The Eminence in the Shadow is a hilarious isekai series about a character who finally gets his wish. While most isekai protagonists go to their new world confused, upset, and homesick, Shadow couldn’t be happier. He finally gets to be the titular Eminence in Shadow himself, leading a secret group of warriors to carry out his mysterious orders. It’s a hilarious show and one of the funniest isekai series out there, and it also features incredible fights and top-notch action sequences that make the show a must-see.
To be a good isekai series like The Eminence in the Shadow, there is some main characteristics that a program needs to have. It needs to have a ridiculously powerful main character, a hilarious cast of supporting characters, or just general themes of hilarity. Few programs can compare to THE Eminence in the Shadowespecially when they’re reduced to just isekai, but there are some funny and heartwarming shows that could be considered valid comparisons.

Derivatives and a hilariously dark anime from the same creator as Hellsing Ultimate. It features a world of warriors, now called Drifters, summoned to a new world against their will in order to fight their new enemies, called Fins. It is dark in both theme and mood, creating a unique atmosphere rarely found in other shows. Where Derivatives it’s more like The Eminence in the Shadow it’s as much in its action as it is in its comedy.
Derivatives features a lot of great fights. Like this The Eminence in the Shadow, characters in Derivatives They are not afraid to get their hands dirty. They are always willing to fight and don’t really care what happens next. It’s also one of the funniest anime of all time and one of the least work-safe shows to watch. One of the funniest scenes in the show is when a pilot is transported to the world of the Drifters. He is looking at his new world in confusion and has one of the funniest speeches ever, swearing like a sailor as he tries to make sense of this new world around him.

Isekai Quartet is another great isekai comedy series that features three of the funniest isekai shows and Re:Zero. If Re: Zero wasn’t one of the darkest animes of all time, it would probably be considered pretty funny too, as Subaru, Rem, and the rest of the cast that made their way to Isekai Quartet everyone has their moments. The other three programs that appear most within Isekai Quartet they are Overlord, KonoSuba, and The Saga of Tanya the Wicked three incredible series in their own right.
Isekai Quartet may not have the high-flying action that The Eminence in the Shadow it’s known, but it doesn’t need to be to be considered a good comparison. Both are very well-written shows, with hilarious, biting dialogue and a cast of characters who are not afraid to speak their mindusually leading to something funny.

Misfit from the Demon King’s Academy is an interesting isekai series in which the main character, Anos Voldigoad, is reincarnated in the world he once came from, albeit 2,000 years later. When he returns to the world he left, no one believes he is the very Demon King everyone is studying. It’s a funny and somewhat adorable series with a domineering main character who has a lot in common with Shadow from the start.
Both Anos and Shadow are easily the strongest characters in their own series, and there are no characters even close to them. They’re both surrounded by tons of beautiful women who just want to support their main characters as best they can, but even they recognize the huge gap in their abilities. While Misfit It’s not as dark as The Eminence in the Shadow, that’s it It’s still a great show with funny momentslots of action and one of the strongest isekai characters.

When the Goddess Ristarte is looking for a hero to save the world of Gaeabrande from a brutal demon lord, she turns to a group of heroes to summon whoever might be able to save the day. Seiya Ryuuguuin has incredible stats for an adventurer and may have what it takes to save the world and protect everyone from the demon lord. Unfortunately for Ristarte, he is as cautious as possible.
As The Eminence in the Shadow, Cautious Hero: The hero is overpowered but overly cautious it’s ridiculouslou in the best way possible. It’s another solid series that features a great main character who is too strong for his own good and, like Shadow, concerned with his own goals and not too concerned with what happens around him.

