Agatha all the time
concluded with a shocking twist that reshapes the entire series after Billy Maximoff’s spectacular powers are fully revealed. Right in the middle of the Multiverse Saga, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)
takes a closer look at the supernatural and magical realm that operates within the Sacred Timeline. The show serves as a spiritual sequel to WandaVisionwhere the character Agatha Harkness was first introduced, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnesswhere Wanda Maximoff, aka The Scarlet Witch, supposedly died.
While there were high hopes that the show would finally reveal the Scarlet Witch’s fate, it took everyone by surprise when the final episode revealed the truth about the mysterious Witch Road, which the entire show revolves around. Despite popular legend and several episodes in which a coven of witches faced deadly trials, Billy was actually conjuring the road from his own imagination, similar to how his mother reshaped the reality around West View. But this revelation sets many other moments of Agatha all the time to a new light.

Agatha Going Down the Witch’s Road in Agatha All the Time
Agatha All Along, Episode 2 – “Circle Sewn with Fate / Unlock Thy Hidden Gate”
At the start of the show, the legend of the Witch’s Road is established, with Agatha Harkness being noted as the road’s only survivor. The road supposedly grants any witch who completes the trials their greatest wish, but although many witches try, most die. When Agatha gathers a coven, she sings the chant to summon the road, but when it doesn’t appear, she begins insulting the other witches, apparently trying to incite them to attack her. However, before they do, an entrance to the road appears and Agatha seems genuinely surprised.
Knowing that Agatha knew there had never been a road, that she had created the song and legend with her son as a way to lure the witches to their destruction and steal their power, and that she had carried this secret for hundreds of years, is not wonder she was surprised to see the road appear. Agatha was the only one who knew the road wasn’t real. Even Billy, despite conjuring the road, didn’t know he was behind the magic.

Jen Warning Teen About Agatha’s Darkhold Story
Agatha All Along, Episode 3 – “Through Many Miles / Of Tricks And Trials”
During the first trial, Teen, later revealed to be Billy Maximoff, is meeting the rest of the clan. At one point, he has a quiet conversation with Jennifer Kale, who warns him about trusting Agatha. Jenn says that there were rumors that Agatha had traded her own son to obtain the Darkhold, and she was someone who only thought about herself. Later in the episode, Agatha has a vision of the Darkhold in a crib, seemingly confirming this theory.
However, since Billy was the one responsible for the road and the trials, it makes sense that he would hear this rumor about Agatha’s past and, moments later, conjure up this image to taunt her. The reality is that Agatha cared deeply about her son, Nicholas Scratch, and was devastated when she lost him. However, Jenn was right that she was normally untrustworthy, as she lured countless witches into a trap on the fictional Witch Road to steal their powers.

Agatha tells Billy, “I didn’t think you had it in you.”
Agatha All Along, Episode 4 – “If I Can’t Reach You / Let My Song Teach You”
At the end of the first trial, all the witches barely make it out alive, but mortal Sharon Davis isn’t so lucky. Having drunk more poison and not getting the antidote in time, Sharon, also known as Mrs. Hart, was dead by the time the trial ended. When the group gets back on the road and Agatha begins to inspect the body, she mysteriously says, “I didn’t think you had that inside you,” which seems strange and it’s unclear who she’s directing the comment at.
With the revelation that this was Billy’s path, and that he created the tests, and at this point Agatha is the only one aware of this fact, it makes sense that this comment was directed at Billy. Agatha was curious to know what this false road would present to them, and whether the boy she had recently discovered was Wanda’s son was capable of taking the vision to its natural conclusion, but seeing the corpse after failing a test made her that it is clear that this was not a playful imagination. Agatha knew from then on that trials needed to be taken seriously, as the consequence of failure was death.

Rio Vidal appearing on the road
Agatha All Along, Episode 4 – “If I Can’t Reach You / Let My Song Teach You”
To continue on the road, the witches decided it was important to summon another green witch. With a simple spell, they manage to summon a powerful green witch who introduces herself as Rio Vidal. However, despite being called on what will likely be a dangerous journey along the most legendary road in witching history, Rio is absurdly happy and excited to simply be there. This seems like a strange reaction and paints Rio as someone who is not sensitive.
However, a few episodes later, Rio is revealed to be Death, making her an incredibly powerful character in the Marvel Universe. As she is the physical form that guides the recently deceased to the afterlife, presumably she met all the witches who died while traveling the road with Agatha, but as there never was a road, and Agatha was only killing the witches she deceived, Rio must have known that the road was also false. This explains his reaction to being on the road and his conversation with Agatha about killing his clan.

