When Kitty first appeared Inexplicable IX-Men (1963) #129 (by Chris Claremont, John Byrne, Terry Austin, and Bob Sharen), he was just another “gifted teenager” with abilities he didn't understand, identified by the X-Men and the Hellfire Club alike.
