Of course, 2025 is packed with some of the most anticipated FPS games of all time, which is great for anyone who's already made it through the 2024 selection. However, It's important to celebrate all of the best FPS games of the year to help gamers identify which ones are actually worth playing. Luckily, whether it's anime-inspired boomer shooters or immersive survival horror games, there have been plenty of phenomenal FPS titles in 2024.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 (Treyarch/Raven Software)

One of the best CODs in a long time

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 It was a much-needed return for the franchise after the disaster that was Modern Warfare 3. It's a powerhouse in visual fidelity, offering some of the most stunning environments, and the gunplay has never been better. While there are always new features that are divisive, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 still manages to be one of the best AAA FPS games of 2024.

STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl (GSC Game World)

An intense horror and survival experience

STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl It may have launched with bugs, but several huge game-changing patches made it the game it was always meant to be. Fortunately, even at launch, STALKER 2 was able to showcase its unique blend of survival horror and surreal sci-fi with its massive, immersive open world. What sets it apart from other games is the way it deals with health. Instead of having a health pool or a traditional health bar, players have 10 seconds to live.

Fortunately, killing other enemies will add more time, allowing players to continue. This encourages rote learning of all levels in order to better maximize the time remaining at the end. MadJack Mullet ends up being an incredibly frantic game as a resultone where strategically killing enemies while trying to get through each level is a finely tuned balancing act.

I am your beast (strange scaffolding)

A fast-paced revenge thriller

I am your beast is essentially Rambo the video game as it sees players attempt to take down the overwhelming forces of the military-industrial complex that are hunting them. This is, at its core, a narrative thriller with 20 completely riveting missions to complete. However, what makes it so compelling is the way it allows players to embody the ultimate survival fantasy.

I am your beast will see players run through a forest, climb a tree, drop onto a nearby enemy, grab their weapon, turn it on them, throw it at another enemy, catch it mid-air, and then blow up another one. It is ostensibly SUPER HOT without the time mechanica frantic shooting game that involves using the tools at your disposal. With a great story, strong mission design, and fluid combat mechanics, I am your beast is easily one of the best indie FPS games of 2024.

Witchfire (The Astronauts)

Witchfire is a dark fantasy extraction shooter with RPG elements. See fans choose from a variety of unique weapon types before entering one of the many distinct biomes in search of items. Of course, there will be terrifying enemies to face, bosses to fight, and the titular Witch of the Black Sea to face, all of which threaten the player and their collected loot. If it falls, there is only one opportunity to come back and claim it before it is lost forever.

Naturally, This leads to a risk-reward gameplay cycle in which players must decide whether to extract what they have or move forward to collect morebut you run the risk of fighting even tougher enemies. A refreshing expansion to the live shooter

Selaco is a narrative-driven independent FPS with one key feature that helps set it apart: destructible environments. Although currently in early access - with only a few planned chapters available - Selaco is an incredibly audacious and ambitious shooter with a lot to offer. These aforementioned destructible environments make each action-packed mission even more exciting, as entire locations can be reduced to rubble.

Additionally, Selaco takes a lot of inspiration FEARincluding its AI. Fans will have to face some of the smartest AI in an FPSas all enemies work together to take the player down. It's a breathtaking indie shooter with lots of phenomenal moments, great action, and a beautiful art style that brings the entire experience together.

Echo Point Nova (Greylock studio)

An open-world FPS from the developers of Severed Steel

Eco Ponto Nova is an open-world FPS in which players skateboard on a board, swing from platforms using their grappling hook, and destroy enemies with a variety of weapons. It's a fluid shooter, perhaps one of the most satisfying in all of 2024which excels in both weapon use and world design. For those who like frantic shooters with a versatile environment, Eco Ponto Nova is a great choice.

It also comes from the developers of another critically acclaimed FPS, Cut Steeland much of this game's DNA can be found in Eco Ponto Nova. From the fast-paced action to the overall style, Greylock Studio has clearly perfected the first-person shooter formula. 2024 had a number of great indie FPS games, but Eco Ponto Nova stands out as one of the most ambitious.

The best piece of Indiana Jones media in some time

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was a surprising success, especially since many doubted that the first-person perspective would suit the source material. Many probably imagined a UnknownThe experience was more adequate, but MachineGames happily proved everyone wrong. The first-person perspective adds a lot of value to this incredibly immersive and action-packed cinematic masterpiece.
