the world by storm. It became one of the most popular and beloved series of the Fall 2023 anime season, and even won the #1 of the best animes site at myanimelist.com. Frieren is king for a multitude of reasons: the story is fresh, the secondary characters are rich and, above all, Frieren is the best. Frieren is one of the best elves in anime, one of the best mothers and one of the best kuudere characters at the same time.
Frieren lived for a very a long time, especially compared to all the humans and dwarves around him. She rarely shows her emotions because few things trigger them. She has seen beyond her enemy’s abilities and already has a good idea of what most of the fights she is involved in will be like. While this may sound boring, it is anything but. Frieren’s constant stoicism is one of the best reasons to watch Frieren: beyond the journey’s end. She is a rock to rely on in difficult times and an even better teacher to boot.
