Snoopy Uses His Cold Nose To Prank Everyone In Town
Nuts – August 1, 1954
It's no secret that Snoopy enjoys the occasional practical joke at other people's expense, as Snoopy regularly hangs out with Linus, Woodstock, and – of course – Charlie Brown. Even when Snoopy is portrayed more as a 'dog' (as opposed to his more modern, anthropomorphic form), he's still as annoying as he is today. That much is proven to be true by this comic strip alone, like Snoopy pulls pranks on almost everyone in town by sneaking up behind them and touching them with his cold nose – and he is very proud of himself.

Linus Is Always More Improved Than Charlie Brown (& This Strip Proves It)
Nuts – August 3, 1954
Linus is a smart kid who is wise beyond his years, and this comic proves that has always been the case. In the early days of Peanuts, Linus was portrayed as a child, but that didn't stop Charlie Brown from spending time with him. This time, Chuck thinks it would be fun to play a card game.
Linus is a smart kid who is wise beyond his years
However, when Charlie Brown left, Linus puts the cards in a complicated tower. This is a great example of his natural intelligence, which seems to have already surpassed that of Charlie Brown, even at Linus's young age.

Charlie Brown Can't Even Win a Game of Pretend War
Nuts – August 7, 1954
Charlie Brown is a famous idiot, and that's not even a bad thing, he actually loses a lot. Even in a game of make-believe, where all one has to do is think of a better weapon than their opponent, Charlie Brown still loses. That's evident when he sneaks up on Lucy and shoots her with an imaginary gun, only for Lucy to shoot back with two machine guns. Charlie Brown's imagination is central compared to his peers. For a child, that's a really tough break.

Even If He's Right, Charlie Brown Is Still Wrong
Nuts – August 11, 1954
What's even more fun than Charlie Brown always losing is the fact that even when he's right, he's still somehow wrong. That's on full display in this comic strip, when Lucy asks Charlie Brown a math question. He asks him what zero says, to which Chuck gives the correct answer of zero. Lucy calls Charlie Brown an idiot for giving him such a 'nonsensical' answersaying, “It has to be something!“. Even when he tries to help, Charlie Brown just can't catch a break.

Schroeder Is Not Just a Piano Prodigy, He's a Legitimate Genius
Nuts – August 14, 1954
Schroeder was a prominent member of the Nuts gang from the start, and his defining quality is that he is a pianist. However, Schroeder is more than that, as highlighted in this comic strip. While playing in the sandbox, Schroeder starts baking in the sun. Therefore, rather than reducing his playing time, Schroeder has the brilliant idea of building a sand dune and resting in the shade it provides. It seems that Schroeder is more than a 'one trick pony', as he's not just good at playing the piano, he's a legitimate genius.

Lucy Showing Off Her Dance Moves Is One Of The Best Peanuts Jokes
Nuts – August 15, 1954
Although a series as wide as Nuts should make it nearly impossible to name one line that can be considered one of the greatest that ever lived, this comic proves otherwise.. The comedy shows Patty and Violet whispering to Lucy as she walks up to them, saying that Lucy's parents put her in dance class to get her out.
When Lucy came to them, they asked her to show them some dances, which she did in a really interesting way. Then, Lucy admits that those steps “it cost my father twelve dollars“. From beginning to end, this comic is pure gold, and one of the funniest in it Nuts history.

Lucy Invents a Hilarious Trend with Linus
Nuts – August 17, 1954
One day, while Linus is taking an unexpected toddler nap, Lucy decides it's time to wake up. Lucy began to speak softly, trying to calm her little brother. Then, Lucy screams right into Linus's ear, scaring him awake and doing a real backflip.
This is actually a trend Nuts jokes, as Lucy has been yelling at Linus to wake up (which he does with a terrifying backflip) for years. This comic is an early example of this trend, but it's far from the last to happen.

Pig-Pen Proves Again That He Is The Model Of Self-Confidence
Nuts – August 18, 1954
Since the introduction of the Pig-Pen Nuts canon, he was unshakably confident in who he was as a person. Pig-Pen is famous for being dirty all the time, and those around him have no problem telling him how much they loathe him. But, Pig-Pen never lets that bother him, including in this comic, when Patty tells him he's always dirty, and Pig-Pen replies, “I agree!“. Nuts Use Patty to Highlight Little-Known Dangers of Jumping Rope

This whole comic strip is just a rope for Patty to jump on. However, that shouldn't suggest it's not funny, as this comic highlights the 'unknown dangers' of jumping rope: unexpected haircuts. With each jump, the rope ate at Patty's hair, and little by little her hair was cut off, until nothing was left on top of her head.
