Snoopy's Comical Genius is not recommended by Woodstock
Nuts – July 12, 1974

Snoopy is angry at his friend for not giving him the answer he wanted, thinking to himself with a frown on his face,Woodstock doesn't understand anything“.
The funniest part of this comic isn't that Woodstock ignored Snoopy's joke, or the joke itself, but Snoopy's reaction in the final panel. He concludes that Woodstock didn't understand the joke, because – in Snoopy's mind – the idea that Woodstock didn't think it was funny is impossible. The situation Sally, Linus, and Lucy find themselves in is universal, as it were mothers have been sending their children to the movies during summer vacation in an attempt to get them out of the house for a few hours.. In other words, those multi-million dollar blockbusters undoubtedly have parents (in this case, mothers) to thank for their success.

even if Lucy is wrong, she is still somehow right
Lucy is famous for being the most know-it-all in the Peanuts group. That's been made clear over the years by how critical he is of Charlie Brown, how he treats everyone around him, and how he has his own clinic where he literally charges kids to give them advice. And this comic is another example, as it shows that even though Lucy is wrong, she is still somehow right.

When Charlie Brown tells Sally that his beach ball is floating across the pond, she tells him not to worry about it, and simply calls the ball to him. Sally then tells Charlie Brown, “You have to know how to talk to a beach ball“, something Charlie Brown clearly didn't know how to do. Snoopy has long been a writer, taking his typewriter from sitting on top of his doghouse for many years. Nuts history, and in this comic strip, he writes something very good. At least, you think so. Snoopy writes the story of a woman named Edith who refuses to marry a man because of his weight, and the man goes to his friend, asking him why he can't just eat before saying, “You won't be able to find your cake and Edith again!“.
Cheap puns aren't usually the mark of a good writer, though that's completely lost on Snoopyas he was very happy with this document. Snoopy thinks to himself,”It's great when you write something that you know is good“, and honestly, his confidence is admirable, even if he's completely delusional.

Snoopy Almost Invented a New Way to Play Tennis
Nuts – July 15, 1974

He keeps thinking about all the things he 'should' have done during the game, and all the ways he could have improved his game. However, before losing focus entirely, Snoopy pulls himself back, saying, “we don't play 'should'!“.
Although Snoopy's comment was his way of getting his head back in the game, the way he said it made it seem like he wished there was a way to play 'should'ves' in tennis. Imagine, a game where either side can recreate a missed opportunity, or undo any of their confusion. Honestly, it could be worse, but it seems that even a version that isn't 'supposed' to play tennis is better than the way Snoopy is playing in this drawing.

Snoopy's 'Bdtime Snackiness' Distracts Him From Nature's Beauty
Nuts – July 13, 1974
It seems that Snoopy is the most 'stupid' when he should be sleeping, something fans have seen before when he knocks on Charlie Brown's door trying to get a jelly muffin. In this comic, Snoopy faces the same level of hunger in the middle of the night while sleeping on top of his dog house. Instead of entering the atmosphere of a peaceful summer night, with all the sounds nature has to offer, Snoopy focuses on the sound of a can opener somewhere in the distance, and soon wakes up, sure to beg Charlie Brown for food..
Snoopy is easily one of the most iconic characters in the entire Peanuts line, and the month of July 1974 highlights that with comics like this one. But, Snoopy is certainly not alone, as each of these 10 Nuts comic strips are absolutely hilariousand it's good to look back as they turn 50.