Singing Lorna’s version of the ballad
Agatha All Along, Episode 4 – “If I Can’t Reach You / Let My Song Teach You”
During Alice’s trial, the group is forced to sing the ballad Witches Road, but not any accappella version. Instead, they play Lorna’s version of the song, because they realize that Lorna designed it to be a protective spell for her daughter against the family curse. Then, like a coven, they pick up a variety of instruments and begin to sing the song. Agatha takes the lead with vocals and together they sing to destroy the family curse on Alice.
But for Agatha, it likely caused several layers of emotional response. The ballad was originally created by her and her son, Nicholas Scratch. Nicholas used it as a way to bond with his mother, and eventually they adapted it to convince and trap witches about a magical road that could grant wishes. Agatha had sung the ballad countless times before murdering groups of witches, and now she was singing it to save the lives of her new coven.

Agatha All Along’s “With Coven Two” Argument, Episode 4
Agatha All Along, Episode 4 – “If I Can’t Reach You / Let My Song Teach You”
After completing Alice’s trial, Jenn and Agatha begin a debate over the lyrics of the ballad. Agatha argues that the lyrics say “with coven two, the glory will be yours”, while Jenn refutes this idea by saying that it makes no sense. Instead, she suggests saying “with true coven.” To resolve the argument, Lilia suggests asking Alice, as her mother recorded the most popular version of the ballad.
However, none of the other witches know that Agatha was one of the ballad’s original creators. In fact, when she said it was “with coven two,” not only did she know she was right, but this was a reference to her and her son, who traveled together and depended only on each other. Obviously, over time, the ballad was altered and the lyrics changed, but Agatha has more authority to speak about her own music.

“You’re so much like your mother”
Agatha All Along, Episode 5 – “Darkest Hour / Wake Thy Power”
While the final moments Agatha all the time Episode 5 was already a big reveal, as it confirmed that Teen was Billy Maximoff, aka Wiccan, and that he had powers, this moment is amplified after the revelations at the end. The moment Agatha whispers in his ear and confirms his heritage, Wiccan throws a tantrum. He controls Jenn and Lilia and sends the witches flying through the air. This display of power and the transformation of the Wiccan’s outfit to include a crown like his mother’s is huge.

But more than that, Billy is literally like his mother in the sense that he unconsciously created a false reality. While Wanda turned West View into her own playground out of grief and pain, Billy created Witch Road out of his intense hope of finding his brother. The Final Judgment
Agatha All Along, Episode 8 – “Follow Me My Friend / To Glory At The End”
In the penultimate episode of the series, Jenn, Agatha and Billy are the only witches left alive. They reach what appears to be the end of the path, but this is the time when the path needs to give them what they most desire. Jenn manages to regain her powers, Billy manages to locate her brother’s essence and send it to the body of a recently deceased boy, but Agatha doesn’t seem to gain anything from the road other than her freedom after completing the trial.
Although it seemed like the road was working out, the truth is that things were more coincidental. Jenn’s powers were originally restricted by Agatha, so she managed to get them back. Agatha used her considerable knowledge of magic and spells to help Billy locate his brother, and Agatha was able to solve the puzzle, so she was freed. The road didn’t give Jenn her powers, nor did it cause Billy to meet her brother, Tommy, but it’s satisfying how those things worked out in the end, and even Billy sharing his power with Agatha, which satisfied her wish.

Billy sharing his powers with Agatha
Agatha All Along, Episode 8 – “Follow Me My Friend / To Glory At The End”
As mentioned above, Billy arrives in his fully powerful Wiccan form just as Agatha is about to face Death. Agatha is clearly outmatched and her limited powers mean she has no real chance of winning the fight. However, Wiccan grants his power by sharing his magic and making himself vulnerable for Wanda to take all of his power for herself. However, Wanda exercises restraint and stops draining her powers before long.

Although this satisfied the path and meant that Agatha regained her powers, it did not go as expected. Despite this, it was still Billy who gave him the powers, after completing the road. Ultimately, Billy acted selflessly, not knowing the road wasn’t real, and still giving Agatha the benefit of the doubt despite having seen her drain other friends on the road.

Jennifer Kale finishing the road
Agatha All Along, Episode 9 – “Maiden Mother Crone”
In the final episode, Jennifer Kale can be seen emerging from the earth near the sign marking the entrance to West View. Having her powers restored, she looks up to the sky with pure joy, having completed the perilous road and achieved what she desires most. She then flies away, not looking back in search of her old clan, ready to explore life with her powers again.
However, Jenn left before Wiccan and Agatha were clear of the road. Which means she too left before Wiccan realized the truth that he had created the road. Jenn has no idea that the road wasn’t real and that Wiccan is an incredibly powerful witch who has powers beyond her imagination. With all these pivotal moments taking on new meaning, Agatha all the time is one of the MCU shows most worthy of a rewatch just to see the ripple effect throughout the series.