Animated by Madhouse, based on the Light Novel series by Yuu Kamiya
No game, no life is a cult classic, even though only one season was animated. It’s a great isekai series featuring two of the smartest characters in anime, Shiro and Sora. The Saga of Tanya the Wicked could have a main character more like Shadow. Just like Shadow, Tanya is one of the best one-man armies in anime capable of taking down entire squads of enemy soldiers single-handedly. She’s just as delusional as Shadow, but somehow, they both make it work. Tanya was a simple salaryman in her past life, working tediously every day, until she was murdered by a disgruntled co-worker. In her new life, she is a military leader who wants nothing more than to blaspheme the “divine” being who brought her to her new world.
As The Eminence in the Shadows, The Saga of Tanya, Evil It features mind-bending action, explosive scenarios, and one of the most insane yet intelligent characters in anime. Calling Tanya disturbed would be an understatement, and she would get along perfectly with Shadow. They’re two characters with their own plans for the world around them, and there aren’t many characters in their series strong enough to stop them.

Supreme Lord and a top notch isekai series with another of anime’s most broken protagonists. Ainz Ooal Gown is the titular Overlord himself, ruling his friends with authority and his enemies without impunity. He is responsible for one of the most tragic events of mass destruction in anime, killing hundreds of thousands of enemy soldiers in just a few minutes.
Just like Shadow, Ainz is in a league of his own in his series. Both are also surrounded by incredibly strong characters, but even their allies can’t compare to them in terms of strength.Supreme Lord is a dark series thematically. If a character isn’t on Ainz’s good side, they likely won’t have long to live. The Eminence in the Shadow It’s not as dark as Supreme Lord, but both feature funny and biting writing, great fights and unbelievable set pieces.

The Time I Was Reincarnated as a Slime
Animated by Eight Bit, based on the Light Novel series written by Fuse and illustrated by Mitz Vah
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is a great isekai series that features another broken main character who only grows stronger as the series progresses. Rimuru Tempest comes into the world as a humble, blind slime before becoming the leader of an entire nation and a benefactor of the entire world. He’s building roads, forging alliances, and doing what he can to protect his friends. He is also incredibly powerfulas he is able to kill all of Falmuth’s soldiers with a single spell.
He may not be the strongest character in his own series like Shadow, but that doesn’t make him a pushover. He is one of the strongest characters in his series and is also very intelligent. Like Shadow, Rimuru wisely surrounds himself with people smarter than him that can help you make the right decisions. The Eminence in the Shadow and That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime They are two great series with more in common than differences.
2
KonoSuba: God’s blessing to this wonderful world!
Animated by Studio Deen, based on the Light Novel series written by Natsume Akatsuki and illustrated by Kurone Mishima
KonoSuba is easily the funniest isekai series out there. It has some of the best writing in anime overall, an incredible cast of misfits, and a main character who can avoid responsibility better than anyone. Satou Kazuma is probably the worst person chosen to defeat the Demon King. He really just wants to go out and relax, but the goddess Aqua has other plans for him. Unlike Shadow, the people around Kazuma couldn’t be more useless, but somehow, they are always able to find a solution to any problem they face.
The Eminence in the Shadow and KonoSuba It has great dialogue between its characters. Watching two characters from any series talking can be as fun as a good fight sequence. While Kazuma could learn a thing or two from Shadow about how to do things, Shadow could learn from Kazuma and perfect his ability to relax and relax for a while.

Tsukimichi: Moonlight Fantasy
Animated by the C2C and JC team, based on the Light Novel series written by Kei Azumi and illustrated by Mitsuaki Matsumoto
Tsukimichi: Moonlight Fantasy is the best anime for fans looking for something to watch as well as The Eminence in the Shadow. Both series have much more in common than differences. When Misumi Makoto is transported to his new world, he has an incredible mana reserve that rivals even the Goddess herself. He quickly finds a helpful group of allies who also turn out to be some of the strongest characters in the series.
As The Eminence in the Shadow, Tsukimichi features a combination of powerful action sequences and funny moments. Shadow and Makoto are too strong for their own good and often have difficulty understanding how other people perceive them. They are both two strange characters who get away with their quirks thanks to their insane abilities, creating hilarious moments in each of its series.
